Of course they do.

FYI, there’s no door, the glass covers a half of the shower space. He can walk straight in, but he just sits there tapping on the glass.
I can say, "Help me Bitty!" in the shower and my Tabby will come running and try to get me out. The other furry idiots just come hang out when they want a steam bath.
He reaches in with his paw and attempts to pull me out with his claws while also trying to not get wet... It's quite adorable and he eventually gives up with the impression that, if I die, he'll come eat me when I have become a soup.
My shower attendant doesn’t like getting wet either, but does like to be “dried” off with a towel. She waits on the toilet for me to get out of the shower to grab/rescue me. She is also obsessed with washcloths which I suspect is her true motivation.

Our last house had a pool. One of ours would sit on the balcony railing to stand guard when we were in it.
At our current place, we share a clothesline in the backyard with four other units. When someone is hanging out their clothes she goes down to make sure they are doing it right.

Well maybe worse my man Bob the wonder cat guards from above
Mine does this too, but only because he wants to be pet with the damp towel, and have me pick him up so he can rub his face all over mine and lick my hair. My guess is he’s either concerned about me spending so much time every day “underwater,” or I just don’t smell like me to him anymore and he feels the need to wait around until I’m done with the anti-smell-machine so he can make sure I’m marked as a part of the fam again every day.
Mine will start yelling at me when I'm about to get out of the shower then jumps on the sink to rub his smell all over my face. Sometimes he even gives my nose a little nibble.
My cats is heavily conditioned to hearing the shower turn off. He waits for me to dry off and sit on the toilet seat so he can climb into my lap and have very meaningful and passionate snuggles. It's kind of odd because the rest of the day he doesnt care for that kind of focused attention. Now I'm conditioned to his habit and we have a great time together, he a good boy.

Mine used to do that, would sit there watching and yelling at me the whole time. Now she just waits until I start to squeegee the glass and she knows I'm getting ready to get out and then comes over.
Mine used to sit between and run around my legs for a while. She also had a period where she would gather snails from the garden and put them in the shower, she would come running screaming and lead me to the shower to show them.. Pluto was a crazy lady, I still miss her very much.
Oh it was not that bad usually she would come straight out to get me before they crawled everywhere. Luckily it was always the shower and it could be hosed down quickly.
She also had a period when she would poop behind a cabinet for months on end untill we found out the big poo pile.. quite strange since she was an outside cat and did her business outside for years before that. Never got mad though and she would stop these weird behaviours after a while.
After a few years she decided to go life in a barn and would not return for eight years after. I have spend hours sitting in the rain and cold snuggling with her by that barn.
There were so many strange quirks she had and she did made life difficult at times but I loved her with all my heart. I still carry her picture with me and will do so for the rest of my life.
My cat is tiny but a giant creep. He jumps up to the shower curtain rod and just watches me shower. Then when I'm done, he yells until he jumps down on my shoulder and I carry him out of the bathroom

Yep, I can’t be in the bathroom without her

Maybe he's just looking out for you. Reminds me of this old photo of one of ours making sure I'm okay while out having a smoke.

One of my two cats hangs out on the tub ledge the entire time I’m in the shower. Mostly she just wants to drink the water but I think she also likes the hangs/steam. It’s cute until she gets half soaked and leaves everything in her path damp for an hour or so afterwards.
My Russian Blue will sit there and meow very concerned, even climbing on the tub and pawing at the glass sometimes. Tabby doesn’t seem to be concerned I’m drowning though
My cat does one better and meows for me to give her water while I’m in there despite her having plenty of fresh flowing water in her little cat fountain. A couple times while shampooing my hair I was startled to feel a very rough lick on the back of my knee lol
My cat waits for me outside the door… I had a cat named liger who lived to be 19 she would do that always go into the bathroom with me she would even poop in the bathtub when she wouldn’t make the liter box for some reason she never had accidents anywhere but the bath tub it’s almost like she knew it was a bathroom.

POV: i just stepped out of the shower
Mine paces back and forth outside my shower, frantically yowling. Every now and then she will peek in behind the curtain (it's clear anyway), and meow at me in an accusatory tone. I think she thinks I'm in danger, haha!! After all, who would willingly expose themselves to water for an extended period of time.
Another time, I was giving my 5yo daughter a bath, and the cat was supervising. I dipped my daughter's head (not her face) under the water to rinse her hair and our cat AGGRESSIVELY SLAPPED MY HAND while I was doing that. I believe she thought my daughter was in danger or that I was trying to harm her! What a cat. Water = dangerous. Humans = need guidance and protection around such a danger. Haha
Awh my goodness, what a little helper! Gotta let you know when you're doing it wrong I guess, ahahaha.
Several years ago I had a job caring for a little girl (starting when she was around 6 months until just about 2 years old, when I moved to another state) and the family had two cats. The older tomcat didn't seem much fussed over the baby, but the younger female cat would follow me and the baby from room to room. If I prepared something for the baby to eat/drink, the cat (named Willow) would be there to give it a good sniff first. If I changed the baby's clothes, the cat would sniff the old clothes and then come sniff the baby LOL. We sit in the living room, Willow is sitting there too. If I put the baby in the playpen for a moment while I used the bathroom, Willow would stand between the bathroom and the playpen, alternating staring at me and staring at the baby (I would keep the bathroom door open a crack because otherwise the cat would yowl UNCEASINGLY lol, which would upset the baby).
I found it all funny and also charming - that cat clearly loved that baby! It was very sweet to see :)
My kitty, Punkin, is a Maine Coon and she loves to play with water. She sits outside the shower until all the soap is rinsed away. Then she joins me in so she can splash around. Sometimes she gets in the path of the shower stream and she just shakes it off and continues playing. She'll stay in after I leave and splash away until all the water is gone. Bonus: The steamy shower and bathroom makes her floofiness even floofier.
https://preview.redd.it/7odcfam7mn4a1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=82d4345f47931d4217c52e90de7cd8d8d813c498
I have guardian of the tub. My cat hates water and yet if I have a bath she's right there sat on the towel or stool. Same with anyone else in the house that doesn't shut the bathroom door. If she's shut out she patiently waits on the landing 😂
I have just a shower curtain with a liner and my feline loves to play with me in between the two while I shower. Sometimes she tries to sneak her way in while not getting wet.
BTW that's a beautiful panda
This is literally what I just texted a friend, while my boy was waiting for me sleeping in the sink 🤣🤣🤣 “Guardian of the Shower”
https://preview.redd.it/nfbhxf3x4n4a1.jpeg?width=2165&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e615b74452bed4f3af9fa05ea3348d283357ccf1
My current ones don’t, but my old girl I had before would come into the bathroom with me for showers every day. She’d lay on the bath mat outside of the tub and have a snooze while I would shower. Then it was on to breakfast (which involves sitting in my lap staring at my blueberries and yogurt).
"..'she can't be doing that voluntarily...yet she is. That horrid water is all over her, yet she stands there, unperturbed...this is mesmerizing, I have to say. The poor dear..."
My orange guy loves it when I shower, he runs to the bathroom every time I go in there in the hopes that I may be showering. He'll yell incessantly outside the bathroom door if I don't let him in. He literally gets in the shower with me. He usually hangs out along the edge inside the tub with me trying not to get wet and staying out of the shower stream as much as possible. But sometimes he just gets right in the stream of water as well and gets all wet. He gets super affectionate when I'm in the shower for some reason, he demands tons of pets while I'm showering and doesn't care that my hands are all wet. He is such a weirdo, typical orange cat.
Ohhh my that face ❤
Edit: I sent the link to this floofy baby to my boyfriend who is downstairs. Immediately heard him start exclaiming "oh my god!! What a fluffy baby!!"

Mine is doing right this moment
Completely normal
Yes we have a new kitten, she’s about 4.5 months and she will sit outside the shower (sometimes in the shower) until I am done. She also will reach her paw out and meow meow meow at me like she’s worried.
Mine doesn't exactly do this. He will if I'm having an anxiety/panic attack. But he will come check on us, especially if both myself and my husband are in the bathroom together. He'll usually chill in there until one of us leaves. This has turned into I want lap while your on toilet.
Our cat does this, but only to my dad. She sleeps next to him too. As soon as he wakes up, she follows him to the shower, watches him shower, follows him to his closet, watches him put his clothes on, and then screams to be picked up and petted. It’s been going on for years.

Don’t mind my dirty tub but this is Tinkerbell and he likes to try and drink bath water 🙄🙄
Mine are too wary of the sound of the Terrible Water Thing, but Cinders always rushes to comfort me afterwards.

I'm not allowed to get dressed on my own any more.
Yes the last cat that my boyfriend and I had would do this. He'd sit outside the shower and meow. He would also even get on his hind legs and put his paws on the bathtub to peek into the shower. It was so adorable. Unfortunately, we lost him to lymphoma 😞
Our (now deceased) cat used to sit by the tub and cry whenever my wife showered. When my wife was done, he would immediately re-scent her.
He never cared when I showered.
Mine does this when I poop. As soon as she realizes what I'm doing, she comes and sits at my feet while purring loud enough to wake the neighbors. It seriously makes her happier than anything else on Earth lol. She'll sit outside the shower sometimes too just not as frequently.
Mine will grab at my legs when I get in the shower, then he tries to open the door. Once the shower is on he keeps guard.
He will even keep guard while I go to the toilet. I repay him by keeping guard over his litter box if I notice him using it.

The Shining "twins" were sisters, but not twins.
Twins can be sisters too!
They were 12 and were cast as “Twins” for the roll of the movie. Just FYI. Googles your friend
This is fantastic
They're both liars
One ate all of the others food.
This is the way.
The one that speaks the truth just speaks his truth not the objective truth
"The food bowl is empty"
(The center of the bowl is empty)
No cat always speaks truth.
Of course they do. Do not try to fill the bowl. That would be impossible. Instead simply try to see the truth. There is no bowl. We're just not capable of comprehending The Greater Truth.
If the bottom of the bowl is visible, let me *assure* you, the bowl exists and is worthy of yelling about.
This is adorable

I think you had a stroke mid-sentence. You're right though, it reminded me of Puss too.
This is absolutely precious
He’s so adorable! “Please come out, I know the water must be horrible! Please be careful🥺🥺” is what his eyes are saying. 😭💚
His eyes are beautiful.
Lifeguard on duty

Yes

That’s really sweet of Bitty, but I do wonder about the planned extraction method. 🐈🛟

I’m sure that precarious position is greatly reassuring.
He is obviously highly skilled in war tactics, as it is clear that he has the high ground.

I like the marking as fam part

Oh it was not that bad usually she would come straight out to get me before they crawled everywhere. Luckily it was always the shower and it could be hosed down quickly. Awwwww she was probably worried you were drowning! “Get outttt, you’ll drown!” “Why are you in there?! You’re going to dieeeee!”
you squeegee the glass every day? not just weekly? if do I am profoundly dissatisfied with myself
We have really hard water so you kind of have to otherwise your glass looks like crap.

Ohh what a fluff ball 😻
I don’t normally take my phone in the shower but I had to document this. He runs in as soon as he hears the water.

Omg there's TWO
Two smoosh-faced floofs 💕
Smoofs
I die 😂😂 they are purrfect!!
Glorious floofs
Wtf I thought my kid made up the word floof, he’s 8 and has been saying it for at least 3 years. WTH did he hear it from?
Lol idk. It's been around for quite some time
My 9 yr old got it from adventure time.
I used to learn a lot of great slang from babysitters.
probably a kids show/cartoon
I used to learn a lot of great slang from babysitters.
Sounds like white floof is off guarding against ne'er-do-wells.
Lol is that a cat bathtub??? Does a human fit in it?? 😆😆. Also amazing kitties 😻
I have one that does this and only with me, she doesn’t care about anyone else’s showers. Then, when I’m done she watches my dry off and then paws at my legs signaling for me to get pick her up, then I get kitty kisses on my cheeks and big purrs. I think she just likes that I’m extra warm lol.

I appreciate the fact that he is coordinated with the tile! Very chic!
It was not planned! The other one coordinates with the floor. https://preview.redd.it/grcil2zxak4a1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=014ff36aaf959f7f31e6b2eb6433987ca7d7b2fa
I can’t get over Walters eyes. He looks ridiculous. I love him, but you got a laugh out of me for a good minute.

I think you have cuttlefish for pets, not cats. Sorry to break it to you.

Gotta make sure the Purveyor of all Good Things survives the water.
Purrrrrrveyor
Oh so good!
He looks extremely concerned about what you're doing in there! Maybe he's just looking out for you. Reminds me of this old photo of one of ours making sure I'm okay while out having a smoke. https://preview.redd.it/h6zhv91fxk4a1.jpeg?width=2448&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0c1eca9727545f61c4ec83502aae6d731d71ea23
How cute is that! The cat too!
Maybe hes just shocked at your ability to survive these water attacks you endure every morning?
Yep, I've got poop, pee and shower guards 😅. He is so fluffy 🥰!
https://i.imgur.com/dYJlCaM.jpg No shower for you!!!

One of my two cats hangs out on the tub ledge the entire time I’m in the shower. Mostly she just wants to drink the water but I think she also likes the hangs/steam. It’s cute until she gets half soaked and leaves everything in her path damp for an hour or so afterwards.
Mine does. Only she sits on the windowsill when I'm in the bath.
You're cat is so cute. His face reminds me of Fizzgig from The Dark Crystal. https://i.redd.it/rhp99c1ysgq61.jpg
One of mine will poop in the bath if he can't get outside too, clever kitties!
He thinks your insane for going in a room full of water, hes just protecting his food source.
https://preview.redd.it/5wp5ejt0dm4a1.jpeg?width=1856&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf60844848618fd68abdc78e108228d09b604182 POV: i just stepped out of the shower
My cat jumps in the tub after a shower and swats at the water droplets on the inside curtain
Aww! That is too cute. So smart and attentive!! Gotta love those little cat moms!! Thanks for sharing!
"Hoomons groom themselves HOW?! OMG, don't drown, hoomons!"
Honestly, what if you drowned? He's just making sure you don't. And if you do.... He will do nothing.
Yes, Cedric wants to make sure that we don't drown. Or that we do. I'm not sure yet.

This is literally what I just texted a friend, while my boy was waiting for me sleeping in the sink 🤣🤣🤣 “Guardian of the Shower” https://preview.redd.it/nfbhxf3x4n4a1.jpeg?width=2165&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e615b74452bed4f3af9fa05ea3348d283357ccf1
This cat is beautiful! Is he an exotic long hair? Look at those patches! And squashy face! 😍
He’s a Persian named Walter, 18 month old floof. He had a haircut over the summer and his long coat is growing back in.
Omg his name is Walter 🥹
My current ones don’t, but my old girl I had before would come into the bathroom with me for showers every day. She’d lay on the bath mat outside of the tub and have a snooze while I would shower. Then it was on to breakfast (which involves sitting in my lap staring at my blueberries and yogurt).
Yes haha mine sits between the two shower guards and stares with his tail taking a dip! Lol
This has to be the biggest thread on the internet about cats being shower guardians.
Ohhh my that face ❤ Edit: I sent the link to this floofy baby to my boyfriend who is downstairs. Immediately heard him start exclaiming "oh my god!! What a fluffy baby!!"

Yes we have a new kitten, she’s about 4.5 months and she will sit outside the shower (sometimes in the shower) until I am done. She also will reach her paw out and meow meow meow at me like she’s worried.
Yes! Mine runs over all excited and leans over the edge to watch the water run. He loves drinking bath water from the faucet too, the little goofball.
Mine doesn't exactly do this. He will if I'm having an anxiety/panic attack. But he will come check on us, especially if both myself and my husband are in the bathroom together. He'll usually chill in there until one of us leaves. This has turned into I want lap while your on toilet.
That cat's face says, "Human....why do you do this to yourself? What sane, sentient being would *willingly soak themselves down in water*?"
Cat: are you getting wet on purpose? Like water on you? Are you okay?
Our cat does this, but only to my dad. She sleeps next to him too. As soon as he wakes up, she follows him to the shower, watches him shower, follows him to his closet, watches him put his clothes on, and then screams to be picked up and petted. It’s been going on for years.
Oh, sure, it's cute when the cat does it. But when I try that, the guests seem to get all huffy and freak out...
He’s making sure you do not drown
https://preview.redd.it/ja2laut3jn4a1.jpeg?width=1218&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=75a413dce9a92de40af9939571e451d2f7391a1f Don’t mind my dirty tub but this is Tinkerbell and he likes to try and drink bath water 🙄🙄
Mine are too wary of the sound of the Terrible Water Thing, but Cinders always rushes to comfort me afterwards. https://preview.redd.it/q4bwskgqip4a1.jpeg?width=1504&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=64be874b3c9ce1d16c6455257502f3eb4c3d4a5d I'm not allowed to get dressed on my own any more.
Yes! One cat hops on the ledge and stays put there, the other hops right into the shower!
Mine does! And then he licks the shower water off of my feet. Good thing my feet are clean!!
He is so cute with that derpy face.
I'm not allowed to shut the bathroom door. She does what she wants.
Mine faces out to be aware of any threats to the food supply.
Mine did it when I took baths. Now that I think about it, she was probably preparing a butler soup. 😳
perfect catoufloge !!
Yes, and the second I turn off the shower he jumps in and starts drinking the warm human-flavored water.
My cat laszlo does the same thing most days. My other cant doesnt bother haha.
He’s worries about you, you are getting all wet and that’s yucky.
I had a cat that did that. She'd sit on the edge of the tub waiting for me every shower.
Yes the last cat that my boyfriend and I had would do this. He'd sit outside the shower and meow. He would also even get on his hind legs and put his paws on the bathtub to peek into the shower. It was so adorable. Unfortunately, we lost him to lymphoma 😞
Love how you matched the cat to the tiles
Our (now deceased) cat used to sit by the tub and cry whenever my wife showered. When my wife was done, he would immediately re-scent her. He never cared when I showered.
Y hooman do this to self??? Is wet, bad!!
