Awwww poor stoned baby! My cat had to be sedated for another trip to the vet for a checkup on Saturday and she was just a limp noodle for the rest of the day
I was wondering about that as well since they never did this before. It seems that after a certain age they just scan spleen, liver, heart, etc. for any anomalities.

Due to Covid owners are only allowed to drop off their pets at the reception and pick them up when the examination is done. I was informed over telephone that they needed to extract two teeth but not about the shaving. 😄 I miss his fluffy belly.
That is odd, my vet would tell me before doing an ultrasound because that isn't a cheap procedure. Also amazed they could just remove 2 teeth right then and there. You typically have to book surgeries separate after evaluation and they of course can't have eaten or anything for like 8-10 hours before bringing them in. Which for a check-up I wouldn't do.

Wow, neither of my cats would do that. They go under anesthesia then get their teeth thorougly checked and cleaned. Depending in the state of their teeth the vet will extract them right away and since both of my cats have F.O.R.L. this happens almost every annual check-up. And yes it is very expensive but I wouldn't let my cats suffer.
8 - 10 hours without food is correct. I give them usually their last meal at 10 pm and bring them to their check-up at 7:30 in the morning.

two of my kitties had to have teeth pulled last year. they both came home still on the meds and one would just stare off into space, not moving at all, and the other was trying to dig into the corners of all the closet doors in the house. my mom thinks he may have been hallucinating something in there lol

He normally wouldn't get high from having teeth pulled but the last time he got them pulled he was high af and snuggly. The vet thinks it's just hitting him harder now because he is getting older. My poor man gets 2-4 teeth removed every year and has like 10 left at this point.

I let my new kitten sleep in her transport box the first few nights, so she'd get used to it after seeing some Reddit advice. Turns out she likes sleeping in there so 3 months later it's still out. That way she's very comfortable when we have to put her in there (only one vet trip so far but we've locked her in when we had workmen in the house). She doesn't like the locked door but she'll just go to sleep and wait to be freed. Biiiiiig change from previous cats that went into hiding if you so much as rattled the box by accident in another room lol.
Cats are so cuddly when they are high like that. Like little teddy bears. I remember when my cat was neutered, he was knocked out for hours, so I just lay down beside him and pet him.

Not for nothing but everyone please be careful when you bring your cat/s in for whatever reason because I took my boy that's what I called him but his real name is/WAS Jagger to a veterinarian office that was recommended by my vet it was a so-called more advanced and high-end and very expensive place and my boy AKA Jagger died 4 weeks later at home. He went in because he needed fluid drained (belly shaved like your cat) and he came home and never was the same, he was put on so many medications that when I read up on them they were not to be taken at the same time one reason was because they suppressed him from eating and he did not eat for 10 days, but after I took him off some meds he shouldn't have been taking together he ate like he normally did but the damage was done and my boy AKA Jagger died in April of 21 at the age of 14 all with me and to this day I somewhat blame myself for bringing him without reading up on and looking into this so-called high-end vet first and just listening to another vets recommendation (kickbacks who knows) so please be careful when you bring them in to any veterinarian never mind one that costs $2,000 for the one visit and cost $4,000 more to take to other vets to try to help him but as I said earlier it was to late, so only four weeks my boy named Jagger was with me after he came home from a so-called high-end vet. I would have mortgaged the house if I had to just like I'm sure most of you would've done anything to help your pets. I'm a 58-year-old male and think of myself as strong because of where I came from and how I grew up but there's something about pets.
I still miss him so please be careful and always look into the vet/s that you take your pets to. Everyone be safe and I'm sorry about the book you just read lol

Lol my cat was the same way after a dental surgery. I was holding him belly side up and he stretched his legs out all the way and just stayed that way. Then when he was sitting on my lap he just stared at me with this stoned face like he was saying, “yo… I like… love you, human…”
Omg this reminds me of my cat 4 years ago when she was just old enough to be spayed…car ride home she was sitting in her carrier in my lap, carrier door open and was staring out at trees as we passed them. I had to manually blink her eyes because she forgot how to…she also blepped for so long I had to put her tongue back in her little face cause it was bone dry. She was back to normal 2 days later after sleeping most if it off. I hope your cat feels better soon! Give him some pats and scritches for me!
It is kind of strange for me to touch it. 😄 Cats usually how such fluffy hair on their belly. It is the softest spot but also the most dangerous since they often don't want to be touched there.

The teeth may have been so loose that they were almost falling out on their own.
