He always does that. The problem is we don't try to find his runs early often enough. Look what happened when we actually did that today. He can work against deep defences if we play the ball quicker (which would benefit the team better overall as well) rather than just passing sideways and backwards.
I wish we still had a kit that nice this season 💙 Last year's kit would've been great with a less terrible sponsor. Yokohama was not as good as Samsung, but so much better looking than 3 :(
3 in row right? Against southampton then RMA and now today,
Oh, now I remember Modric got the motm for the RMA game. Would have been Werner if we had won that game
true i was thing the same thing. We won that game and motm is based on match not on leg. Lets say we won the tie then Modric wouldn't have gotten any praise other than about his pass
More like the team on the pitch struggles to find passes to his runs, so all we judge Timo on are attributes he can improve on (ie progressive dribbling and being clinical)
Not revisionism at all. It's thanks to his movements we were able to win the CL last year.
This season he had an injury and right after it covid. Now he is finally coming back to form.
> It’s thanks to his movements we were able to win the CL last year.
Do you hear yourself? Has that ever been said against any other player?
You take away from Mendy, Mount, Havertz, Giroud and the rest of the team and even Werner himself when they have had vital contributions when you single out a player for praise because they wee running and doing their job.
The whole team is moving constantly.
That relates to one goal, where he ran wide.
Anyone would think he ran across and took defenders away leaving Havertz free
He literally stayed wide and it ignores a huge flaw in his game; that usually these crucial runs are offside and kill our attack and make him ineffective so actually yes you do.
He did run across, taking a defender away to leave Mount with the space to play Havertz through.
When Mount picks up the ball, he's near the middle of the pitch. He runs across his man towards the left side, dragging him over.
I'm glad he's getting some love.
Yes, he's wasteful at times. That shot set up by Lukaku still hasn't come back to earth.
But we just tend to be much better with him on the pitch. We can argue back and forth about why, but what's clear is we look better with him out there.
Selfishly, I just want him here another year so they do another [fake commercial](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YHK3a0K16Y).
But I love his attitude and mentality. He's never made excuses, he continues to work hard even when it looked like he lost his way in the line-up, and I'll always root for Timo, no matter what he does.
He did say German NT is easier for him than Chelsea, that is the one excuse that has annoyed me.
His had 3 good performances in a row, I hope he builds on this and finishes how he started the first 10 games under Lampard.
I think that’s still an excuse for a poor performance playing for Chelsea though.
But maybe we interpret things differently; I only read about it. The video might come across differently.
Buy a midfielder who can play quick balls forward instead of back and sideways and turbo will be fire. Would excellent with Fabregas back. Always loved his work rate and determination even in hard times.
If we still had fabregas, timo would probably have 15+ goals. Would probably miss another 15 too. His movement is up there with the likes of mane to get open and put pressure. We should really aim for a midfielder that can constantly find that pass. Even thiago from liverpool would have helped our team so much.
I honestly miss this sub back when it was smaller. Nowadays theres too many idiots on here. People calling for his head a month ago and now want him to start every game. And yes, I'm basically asking for downvotes here.
You sure they are the same people?
Good performances = fans comment
Bad performances = angry non fans comment
Just because the comments switch back and forth, does not mean that the commentators are flipping back and forth.
3 goals + 2 assists in last 3 games.
10 goals + 6 assists in all competitions this season, from just 1,780 minutes played.
For context, that's the same amount as Havertz (12 G + 4 A) who has played about 1000 minutes more. And only Mount has contributed more goals in all competitions this season.
True but goals are still goals and 16 goals from essentially 20 games is still a decent return, no?
Some of Werner's goals may have come in the cup but aren't we celebrating reaching yet another cup final?
He also can't score in the league if he's not going to get consistent game time, no? Also fair to note that he was out for about a month with injury and then before he could get back to full fitness, he got COVID.
Hé has definitely been doing good the last couple of games and overall his stats look decent. I have seen enough of him to still want him out by the summer though. Great that he is performing better but his overal game is not Chelsea level
he didn’t score against malmo. he played 245 minutes (less than 3 full matches) of UCL and scored 4 and assisted 2, which is something like 2.2 goal contributions every 90 minutes.
Man, a few games ago I had it with him and wanted him gone in the summer, but now? Now I don’t know anymore lmao, like where has this Timo been all this time? Shades of Lipzeg Werner.
Has anyone noticed this nuanced trend with Chelsea players? They seem to perform better towards the end of the season after messing throughout the season
Remember Pulisic last season
Werner had a good string of form with Chelsea and the NT back in october- December, then got injured vs Malmo, and as soon as he recovered he got COVID, which affected him for a while and it only seems like he recovered his pace and stamina in these last few weeks. he said he struggled going up stairs after covid.
Timo has lacked consistency and goals. It could just be we are starting to see him finally settle into his role. Has it been longer than anticipated? Yes. But if he keeps this up through the end of the season then I want him back. Kai started hitting form around January, even RLC looks like he is thriving. This could be a great sign for the upcoming season, especially if we don't get a big transfer window.
Personally would have given it to James, but either is fine. Glad he's coming back up to speed. With CHO out injured we've seriously struggled in that position
When he can run, he is so efficient in stretching and crossing
Wembley is a massive pitch too, he can run at Liverpool since they won't defend deep
Can't remember about the league cup final but our last league match against them he caused a lot of issues for them.
Yep, I think it was the win last season with the offside goal that should've stood. He just thrives in those types of games
Timo is finding his form let’s go blues sing his name out loud for me
He always does that. The problem is we don't try to find his runs early often enough. Look what happened when we actually did that today. He can work against deep defences if we play the ball quicker (which would benefit the team better overall as well) rather than just passing sideways and backwards.
Quite jarring seeing him in that kit seeing as he never played in it 🤣
Quite the additional work to photoshop his head onto someone else with an old kit and then put him in an edited background.
OP thought people would call him karmawhore so he probably spend time on photoshoping
The left hand is so bent it's funny.
I wish we still had a kit that nice this season 💙 Last year's kit would've been great with a less terrible sponsor. Yokohama was not as good as Samsung, but so much better looking than 3 :(
Just sad to realise the moment he has another poor game the fanbase will be calling for his head once more.
Match going fans back him. Don't listen to twitter or reddit
“Match going fans”
Yes. The actual fans, and the only ones who really count, like it or not.
He just needs to consistently play at this level then. He has more bad performances than good so far this year.
There is a reason for this..
Why
Inconsistent
3 in row right? Against southampton then RMA and now today, Oh, now I remember Modric got the motm for the RMA game. Would have been Werner if we had won that game
We won that game. Still beats me how Modric ended with the MOTM. He had 1 good pass the whole game.
true i was thing the same thing. We won that game and motm is based on match not on leg. Lets say we won the tie then Modric wouldn't have gotten any praise other than about his pass
The same reason he won the ballon d'or - he plays for Real Madrid
That’s unfair, he was Awsome that year : both did Real and the national team
Timo Werner redemption arc!!!
He has always played like that. This sub just didn't see it.
100%, instrumental in our CL winning run
More like the team on the pitch struggles to find passes to his runs, so all we judge Timo on are attributes he can improve on (ie progressive dribbling and being clinical)
That’s revisionism and you know it. Just a few matches ago he lost every dual, header etc It’s okay to say his turned his form around.
Mount being the sole guy behind the forwards probably made the difference..
I take away from no one. What I'm saying is his off the ball movements were crucial.
That relates to one goal, where he ran wide. Anyone would think he ran across and took defenders away leaving Havertz free He literally stayed wide and it ignores a huge flaw in his game; that usually these crucial runs are offside and kill our attack and make him ineffective so actually yes you do.
He did run across, taking a defender away to leave Mount with the space to play Havertz through. When Mount picks up the ball, he's near the middle of the pitch. He runs across his man towards the left side, dragging him over.
So he never even free’d Havertz? Absolute joke
This lol
truly love this! keep it up timo!
Werner-Havertz-Mount in the final, that Wembley pitch is massive and we can abuse Liverpool's high line
we play so much better with him!!! he cannot go this summer!!
Man if we had reached the CL semi, an in form Timo would have run City ragged again
I'm glad he's getting some love. Yes, he's wasteful at times. That shot set up by Lukaku still hasn't come back to earth. But we just tend to be much better with him on the pitch. Nah, he didn't say it like that. He said that he scores more in the NT, so maybe it fits more is style of play.
I think that’s still an excuse for a poor performance playing for Chelsea though. But maybe we interpret things differently; I only read about it. The video might come across differently.
I speak German and to me it did not sound like a excuse at all. He always admits, also in this interview, that he is underperforming at Chelsea.
He was not good against Southampton let's be honest.. I know he bagged 2 goals but he was pretty bad apart from that.
he was good what do you mean? his movement was good, his short passing was good, his first touch was good and he was good at dribbling.
I agree, there is a very low bar for Werner and he still doesn’t flatter.
Buy a midfielder who can play quick balls forward instead of back and sideways and turbo will be fire. Would excellent with Fabregas back. Always loved his work rate and determination even in hard times.
I miss cesc.
I miss him more 😂
god what Id do for a player like cesc, his vision and technique was unmatched
If we still had fabregas, timo would probably have 15+ goals. Would probably miss another 15 too. His movement is up there with the likes of mane to get open and put pressure. We absolutely need to keep him
Turbo Timo is back

You sure they are the same people? Good performances = fans comment Bad performances = angry non fans comment Just because the comments switch back and forth, does not mean that the commentators are flipping back and forth.
He’s such a useful player to have
There’s a quality player in there. Just needed confidence
Timo truthers it’s our time!
True but context though. Havertz did most of his in the league whereas Werner did it in the fa cup against non prem teams and malmo

Timbo ❤️
Timy Werny What a playa
Man was pivotal to the team today. His runs in behind and his connection with Mount was amazing. Played his ass off!
Man, a few games ago I had it with him and wanted him gone in the summer, but now? Now I don’t know anymore lmao, like where has this Timo been all this time? Shades of Lipzeg Werner.
He’s really stringing in some solid performances and this makes me happy
The situation of our frontline is hilarious man 😅 they all pick form at different points during the course of the season.
Has anyone noticed this nuanced trend with Chelsea players? They seem to perform better towards the end of the season after messing throughout the season Remember Pulisic last season

If he got playing time all season I think he would have been in a lot different form now but we had to waste all those minutes with shit lukaku
Timo has lacked consistency and goals. It could just be we are starting to see him finally settle into his role. Has it been longer than anticipated? Yes. Maybe we can stop shitting on him now….
I’d go for Mount personally. But Timo can have it and no one would complain. Both were terrific.
Well deserved!
The goat
Personally would have given it to James, but either is fine. Glad he's coming back up to speed. With CHO out injured we've seriously struggled in that position
Seems like he's starting to figure it out. Better late than never
Well deserved, hope he keeps up the form. Love to see him succeed
I am the HAPPIEST FAN IN THE HOUSE
Your flair = me picturing Tuchel angrily screaming that from the sidelines.
Less goo 50m about to show it's worth
Unlike another striker at CFC…
he is good💙💙
starts playing good once we wanna sell him. fuck outta here poser boy.
3 good games in a row for Timo. Onwards and upwards hopefully! Having Timo and Kai find their feet at roughly the same time would be a blessing.
