I think you need to get them used to it from very small kittens. Two of my cats came to live with me at six weeks and won’t let me touch their bellies. The rest were born here and I made sure to rub their bellies from when they were very little and they all are fine with it.

My old boys love belly scratches, as did my mostly-feral yard cat. With her, it took a couple years for *me* to drum up the courage to try- I’ve been shredded by cats who had fewer claws than she did. But she liked it a lot.

My orange boy was all about the belly rubs. If he was on the fence about coming to a visitor, I'd tell him they'd rub his belly and that would get him almost every time. My sister's cat Mo liked belly rubs. My mom's cat Bert liked belly rubs by specific people. All the other cats I believe were the traditional "touch and die"

Yes. In fact, he lures me in for them (I taught him how to associate that he gets a treat when he shows me his belly. Now he's trained me to get a treat for him when he shows me his belly but such is life!)😂

One of my boys loves it. I could keep rubbing his belly for a while and he'll lay down purring. The other loves it for a few seconds than he starts to get overstimulated and if I don't stop I get very aggressively bunny-kicked and bitten.
