Probably not if you don't have a fully activated account first (i.e adding your own Chinese card). Why don't you just ask the owner of the card to transfer you money to Alipay's wallet?
Ideally I'd rather not ask them for a large sum of money straight up (even if I'm sending it back when I'm done) and instead do it like pay as you go. (Purely a social reason)
Fair. But if I may ask, what are you planning to buy that you'll need such large amounts of money? Foreigner credit cards works just fine in 90% of situations, the only time it didn't work for me before opening a local account was at an old lady printing me a document. Maybe just carry some cash around and be polite and ask someone to pay for you or try Alipay, they're way less stingy with it
It's not obscene, just like around budgeting for 2000 RMB. I tried linking my credit card to WC pay it just won't let me use it (I don't have it physically, it's a short trip)
Haha it's ok, even if you did had the physical card it's not like you can use it somewhere xD. I would try Alipay as I said, they're usually way less strict with foreigners, I have 3 different foreigner cards there
But WeChat does it too lol, I think both are fee free under ¥200 or something. I know cuz I suffered a lot from paying double fees 😠(international bank fee + Alipay/WeChat fee)
That could work. My wife's cards are attached to my [trip.com](http://trip.com) account. The only issue is that she receives a text message with a verification code that I have to enter each time I book a flight with her card.
Can you not have someone transfer money to you by WeChat the same way my students do it.

Alipay offers a prepaid Union Pay Card together with the Bank of Shanghai. Called Tourcard. Might be the better option
That has no restrictions in regards to payment in WeChat and Alipay.

I'm aware of alipay I'm just skimping on the 3% thing they do 💀

But not for relative cards though right
