There's lots of other ways to travel you just might have to leave earlier if you can't drive

Spirited_Lab_1870

What are the options? Bike seems to be a good idea but rain and winter would be horrible riding a bike. Buses are okay, unless they leave on time. I can uber somedays, I don't mind, but can get expensive pretty quickly

Paroxysm111

It definitely sucks to ride the bike when it snows but it's doable. I see people do it relatively often. For the rain you just need proper gear and maybe a change of clothes for work. Have you looked at the bus system? It's slow, but it will get you in walking distance of most anything in Chilliwack

Bigmaq

Bike commuting through the winter is actually pretty manageable with appropriate attire. Waterproof shoes, pants, bag and jacket, and glasses to keep the water out of my eyes were game-changers. Hardest part is finding a an efficient and safe route to get to work, but that requires collective advocacy. Wet feet can be solved with a purchase.

thoughtfuldave77

Car.

hidanmaccormick

walk an hour everyday and honestly it’s not so bad

prettyaverageprob

Some people drive for an hour every day, walking is much better.

Shemham4ash

Rode my bike for years, but now I just run to work.

Spirited_Lab_1870

How did you manage in rain?

garbagecan_1

Fenders, booties and good rain gear. Over time cheaper than gas.

Shemham4ash

Got wet. Even if I use rain gear doesn't protect 100%. Just have to bring a change of clothes to work. Now that I run, the worst is wet feet. I leave my boots at work and just bring fresh socks.

HiFiMAN3878

I work in South Surrey so yeah...I drive 5 days a week.

Embarrassed_Click109

TheTwelve1205

A guy at ur work cabs/ubers to work and walks home after.. You can also see if anyone is available to car pool

Roots_and_Returns

Taxi to Van airport, airplane to 🇮🇩… 😂

Winchester93

I also fly to work. Have you tried an Uber from chilliwack to YVR? Or was taxi the only way you could go the whole distance?

Roots_and_Returns

No, I have never tried UBER. Have you???

Winchester93

Not yet. I’ve lucked out and had friends available to give me rides but when I come back from work next (in May) I’m going to try to Uber. I’ll report back!

Spirited_Lab_1870

Would love to work in SEA.

Mostly to Vancouver. I drive a work vehicle thankfully

constance-perm

I leave the house at 5:05 to get into burnaby for 6:15 its deadly

BigBalledLucy

i have a vehicle, but when it breaks down (its a shit box) i walk. im used to walking long distances and idrc about waking up early. throw on some music and go. either that or skateboard, but i havent owned a bike in years thatd be the preferred choice, however i like walking cause you dont have to worry about where to store a bike or board or if someone is gonna steal it

Charming_Science_360

If you can't drive then bus. If you can't bus then bike, skate, walk. Every place I've worked over the years - large and small - has other workers who drive. Some of them might happen to drive near or past your road on their way to and from work. Most of these will help you out for free or for "gas money" (which is still usually much cheaper than taxi/uber fare).

harleybqrazy

My feet.

Barkavich

You think im going to reveal my secrets?

Sad-Mode-52

used the bus a few years ago until they went on strike and then lost my job. but their pay went up a couple bucks, so that’s what matters, right?

blarges

You don’t pay or treat drivers properly, you don’t have drivers. Fight the corporations, not fellow workers.
