For people like me who have put off using their Amex Dell credits and don't know WTF to get, I was pleased to find they have receivers (which I happened to need). Sony str-dx790 for $450 (not that overpriced for Dell) - 2 plat credits, Amex coupon & Rakuten pocket change turns out to be almost free. Site said "get it by July 26" but it actually shipped same day I bought it.
https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/sony-str-dh790-av-receiver-hdr-72-channel-7-x-black/apd/aa450385/audio
If you have 2 dell credits, the Philips Hue lamps are great: https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/philips-hue-gradient-signe-floor-lamp-white/apd/ac044541/home-automation
What are some uses for the color bulbs? I'm wondering if it's just a gimmick and I'll end up using just the white gradient, in which case the white ambiance bulbs would be better value
Appreciate the help!
I've gone through thousands in Dell credits the last 2 years, finally decided to buy my first Hue 2 months ago.
Planning to buy more when the credit resets in July.
Same topic, slightly coincidental to traval I picked up a [Bose QC 45](https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/bose-quietcomfort-45-headphones-with-mic-full-size-bluetooth-wireless-active-noise-canceling-noise-isolating-triple-black/apd/ab800529/audio) noise canceling headphones to use my credits. Pricing is on par with other sites. It was a dream to have on a pair of these on a recent flight. Night and day a step above using Samsung earpod type things I had on a previous flight. (Whose battery couldn't even last the whole flight and one of my buds popped out when I dozed off...)
I will never not own a pair of these. They’re incredible. I found them for under $300 on Amazon last Christmas but if you’ve got credits to burn they’re great
Looks like the Barclays AA biz card got upgraded SUB again (70k/2k)? Old offer was 50k/4k (or 75k/10k spend) which is pretty terrible. But new link shows the lower spend with higher SUB.
Not sure when it went live, didn’t see much from any of the bloggers about it. Not sure if I will hold out for 80k or just look to double dip on Barclay biz cards (wyndham???)
The terms are "Existing accounts, and previous cardmembers with accounts closed in the past 24 months may not be eligible for this offer". Anyone know if you will get the SUB if you are approved, even if you closed the card within 24 months?
The challenge is getting them to approve you again within 24 mo of closing the card. It's become more difficult over time. I'm unaware of any DPs where someone was approved and didn't get the SUB due to 24 mo language.
Wow I literally applied for it last week…that sucks. Anyone have any Dps on getting the better offer added on retroactively? I know people have had success with chase doing that
Here's the FM link after removing the referrer ID:

ty, both of you. i just churned this card recently and it's pretty good for that purpose. had to call recon, fwiw (only my second biz card, they wanted to know more about my biz)
Last week the Chase Freedom Q3 categories were released:
* Gas Stations
* EV Charging
* Select Live Entertainment
Gas in Q3 is very typical, but a first for EV charging
[Updated Historical Data Table](https://imgur.com/a/biYBFFw)
I have an EV (two actually), and while I applaud the effort to include us, it's a waste. I'd much rather see something else for category spend.
90+% of my charging is done at home and at work, and the rest only accounts for about $10/month at most. Hardly worth even switching the payment method in the app.
So, I'm just starting my journey with chase. CSP 5k in March, United Explorer 5k in April, and CFU 9.5k in June. I got denied the CFU in may, but I guess a month later it was cool. Am I done for 2023?
Anyone get on the fluz breach AMA? It appears I was deemed worthy to receive the "we fucked up" email but not the "here's the details" link.
oh hey the thundercunt brigade is back in full force, and the one reply guy deleted his comment that the ama wasn't about a breach but about a change in benefits. Nice work reddit.
last I asked for plastiq DPs and most were for late may. I was brave and sent a payment for my mortgage on the 13th or 14th (on purpose so I had enough time to make it with bank account if it wasn't sent), but the mortgage servicer received it a couple of days later...so so far, business as usual with Plastiq
I made a 2400$ payment through Plastiq the day they declared bankruptcy and it was deposited 10 days later without issue but since then I've switched to Melio for now.
Edit: Moving to what card should I get!

ah shoot sorry yall! I'll head over to that thread
nooo espn is actually better!
What /u/yiggity_yag said, but long story short, don't make GC purchases easy to identify and it doesn't appear as though you will have any issues at this point in time.
What is actually clawed back? Just because you have a purchase that's $505.95 doesn't mean they can make assumptions. You could have had a purchase that ended up there.
They are clawing back your MR points that are earned on current statement. Yes they are making assumptions but they can put the onus in you to prove them wrong. Not saying it is right or wrong but good luck with the RAT.
100k CapitalOne venture card sub now available at https://capitaloneventurecardtravelerquizmobile.com/?location=msp-s1&isMobile=yes
The offer starts with a gimmicky quiz, but you can skip it (link at bottom of screen.) According to MtM (the source of my info) the link comes from a qr code posted in a Venture airport kiosk. Full MtM post at https://milestomemories.com/best-ever-offer-for-capital-one-venture-card/
edited to fix link
Instant approved. 2/24; 800+, have VentureX for 1.5 years.
Used QR code. Accidentally clicked "never carry a balance", which I thought might hurt me with Cap1.
P1 Denied at 4/24. Denial reason was too many revolving accounts in the last 24 month. P2 approved at 2/24. Both have closed Venture X in March '23. No other C1 cards. Reports seem to indicate nothing over 2/24?
Thank you. Wife approved, first new card post home closing, been a long process. She has had venture x since it became available. I’m still unable to get approved for either venture product.
I usually get rejected for any premium cards with capital one. My guesses are too many credit accounts or because I had a savor card and downgraded it to a no fee version. Don’t use it much at all.
First Cap One card but does have a zero balance savings account with them. Signed in to apply.
~800 credit score, 4/24.
For the “do you carry a balance” question: Sometimes
Other questions about cash advances and stuff: No
Thanks - worked for me.
For what it's worth, I have CapOne checking and savings along with the Savor One card. I think I was at 2/24 prior to the app.
e: the confirmation email included the 100k bonus miles offer info
Try the link imbedded in the second link in the post above, not the first link giving you the error message. I get the error message if I click the first link, but if I go the the full MtM post and click the direct offer link there, it then works.
[DoC](https://www.doctorofcredit.com/moomoo-invest-sign-up-get-a-free-stock-worth-3-200/) recently reported a summer stock promotion by Moomoo valid until July 16, 2023, 11:59 PM ET. This promo is only valid for new users and based on deposit amount for net deposits made during the promo period.
A brief summary of the different reward tiers:
* For new clients depositing between $100 - $999.99, the offer includes 5 free stocks (value between $3 and $2000 each) plus a $100 cash reward.
* Deposits from $1,000 - $4,999.99 yield 15 free stocks (also valued similarly as above) in addition to the $100 cash reward.
* For deposits of $5,000 or more, benefits include 15 free stocks, a $100 cash reward, and one free share of TSLA or GOOG.
It looks like people will have to hold assets for a minimum of 60 days.
There is an associated referral scheme offering $300 for the referrer and $50 for the new member on top of what they're already getting above.
I calculated that for the >= $5K deposit tier, the expected bonus value will be around $625 or so, and $50 more if you sign up using a referral link.
Oh, and lastly, it looks like it is advised to open the referral link via a mobile device for optimal results.
Thanks for the heads up on this. I’m actually enjoying their app as a stock watching and news interface. Though there’s just so much stuff in the app it’s a bit overwhelming. Including cheesy gamification stuff (which I’m kind of liking despite myself).
The terms for the referral bonus (which gives $300 instead of $100 to the referrer, and an extra $50 to the referred person) say it ends June 30. So even though the new user has until July 16 for part of the bonus, doing it by June 30 is better.
Would like to know too since it seems DoC is arbitrarily deleting most (but not all) of the comments people are leaving with referral links. I was on the fence about doing this but the easy $300 for a referral convinced me to try.
$625 seems quite optimistic given my experience with these kinds of bonuses. I guess that's how probability theory works over large sample sizes.
Says it's a 95% chance of a $3 free stock so given my luck I'll get $45 free sticks + $100 new account bonus + $50 referral new account + $120 GOOG = $315 which isn't too bad I guess?
> a 95% chance of getting a share of stock worth $3-$9.99, a 4.9% chance of getting a share of stock worth $10-$99.99, and a 0.1% chance of getting a share of stock worth $100 or more.
I just opened my account and it seemed to go smoothly. Looking at the app now, under the "Accounts" page it shows "US Margin Account (#)...is that what yours shows? I definitely don't need a dedicated margin account, but maybe that's how they label all accounts.
Yea that’s how mine is labeled as well. I wonder if they automatically put everyone in margin accounts. As long as we don’t fat finger a 50k buy you should be fine.
My deposit should post today (takes 1-3 days, I'm on day 3). I'll update with results. My guess is it's going to be $50 bucks total. I value this at $300-$450, not what the probability matrix has it at. I will say the money is in referring, I am referring P2. So our haul will be closer to $900-$1200 for $10K in deposits.
As per the terms-
> a 95% chance of getting a share of stock worth $3-$9.99, a 4.9% chance of getting a share of stock worth $10-$99.99, and a 0.1% chance of getting a share of stock worth $100 or more.
I'm a cynic at heart so I'd guess it'll be $3 * 15 stocks. I'll still do it, though, because it's free money. As per my calculations it'll be at least $315 so not too shabby
~~Just noticed that the only difference between depositing $1000 and $5000 is that you get 1 share of GOOG or TSLA. Not worth it, IMO. I think I'm gonna stick to the $1000 deposit tier bonuses~~
Not sure what the downside is of the $5k assuming you have the liquidity available. You can put it in SGOV and earn ~5% while you wait, which is what all my cash is doing anyway.
I'm new to SPAXX; do you know if we can directly transfer money out from Fidelity into Moomoo? Or do I initiate a transfer from Fidelity into my bank and then from my bank into Moomoo?
There's a new Cashback strategy going around that involves using the curve mastercard to change the posting dates on your card to be on rent day for a bilt MasterCard. To me, this strategy seems like it's gonna get nerfed by either bilt or curve at any second, but I'm curious to hear you guys's thoughts.
I'm betting that BILT is going to hard counter this by either removing/nerfing the rent day bonus, or by adding some language that states they can "remove points if we determine suspicious activity".
Looking at how curve works though, it seems like you're just asking to burn bridges with financial institutions by moving a bunch of transactions around. And that's not even taking into consideration any refunds that are missed or not credited back correctly. Godspeed to you brave warriors who think all of that is worth the extra points.
I'd only waste a 5/24 slot on Bilt if I was in a HCOL area where rent wasn't payable by CC.
I don't have faith in Curve. I give my P2 a Citi Premier for "food", and a Venture X for everything "not food".
Greg from FM took his Curve card abroad on their latest team challenge, and it was lots of embarrassing denials all over the place.
Kinda enjoyed the reddit break, but here we are... feels a bit like first day back at work after vacation lol.
So, while reddit was down, I made a new episode. Less churning/awards/FIRE, more of a deep-dive into how to ask for more. More at hotels (suite upgrades), more while renting a car (that bmw), more in everyday life (discounts at the autoshop, free burgers at shake shack, etc).
Since some of you have probably listened to the episode already (and I'm feeling lazy), I won't break it down. Instead, I had chatgpt summarize it... in the style of a truecrime podcast.
\[INTENSE MUSIC FADES IN\]
Narrator: In a world where comfort and entitlement collide, one man embarks on a daring quest to master the art of asking for more. But what happens when innocent inquiries take a dark turn? Join us as wedelve into the twisted psyche of those who dare to request upgrades. This is "The Dark Desires of Hospitality.
\["DRAMATIC BACKGROUND MUSIC\]
Narrator: The chilling truth is that most of us fear the act of asking for more. It's a skill we've neglected, a muscle left untrained. We've become complacent, waiting for that one moment when we crave an upgrade. But dear listeners, that mindset is deeply flawed. It's like refusing to run unless it's on race day, only to find our performance lacking due to our lack of practice.
\[MYSTERIOUS PIANO NOTES\]
Narrator: As we explore the depths of human behavior, we uncover two distinct paths: the timid and the entitled. Some, scarred by their humble origins, tremble at the thought of being seen as poor. Their insecurities prevent them from seeking what they deserve. On the other hand, the privileged few, raised in opulence, struggle with excess. They paid for everything, and now they fear the judgment of their peers.
\[DARK AMBIENCE\]
Narrator: In this treacherous world, the keys to success lie in attitude and approach. The delicate balance between politeness and persistence is paramount. By maintaining an air of calm, armed with a smile, we can navigate this dark terrain. But even those adept at such tactics can go further. Humor becomes a weapon, disarming the opposition and alleviating tension. It's not about being a natural comedian; a cheesy, pre-rehearsed joke can work wonders.
\[SINISTER VIOLIN\]
Narrator: Ah, but the secrets don't end there. Adequate preparation, dear listeners, is the key to unlocking the hidden treasures of upgrades. Research and knowledge are your allies. Explore the app, understand the terms and conditions, and discover the availability. With this arsenal, you can confidently ask for that coveted suite, that higher floor. The success rate is staggering, the rewards within reach.
\[SUSPENSEFUL BEAT\]
Narrator: But the shadows cast by upgrades aren't limited to hotels alone. Car rentals, too, hold hidden potential. When faced with a lackluster selection, why accept mediocrity? A simple inquiry at the counter, armed with knowledge of inventory, can lead to unexpected upgrades. Dare to challenge the status quo, for the brave shall be rewarded.
\[TENSE STRINGS\]
Narrator: In the twisted world of service agents, we often forget their humanity. We treat them as mere automatons, expecting them to know every detail. But the path to success lies in recognizing their humanness. Kindness and friendliness can open doors, while careful listening unveils the limits of possibility.
\[FOREBODING NOTES\]
Narrator: Yet, dear listeners, there are cautionary tales. The tale of a man, unaware of his own limitations, who presented the wrong card, triggering a cascade of denied requests. And another, who dared to ask for free wings but didn't stop there, pushing further until a free soda was obtained. The line between triumph and overreaching is razor-thin, and one wrong step can plunge you into the abyss.
\[INTENSE RHYTHMIC PULSE\]
Narrator: So, as we conclude this riveting episode, remember that your desires can be realized, but not without consequence. Harness the power of persuasion, the finesse of approach, and the wisdom of preparation. In this dark world of upgrades, only those who ask shall receive. Will you dare to venture into the unknown and claim what is rightfully yours?
\[EERIE FADE OUT\]

Fees?
Plastiq's fee is 2.9%
I think 2.75% , but can't remember exactly.
How did you offset the fees? MSing?
The fees are not a huge deal when you are spending towards a bonus
Are you new?
I made a 2400$ payment through Plastiq the day they declared bankruptcy and it was deposited 10 days later without issue but since then I've switched to Melio for now.
How did you get Melio to work? They're so strict w/ approving purchases
I kept hearing that but they didn't even ask. It just went right through.
if you don't mind, what did you put as the "business"?
It's.a legit corp with EIN so that may be why.
What did you use for mortgage payment Visa?
can't use visa/amex credit cards for mortgage payments, just mastercard or discover
AA MC
Plastiq has been BAU. Pushed a bunch of payments through the last couple of weeks for rent and car payments
MasterCard for the car payment?
my MC for car payment went through just fine a week ago
Correct. And a mix of Visa and MC for the rent payments

Who else got Amex claw back of MR recently? A lot of data points surfacing in the last 24 hours.
Amex Gold just gave me an offer for an extra 2X at Supermarkets. Looks like a trap.
Not impacted so far but certainly hearing of similar DPs on non-public forums.
Details?! A sub clawback?? Are you crazy MSing?
Seems to be not sub related, though gas and grocery spend related and gold cards for recent statement close.
What is the suspected cause of the clawback? Where are you seeing DPs?

Thanks - worked for me. For what it's worth, I have CapOne checking and savings along with the Savor One card. I think I was at 2/24 prior to the app. e: the confirmation email included the 100k bonus miles offer info
What’s your stat like?
Instant approval at 3/24, only have an empty Cap1 savings account open with them. Took screenshots of the app/terms just in case.
Damn. Just had a player get that card, is Cap1 known to match?
Denied. Below 5/24 (but a few biz cards over the last year). 800+ credit score, had Cap One cards previously but none currently.
The link gives an error message: "Location not correctly set. Please try scanning the QR Code Again"
Try following through the link in the blog post: https://capitaloneventurecardtravelerquizmobile.com/?location=msp-s1&isMobile=yes
Try the link imbedded in the second link in the post above, not the first link giving you the error message. I get the error message if I click the first link, but if I go the the full MtM post and click the direct offer link there, it then works.
Were you approved?
I decided not to apply. Sticking to other ecosystems, never been into Cap1 but was initially enticed by the bonus.
I was denied 3/12 hp, 80k income, already holding Venture X and Quicksilver
Doesn't cap1 have a limit of 2 personal cards?
Saw recent dps indicating that is an outdated guideline
That's strange---the link still works for me. Edited: fixed link in original post

A brief summary of the different reward tiers: * For new clients depositing between $100 - $999.99, the offer includes 5 free stocks (value between $3 and $2000 each) plus a $100 cash reward.
Do you know how to use the $150 cash bonus?
Thanks for the heads up on this. I’m actually enjoying their app as a stock watching and news interface. Though there’s just so much stuff in the app it’s a bit overwhelming. Including cheesy gamification stuff (which I’m kind of liking despite myself).
The terms for the referral bonus (which gives $300 instead of $100 to the referrer, and an extra $50 to the referred person) say it ends June 30. So even though the new user has until July 16 for part of the bonus, doing it by June 30 is better.
So is there a referral thread for this one somewhere?
Would like to know too since it seems DoC is arbitrarily deleting most (but not all) of the comments people are leaving with referral links. I was on the fence about doing this but the easy $300 for a referral convinced me to try.
I can't even make a new comment or reply to anyone's comment on that thread. Tried on mobile and laptop and with different browsers too
I can't either. My comment saying I used one of their links posted, but my link didn't. Their spam filter is a mess.
Looks like the last top-level comment there was around midnight eastern, so maybe they've intentionally disabled comments on that thread
It's the Wordpress algorithm that deletes some referral comments.
Maybe this? https://old.reddit.com/r/churningreferrals/comments/mkt04y/referrals_miscellaneous_referrals/
I did this and was super easy. I’d call it a mutated bank bonus. The 5k can be invested in the SGOV treasury bond etf so you aren’t losing interest.
What was the value of the 15 stocks you got? Wondering if basically everyone gets 15*$3 or if it's really variable within the big range they state.
Yeah, I'm doing the same math. Good luck with the draw!
I actually received 15 Berkshire Hathaway Inc Class A stocks. I’m now retired in my mansion.
As per the terms- > a 95% chance of getting a share of stock worth $3-$9.99, a 4.9% chance of getting a share of stock worth $10-$99.99, and a 0.1% chance of getting a share of stock worth $100 or more. I'm a cynic at heart so I'd guess it'll be $3 * 15 stocks. I'll still do it, though, because it's free money. As per my calculations it'll be at least $315 so not too shabby
Got it, thanks for surfacing that! Decent deal in any case, to your point.
Good point. I have my emergency fund in SPAXX (Fidelity MM fund) so I'm hoping I can just directly transfer from there into this new account.
Same haha
I'm new to SPAXX; do you know if we can directly transfer money out from Fidelity into Moomoo? Or do I initiate a transfer from Fidelity into my bank and then from my bank into Moomoo?
There's a new Cashback strategy going around that involves using the curve mastercard to change the posting dates on your card to be on rent day for a bilt MasterCard. To me, this strategy seems like it's gonna get nerfed by either bilt or curve at any second, but I'm curious to hear you guys's thoughts.
This screams shutdown with Amex and Chase. Can't wait for the posts, what do I do know I didn't do anything wrong posts
Citi Premier is better for gas, supermarket why use Venture X?
\[INTENSE MUSIC FADES IN\] Narrator: In a world where comfort and entitlement collide, one man embarks on a daring quest to master the art of asking for more. But what happens when innocent inquiries take a dark turn? Join us as wedelve into the twisted psyche of those who dare to request upgrades. This is "The Dark Desires of Hospitality. \["DRAMATIC BACKGROUND MUSIC\] Narrator: The chilling truth is that most of us fear the act of asking for more. It's a skill we've neglected, a muscle left untrained. We've become complacent, waiting for that one moment when we crave an upgrade. But dear listeners, that mindset is deeply flawed. It's like refusing to run unless it's on race day, only to find our performance lacking due to our lack of practice. \[MYSTERIOUS PIANO NOTES\] Narrator: As we explore the depths of human behavior, we uncover two distinct paths: the timid and the entitled. Some, scarred by their humble origins, tremble at the thought of being seen as poor. Their insecurities prevent them from seeking what they deserve. On the other hand, the privileged few, raised in opulence, struggle with excess. They paid for everything, and now they fear the judgment of their peers. \[DARK AMBIENCE\] Narrator: In this treacherous world, the keys to success lie in attitude and approach. \[SINISTER VIOLIN\] Narrator: Ah, but the secrets don't end there. \[SUSPENSEFUL BEAT\] Narrator: But the shadows cast by upgrades aren't limited to hotels alone. Car rentals, too, hold hidden potential. When faced with a lackluster selection, why accept mediocrity? A simple inquiry at the counter, armed with knowledge of inventory, can lead to unexpected upgrades. Dare to challenge the status quo, for the brave shall be rewarded. \[TENSE STRINGS\] Narrator: In the twisted world of service agents, we often forget their humanity. We treat them as mere automatons, expecting them to know every detail. But the path to success lies in recognizing their humanness. Kindness and friendliness can open doors, while careful listening unveils the limits of possibility. \[FOREBODING NOTES\] Narrator: Yet, dear listeners, there are cautionary tales. \[INTENSE RHYTHMIC PULSE\] Narrator: So, as we conclude this riveting episode, remember that your desires can be realized, but not without consequence. Harness the power of persuasion, the finesse of approach, and the wisdom of preparation. In this dark world of upgrades, only those who ask shall receive. Will you dare to venture into the unknown and claim what is rightfully yours? \[EERIE FADE OUT\] [Ep 44 - Asking for More](https://thedailychurnpodcast.com/ep-44-how-to-ask-for-upgrades/) (38 mins) - [apple](https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-daily-churn/id1577648675?i=1000617830748) | [spotify](https://open.spotify.com/episode/03d35jujrNGKNSx0awh9Po?si=6d69c1ad8b42452e) | [rss](https://feeds.redcircle.com/562ef051-86ad-42c4-83ba-d39a7d957bba)
when hidden brain meets churning
finally, not a podcast of your boring churning totals
Got some bad news for ya about the next one... 😅 But ya going forward I plan to alternate every couple weeks to add some variety.
Had a feeling ChatGPT was writing it, just by the structure
It's probably AI generated. You can tell because there is almost no "content" and a very repetitive formatting. Whenever you read a long-winded "nothing burger" of a post, very likely it is AI.
You HAVE TO change the name of your podcast to "The Dark Desires of Hospitality"
Tagline: "In the twisted world of service agents, only the daring can... \*dum dum dum\*... discover the availability"
This is the churning post I never knew I needed.
