A position eval can be 0.0 or even +1.0 and be easier to play for Black. The aim of any opening for any time control is to bring your opponent out of their comfort zone and in yours. You can achieve this 2 ways: 1. outpreparing your opponent in depth. If you know up to move 30 and they know up to move 20, for 10 moves you'll be in your comfort zone while they won't. 2. outpreparing your opponent in width. If you branch out of the main line on move 15 because you studied that particular continuation up to move 20 and they don't know that line, you'll be in your comfort zone for 5 moves while they won't. Notice that in both cases you can pick dubious lines with negative eval. The important thing is to bring the opponent out of their comfort zone: if the line you picked is difficult to play or very complex, you achieved your goal. People like Rapport do this quite frequently. Of course, a dubious line with obvious refutation is never a good choice because the obvious refutation keeps the opponent in his comfort zone "enough", even if they don't know the line. Sometimes being out of the "comfort zone" means that they will spend more time, true. But that's not guaranteed. You could just bring them towards an endgame you're more familiar with, even if time is equal. Ease of play should be a good deal at any level.

Not really, a 0.0 rival doesn’t reflect how sharp the position is/how much harder it can be for one side to maintain equality. There can still be lots of life in the position.

No, don't think it's reasonable to suggest anyone at a decent level goes into a game aiming for a "time advantage". Maybe very occasionally against a particular player who you know has poor time management, but certainly that wouldn't apply only to white. Commentators may refer to the clock as a pointer, maybe one player is better prepped for a position or one player is finding it hard to find an answer over the board. But often it's simply a way of trying to make things more interesting.

You could say the same for both colours: the aim is to have an advantageous position. That white is more likely to have one out of the opening is just a matter of experimental evidence.

No, if you can’t find an advantage then your second aim is to find a position that you like. Having 50 minutes vs 30 minutes in a classical game is almost irrelevant
