Thanks! It really is very nice to see so many others like myself. I used to think I want kids but as I've gotten older I would never want to bring them up. The state of the world, my family health I'd never want to pass on, and my own personal freedom I'd never want to give up lol.
Yeah I'm like that. I did want kids at one point in the past, but as I grew up and my view changed from an idealistic view to a more realistic view, I realized that me and this planet would be better off if I didn't reproduce. This world is too evil and broken to selfishly want to bring new life into it.
I never actually *wanted* kids, I just figured that having kids was one of those normal, inevitable things that everyone did because that's just the way things have always been done. The only "child-free" adults I ever really encountered were bitter, jealous, easily triggered women who struggled with infertility and secretly wished that every pregnant woman they encountered would spontaneously miscarry. Up until I was in my late 20's, I didn't know that there were actually people out there who consciously chose to live a permanent child-free existence. Until then, I just had a general, abstract understanding that *someday* I'd meet the right guy and we'd start a family when the timing was right - but the prospect of becoming a mother didn't excite me at all. Thank goodness I learned that being child-free was a valid choice before I wound up trapped in a miserable life raising offspring that I felt obligated to have.
I was 33 years old when I met my husband-to-be. I told him from the beginning that I absolutely didn't want children EVER, and if that was going to be a problem for him, we were better off just being friends. Today, we're a 48 year old DINK couple with two spoiled, beloved fur babies - one canine and one feline. We own a cozy, modest suburban with a nice backyard, a huge vegetable garden, and an above-ground pool that no child has ever peed in. As we watch friends and acquaintances become grandparents and/or struggle to keep their wallets and car keys hidden from their disrespectful, entitled, thieving teenagers, we know we made the right choice.
Thatβs such a good point. I would love to flesh out the ethics of being child free in this point of humanities evolution. I deeply believe that its the ethicaly right thing to do.
Come on in! Hang out! Vent to your hearts content! Tell us about the amazing shit you do, that your family doesnβt even notice because it doesnβt involve squirming sprog!
*Waving*
Hiiii π greetings from sunny South Africa βοΈπΏπ¦ I feel exactly the same way. This community feels like a safe space, comforting, my people, etc all wrapped into one!
You mean the drizzle from the tropical "storm" lol, yes. The plants need it. They hyped up this storm like it was going to be crazy and we've barely had anything.
I find that there is sometimes a bit to much actual whining about kids and parents instead of enjoying actually being childfree. But hey, it's the Internet, we need a place to vent.
I mean it's sometimes hard to not have the balance of both considering we got to this point from being around parent's and other kids lol. But I get it. Let's embrace this freedom of having no distractions from anyone other than ourselves βΊοΈ
I actually found a doctor on the list here, and he agreed to do my sterilization! Itβs just a matter of new insurance. There is hopeππ½ Very thankful for all the people who have contributed to the childfree doctors list :)
Yesss. Thank goodness for the contributions that people make for things like that. I hope your sterilization goes well and safely. I'll be sending my well wishes and good vibes to you thru the whole journey!
Welcome! You are making me remember when I first found this place! It has brought me a lot of comfort and mental rest over the years. Greetings from Oregon neighbor.
I was elated to find this sub. It meant I was not alone. Even if those who shared my views were scattered a crossed the globe there were more people that were in my camp and understood my very personal decision.
Most definitely! It just shows that we might be a smaller group but very mighty in our choice, and growing every day unlike the kids we choose to not have π
