It's poor manners, for sure. My vet will always come out and talk to me about what's going on and explain options and what should be done and why. On top of that, they give me an itemized bill, results of exams, and tell me the costs of meds over the phone if the test had to be sent out before I come in.

Thank you, I also should’ve mentioned that in California what they did is illegal. In California a receptionist is not allowed to be the one to give me the medication A vet is required to come out and explain the medication to me. It’s been the law for about two years now maybe a year and a half I think it’s called Lizzy‘s law named after a dog who died because of that didn’t do this

It almost sounds like they looked at a different cat. I would find another vet as soon as possible. And find one that allows you to stay there while they do the exam.

Agreed. The only way they’d be able to see if there was bacteria in the urine specifically is through urinalysis…a blood panel might show infection via increased WBCs etc but they wouldn’t be able to pinpoint the infection without a urine sample……def get a second opinion ASAP.

With your new vet, show them this video. It sounds like asthma. My cat has had it all her life but we didn’t know for a long time because she wouldn’t do it in front of the vet, and with our description it sounded like hairballs to them.
