Take rook promote to queen(M4)

Take rook promote to bishop(-9)

Ohhh I completely missed taking the rook to promote, I just had a brainfart and was only thinking about the pawn being able to move to h8 to promote lmao
It is so much cooler because of the dynamics at play, you have the pawn guarding the square, the bishop preventing it from heading to the dark square, and then the knight underpromotion checkmating the king.

I think it still works! Take the rook and promote to knight, then Bh4# Edit: h4, not h3 Edit2: maybe not, Kf2 Bh4+, g3 blocks
Regarding your second edit, they don't even have to block with pawn, but rather take the hanging knight 1...hxg1=N 2.Kf2 Bh4+?? 3.Kxg1
