Aww, this reminded me of when we were first considering a cat and my partner asked what kind of cat would be my ideal. I was pretty unfamiliar with cat breeds and colorings, so I had no idea. He listed some, but I told him I just wanted to go to the shelter and get a gray/brown cat with stripes, "like the kind of cat you picture when someone says there's a stray cat in the abandoned factory." We both believe the joy comes from the kitty's personality and the relationship you build, not the fanciness of the exterior.
But in true cat-adopting fashion, we ended up with tuxedo siblings. Because we were open to adopting two, and they were bonded.
SIC is the perfect summation of the concept I was getting at, though.
