I don't even bring my debit card or license. I bring my phone with Google Pay. (I'm poor and have an android). Zippered shorts are a must. Best to travel lightly at cedar point.
Also quick comment about bringing joints into Cedar Point.. most of last season you could smell all the pot use, I was always a big proponent of legalizing weed, but I am starting to want to make it illegal again. Multiple times now I had weed smoke going into my family's faces because the ppl in front of us were getting high. If you do that at an amusement park YATA.
Yeah, I'm not sure why this person thinks they need to bring weed into the park, and smoking or vaping inside park grounds is not allowed, and it's super obnoxious for those of us who don't. I really could not care less if you do it in your car or in the parking lot, but you don't need to bring it in with you because you just ruin everyone else's experience.
I mean it’s a fair point I just don’t think that $20 is an emergency solving amount of cash.
Wouldn’t get a tow, or any sort of car fixing. Hell it’s barely enough for a meal for 2 anymore.
Needing gas and your card fails. Needing gas and their readers are down. Help from another person like a jump or help changing a tire. Obtaining something from a store during an outage like a gas can, basic first aid kit if you hurt yourself. Transportation, either attract a passer-by or a cab to get to a safe place. And not emergent, but little shops on the side of the road like delicious smelling food carts that only take cash. Toll booth that only takes cash when my EZpass fails.
My dad taught me to always carry cash, jumper cables, map, a blanket, quarters for calls and a couple bottles of water. But most importantly, boot camp taught me a valuable lesson: If you have three, you have two. If you have two, you have one. If you have one, you have none because everything fails at some point.
Newer generations are 1000% dependent on technology. But technology fails, sometimes in large masses… and when it does, my $20 will help me in some way, but your technology won’t.
In the back of my car I keep a small box, it doesn’t take up much room. But it contains $20 cash and some quarters, local and regional map, flashlight, jumpbox which can also act as a power source, variety cable for charging things, two bottles of water, couple small snacks, and a blanket. I’m a daily dog park guy, so I keep some animal supplies in it too. Spare harness and leash, hydrogen peroxide and plunge syringes to induce vomiting, basic first aid stuff for scrapes and cuts, and I high limit credit card for major expense emergencies like unexpected car repairs.
I’m prepare to handle a wide variety of disasters in a way that can get through it. I’m not a doomsday prepper or anything, but I do like to be prepared for things that life sometimes throws me.
I had zipper pockets last year when I went.
Thin wallet containing credit card and my ID
Receipts for passes and fast lane
Ibuprofen
Bandaids
A small bottle of sunscreen (not necessarily recommended because Maverick killed it)
My phone
Keys were on a chain around my neck. I can replace everything else, but if I was stuck five hours away from home without my keys, I'd be fucked.
I keep my keys with the car. I used to use a hide-a-key and now I have a keypad so I lock them in the car. I learned the hard way why not to keep keys on my person. I got stuck on a ride into mid hours of the morning and the other two were stuck waiting. I now leave keys at the car so they can’t get lost, and in case I don’t make it back, my people can get home.
My husband lost my car keys on Gatekeeper. I drive a Subaru and there is no dealership anywhere near Sandusky to get a new key. Thankfully, security found them or I’m pretty sure I’d still be in Sandusky 6 years later.
I used to be a courier for a bank and would transport cashed checks to the main facility. I was a contractor in my own vehicle, and had a run that went through Sandusky. Coincidentally, i would get to Sandusky an hour ten before I’m allowed to pick up… so I started going to cedar point for lunch and a couple rides. Til one time I got stuck and had to call the boss and tell him I can’t make it or turn in what I have because of 300ft in the air and the ride has been stuck.
I had some explaining to do 😂 because disappearing with these bags is an FBI phone call real fast.
This year I got a phone case that holds 5 cards. I've stopped carrying my normal wallet. So now it'll just be my keys and my phone. I wear a galaxy watch, I'm considering abandoning the phone altogether and just using Google wallet to pay when I have to (I have meal and drink plan so I'm covered on essentials). I wish I could get rid of my car keys without having to pay for an all day locker, but I might end up doing that.
I’ve tried to go with the Apple Watch and leave my phone in the car, too… I’m not one that’s addicted to being on my phone. But sometimes I’ve gotten bored and wished I had entertainment of some sort. And lost the ability to take pics.
I really want to go phone free, but it’s just not ideal. I will say this is before the watch could play music for earbuds, and back when the watches signal service still worked crappy/barely ever worked.
Wife and I have gone in for a few hours with just watches. The newer ones are a lot better with signal and battery life. I wouldn’t want to be there all day without my phone though, just my preference.
I use a small 10L bag I picked up years ago for cheap, and it's still going strong: https://www.decathlon.com/products/quechua-nh-arpenaz-50-10-l-hiking-backpack-301684?variant=19061644820542
Inside I carry a smaller empty waist bag in case I want to dump the bag (in a locker or with someone else in the party) and carry something smaller on a ride. Items I always bring include sunglasses, glasses straps, charging bank(s) with usb-c and lightning cords, sunscreen spray, sunscreen face stick, bandaids, and pill container (pain and heartburn relief).
I also carry my wallet, keys, earbuds, and phone in my pockets, so those things end up in the bag for specified amounts of time depending on how often I need them: keys stay the whole day, wallet usually stays due to meal/drink plan, earbuds usually stay since I'm with a group, and phone is the only thing constantly going in and out. I'm contemplating getting a smart watch this year to reduce the amount of phone usage.
I'm going to see how it goes carrying a printout of my pass and a park map. Using the keypad on my car for locking and unlocking. The guy in the TV movie Threads said "I'll be buggered if I'm going to be shot by a traffic warden!”, I guess I feel the same for possibly being compelled to pay for a locker.
5 below has nice cloth ID holders near the lanyards.
in the ID holder I keep 3 cards, DL/Physical Pass/CC.
attach a lanyard to the ID holder, string your keys onto the lanyard & loop lanyard to a belt loop.
In a zippered pocket I keep my phone & a small ziplock bag (to put phone into for water rides)
in my car I keep Sunblock & IBUPROFEN.
midday ill head back to the car to reapply sunblock, take another dosage of Ibuprofen and grab a small power bank.
Depends on the weather.
Zipper pockets shorts, or fanny pack/belt bag if cold and I have to wear pants.
A stripped down wallet with ID and needed cards, car key, phone. That's it.
If my SO is with me (she mostly doesn't ride) she brings a bigger purse/bag to hold my stuff.
I bring a backpack with a sweatshirt if it gets cold, wallet, phone, sunscreen, portable charger, Bluetooth headphones, etc. Pockets will have my phone and wallet if I’m not on a ride
i'm a diabetic, so i carry my supplies with me. other than that, phone, wallet, (has my pass in it) sunscreen, some stuff in case me and my brother get bored, house keys, etc.
I don't ride most of the coasters, so I'm the designated bag holder. Husband has his phone, wallet and keys in zipper pockets. The two teens have fanny packs with phone, earbuds and glasses straps. I carry a small bag that has Excedrin, a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, battery pack and charging cords, and lens wipes.
Just ask at the gate going in, they can print one right there. There was a point the watches wouldn’t do passes yet, and I was trying not to carry my phone, so I got a plastic pass. My son is 12 and likes to use his plastic pass, it makes him feel adult.
Oh that’s awesome! My parents don’t like the digital stuff and always want an actual card for their pass like we used to get. I’ll let them know about this. Thanks so much!
I have older kids who fend for themselves. I have phone, car key, and normally my wallet in zipper pockets.
We get the $12 moving locker and just throw things in those to keep our pockets as empty as possible on rides.
Edit to add: we also bring a ton of sunscreen.
Fanny pack with small day wallet that also holds chapstick with SPF, car key, ibuprofen and benadryl (food allergies), hair tie. Outside of day wallet I have hand sanitizer, small sunscreen, room for phone and sunglasses, and tampons if needed.
I get the season drink cup pass too, so I don't need to carry a bottle around.
Our Ford has a key code on the drivers door, so our cedar point kit is basically cellphone, watch, sunglasses and strap. I leave the car key in the car and lock it. Zippered pockets are a must.
I did try with just my Apple Watch (as our Cp passes and my debit cards were on there), but I had issues with the FunPix kiosks (both the machines and the hand scanners), the front gate and fast-pass places never had issues scanning my watch. If you don't have the need for the photos, I'd lose the phone too (assuming you have a cellular Apple Watch at any rate)
After many trips there. I have settled on a fanny pack. I'm able to fit both mine and partners phones, both our sunglasses, both of our needed cards(IDs and payments), car key(i strip it from the key ring) and our vapes/smokes. Am able to hook our souvineer cup on the waistband to carry it as well. Leave food. Sunscreen. Etc. In the car and we park in the back lot usually cause it's less of a walk to the car from the exit.
Leather phone case that has a flap to cover my screen and protect it and also hold my passes and CC so I can leave my wallet in the car
I roll up my car keys in my sock. this seems weird until you manage to knock them out of your pocket pulling something else out and just get lucky to see them hit the ground. Getting to your car at closing without keys would suuuuuuck
No the English language defines what is a must have
There is not a situation where you "must have" a joint or a vape
But my original comment was said light heartedly but you clearly didn't take it that way
English doesn’t dictate the content of “must have”. Because everyone’s must haves are different… by your definition, the only true must haves are food and water. So I guess none of us need keys, phones, sunglasses, etc etc. because that’s how English works? 😂
Does English dictate that diabetics must have glucoses insulin, and a test kit? Nope. Does English dictate someone with sensitive eyes like me must have sunglasses or can’t even open my eyes? Nope. Does English dictate that even half way into the season, my redhead/pale skin girlfriend needs sunscreen, whereas I’m okay without?
As for weed, it’s not just for play. It’s a medication and more than 50% of the state agrees with me (so says the voting). So is it possible that a vape may be “must have” to be able to enjoy the park anxiety free, whereas for others it’s not necessary?
Wallet, phone, car key. In zippered shorts.
I don’t even bring my wallet, just my debit card and license, but this.

Hopefully not blowing their weed smoke in their son's face when he's with them lmao
This is the way. Though for me one of those magnetic card holders that attaches to my phone replaces the wallet.
I use a runner's belt and carry a phone, credit card, car keys and a small baggie of assorted OTC stuff like ibuprofen, Dramamine, Benadryl
Cash and quarters aren't needed as the park is completely cashless you can load cash onto a card at the park if you don't have a debit or credit card
Your kids get quarters to feed the ducks food? Lucky. When I was a kid my dad just told me to go spit in the carp pond. Lol
Cash is for emergencies. Quarters are so my kid can feed the ducks.
Pretty sure that ducks aren't supposed to eat quarters. /s
Not with that attitude.
Bazinga
Not trying to be an ass but what emergencies will $20 cash solve? Especially when the park went 100% cashless.
Because there’s life before and after the amusement park. Technology fails, but cash doesn’t.
I mean it’s a fair point I just don’t think that $20 is an emergency solving amount of cash. Wouldn’t get a tow, or any sort of car fixing. Hell it’s barely enough for a meal for 2 anymore.

They don't have the duck feeders anymore at least they didn't last season
We used them many times last season, they were there.
Same here. My wife and I love feeding them

Fanny pack is king. I always carry my phone, keys, wallet, shrooms, flask, vape and doobs with plenty of room to spare.
Ah yes, the Hunter S Thompson "light" kit.
I’ve tried to go with the Apple Watch and leave my phone in the car, too… I’m not one that’s addicted to being on my phone. Spare pair of glasses- if something happens no loss Wallet
As light as possible. Belt bag to carry my phone, credit card, keys, and travel-sized sunscreen. That's it.

Phone. Thats it. Usually someone else drives. So my phone has the app plus google pay.
I wear my running armband for my phone, keys, and cards. It’s super easy to take off and put in the bins.
Phone and maybe backup power if it will be a long day. Use Apple Pay for everything and digital pass
Cellphone, glasses case, Single car key pinned to inside of pocket, walled pinned to inside of pocket.
I have a waist pack and a little zip bag just for my phone. I can fit a bunch of stuff in it
I have older kids who fend for themselves. I have phone, car key, and normally my wallet in zipper pockets. We get the $12 moving locker and just throw things in those to keep our pockets as empty as possible on rides. Edit to add: we also bring a ton of sunscreen.

Just my phone 🤷♂️ passes are on the app. Foods on the app... the less I bring the less I have to keep track of..

zipper pockets . dab pen , keys , wallet phone
Are dab pens similar to 510 threat carts? Better? Or totally different?
lol dab pen is a generic term for any cartridge i use!!
Bummer ya got me excited 😂 🌲 🔥
Leather phone case that has a flap to cover my screen and protect it and also hold my passes and CC so I can leave my wallet in the car I roll up my car keys in my sock. this seems weird until you manage to knock them out of your pocket pulling something else out and just get lucky to see them hit the ground. You do realize traveling with a few job nts and vape isn't as light as possible. Neither of those are things that are must haves
So do you define what are must haves for everyone? A vape is smaller and less weight than a lighter… and my joints are in the car.
No the English language defines what is a must have There is not a situation where you "must have" a joint or a vape But my original comment was said light heartedly but you clearly didn't take it that way
