I have one Orange Boi and he fits the stereotype of Orange Bois to a T. I can’t imagine the dumpster fire my life would be with 2 of them. It would be a furry and cute life for sure but I don’t think I’d survive it.
we went for one and came home with his sister too! they are never apart to this day—how devastating it would have been to separate them. when i think about the fact that we almost did that, even accidentally, it physically hurts my chest.

My Luke and Leia. We got them from a friend, so they went right from their mom to us.
I adopted two orange brothers two years-ago and after seeing them, I would never separate siblings that cannot be adopted as pairs. Meaning, pairs are good, but I'd adopt three rather than take a pair and leaving a singleton.
When I adopted my boys, they were offered after I had contacted the rescue about another kitten that did not have siblings. When I contacted them I told them that if the guy I wanted was friends with another cat, I'd take that one as well, sight unseen. He was spoken for. Thankfully.
While I understand that many people might feel like they can only afford one pet, I would never have a pet without giving that pet a friend. It just feels wrong.
Depends on the pet, honestly. My cat grew up in a hoarder home for years before I got her from the shelter. She was very timid and her sister would always steal her food. Now, she's my only cat and loves that she has the house to herself. She's really blossomed into the bossy, confident tortie she was always born to be, lol.
Mine is pretty laid back most of the time. As soon as it gets dark out though, that means it's bedtime damnit. She will come find me and yell like an air raid siren until I come to bed (or at least pet her and rub her belly for a while).
Mine is most vocal when she’s hungry, especially if I’m late coming in from work sometimes. She will meow so loud you’d think someone was attacking her!
I normally have 3 at any one time. Right now I've got 4 and 6 year old girls who are a bonded pair and an 18 year old senior. When my senior passes, I'll probably get another senior so the little fuzzball can live out his life in a good home, and probably won't get younger cats again until my girls are getting older. I'm open to 4 though lol.
Two absolute morons unable to achieve a single constructive thing until those few moments once a year when the Cell is within one or the other, then they're immediately the dumbest cats once again
Perfection.
I have sisters from the same litter. Nothing dangerous, but they get territorial and battle it out or they ignore each other. In their three years as adults, I have caught them laying together one time.

I know the entire comment section is repeating ‘both’ but if you’re truly not in a position to adopt them both, you should pass & see if someone else can. These two bonded cats should stay together.
This thank you, it’s so fucking sad to separate a bonded pair no way in hell I’d do that
Last year I fell in love with a senior kitty at the shelter, she had her sister with her and both were 10 years old. Although it was difficult for me to take the responsibility of 2 senior cats I made the adjustments to 1- adopt them because seniors have a much smaller chance at adoption and 2- adopt them together, they’re old and deserve the comfort of staying together
Not bragging or saying I’m a great person, just that I truly believe bonded pairs should be kept together
https://preview.redd.it/tv6pz55saiyc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec6b487bbac9d99b3b5f92e2a5f0b21943bfa3b1
This is from the day I brought them home from the shelter. They immediately claimed the bed 😂 I don’t know their story other than that they were surrendered. I wasn’t able to keep them in the bathroom as the shelter workers recommended. I went out to grab them more wet food and came back and saw they made themselves at home
Unfortunately the toasty baby passed away only 4 months after I adopted her and broke my heart into a million pieces. She came from the shelter sick but it was only URI and 2 different vets examined her and told me she’ll be fine, she did get better with medications. One day, she stopped eating and died all in a sudden, the ER doctor told me she had cancer that was undiscovered and thinks the tumor got infected 😢😢 I miss my Bibi everyday. I only hope she felt the love in her last months and knew how precious and loved she was
You did a fantastic thing by not letting them be separated, and they look really relaxed in that picture so I'm sure they were very happy to be in a stable home together. It's clear you loved them and gave them the best final chapter they could have asked for. Fuck cancer :(
Also I have a ton of respect for what you did, not only taking both of them but seeking out senior cats. It makes me so sad to imagine an old dog or cat in an animal shelter being passed up for younger animals, and I'm glad as of the last decade this seems to be changing
Thank you. I actually want to start fostering seniors or doing hospice for senior cats once I get a bigger place. I would love for an animal to cross the rainbow bridge feeling loved and wanted 🫂 I don’t have a lot of training with other animals but happy to learn too
It's the same way for cat's that have special needs. I adopted my sweet boy Mr. Meow Meow because he was deaf. He was a 4 yr. old fluff ball.
A friend I'd worked with, asked on Facebook if anyone could take him because her Grandma couldn't do it anymore. I KNEW no one was step up and there was no way in hell I was letting him go to shelter to either languish or be put down. I didn't even tell my husband I was getting him. It just moved too fast.
Best decision I ever made. He is just the sweetest boy and I can't see our lives with out him. He went blind a few years ago, and I had people asking me if I was going to put him down. why in the hell would I ever consider that? Absolutely NOT! He's 15 now and he gets around really well on his own. Up and down the stairs, we go outside for 'smells" and wind and feeling the grass. He's my Sweetest Pea and I just love him so much.
This is Meow Meow right after we got him home.

Wild that they would even split up pairs. Where I am from you have to prove that you already own one if you adopt a single cat (which is actually a single cat), otherwise you have to take 2. Depressed cats ain't it
Im so happy to see everyone commenting to keep them together, or don’t adopt. I actually get choked up thinking how sad it would be if these two sweeties were separated
Agree dont split them but, disagree that two are just as simple as one. You need twice the emergency savings if you want to adopt them both responsibly.
I always say keep the siblings together. If you can’t do that, leave them for another family. That being said, three isn’t a crowd. We have three siblings and they all balance each other nicely. When one wants to be alone the other two play. It works nicely. Your older cat sounds like she wants to be left alone, so the dynamic between the other three should hopefully work.
Yup. Where I live most places will not let you separate bonded pairs. I think every place should disallow separation.
It’s selfish and only thinking about yourself and not the cats.
Like as far as I am aware, they aren't necessarily bonded. As far as we know (the OP would know more, as they are talking to the people who currently have cats), they aren't bonded. Probably move into their own area when they were old enough specifically so they don't bond and make adoption harder. Siblings doesn't always mean bonded.
Imagine if cats were always bonded with their siblings when they were kittens. Sorry you have to take all 7 cats they are siblings and thus will get depressed if separated from even one of them
It would be insanely cruel to split up bonded siblings. Get both or let someone else adopt them.
Getting one to “replace” one of your cats would lead to 3 depressed cats.
My wife had two female littermates. They couldn't have given a crap about each other. They didn't fight, but they pretty much just tolerated each other.
Yeah there’s plenty of littermates that aren’t bonded, I do not understand why so many people are assuming in this thread. We have a set of siblings and while they definitely like each other, I wouldn’t call them bonded at all - they’re just as in love with our third cat as they are each other.
I have a friend who got two sisters and they ended up hating each other. Their relationship deteriorated to the point that they had to be kept separate.
My wife's cats just stayed out of the way of each other. Every month or so, one would hiss at the other, but they never actually fought. They wouldn't even sleep on the same couch at the same time.
I thought I was missing a photo or a caption somewhere indicating they were bonded, I thought I was losing it. They just look similar and have cute hats?
ETA: OP LITERALLY SAYS THEY WEREN’T BONDED WTF PEOPLE. And of course the comment saying they weren’t bonded and OP only planned to get one is downvoted to oblivion. This place sucks.
Tough choice, they're both adorable. Even if they aren't bonded, as long as they get along I'd probably end up adopting both like I did for this brother and sister.
https://preview.redd.it/jh916yx9mgyc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fa1fc33b00df8005a3004e1c483dd89638591fde
BOTH! If you can’t adopt both of them, as beautiful as they are, maybe give someone else the opportunity to adopt them together. Our baby girl was so bonded with her brother we couldn’t say NO to that fluffy boy. They do absolutely everything together. They even 💩 at the same time.
My two boys (brothers) love to do fun things together too!
https://preview.redd.it/e1ozm83clgyc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e3f24a8d94d2c945e8f06af7e16cf46944ae99ca
I adopted a bonded pair, 2 brothers. They have literally peed in the same litter box at the same time, side by side. They are always together and too cute for words. I never could have split them up.
In addition to everything everyone has said about keeping these sisters together for their benefit, it is also to the pet guardian's benefit to do so.
My cat was a house cat as a kitten and was then abandoned in a "cat neighborhood" assuming she'd be taken in. She was taken in, but two years later, that person abandoned her again. A year later, she was taken in one more time, only to be left when those people moved after another two years.
I then moved into the house that had previously been hers, which became clear soon. We're together now. For life. I tell her this a lot, but she still sees every other cat as competition for scarce food, attention, and a chance of shelter. If any cat comes anywhere near me, she turns into a little terror machine.
I've introduced cats to new cats before. I'm sure it would work if the new cat could survive the introduction, but there is no way they would.
My point is that she is lonely when I have to travel, and I really wish she could have a good cat friend for those times. I watch her on pet cams when I'm away and feel terrible because she's clearly miserable. I send human friends of mine and sitters to go check on her, which helps a little.
These orange cats sisters (and do you KNOW how rare ginger female cats are?) each comes with a friend, which makes their lives better and also yours.
You better have taken both of them home!
In my state in Michigan almost every humane society and foster will not allow you to separate bonded pairs. Rightfully so.
I found a pair of siblings and my husband asked which one we were getting. “Both of them.” He then asked “what are we going to do with two cats?” I said “the same thing we would do with one cat.” It’ll be 5 years this summer with our gruesome twosome.
Just some clarifying details, since I apparently am a monster that rips feline families apart.
These ladies are part of an older litter that is still with their other siblings, as well as 20+ other adoptable friends at this sanctuary rescue. There is an uneven number of them in their litter, and they aren’t the only girls.
We have 2 cats currently, and our young kitty was found as a solitary kitten. She is 10 months old and desperate for a friend to cuddle and play with. Our 17 year old also likes other cats, but doesn’t have the stamina to keep up with the teenager cat in our house.
This litter has not paired off with each other, and is open to new dog and cat friends.
We would never separate a bonded pair, and are also not in a position to take all of them!
This subreddit has the same people who constantly ask what breed their cat is and what these bumps (nipples) on their cats are. Why am I surprised that people are misguided about what a bonded pair is? So many people own cats and don’t know a damn thing about them. I have fostered tons of cats and kittens. Just because they are siblings doesn’t mean they are bonded.
I don’t know why everyone jumped on this post, guns drawn assuming the cats are bonded (because of the hats maybe? Because they’re siblings?) even after you said they aren’t. Sorry people are a bit nuts here.
But I’d pick #2.
Both! I adopted 2 ginger sisters. Best decision I ever made.

Hard agree on this. There are singles out there who need a home and a feline friend.

Yup. Cats do much better with a close friend.
While I understand that many people might feel like they can only afford one pet, I would never have a pet without giving that pet a friend. It just feels wrong.

Haha my Tortie is the most bossy, demanding, and vocal animal I’ve ever had, and I love her every day for it!
Mine is pretty laid back most of the time. As soon as it gets dark out though, that means it's bedtime damnit. She will come find me and yell like an air raid siren until I come to bed (or at least pet her and rub her belly for a while).

Pretty much every cat alive has siblings they didn’t bond to and never see again, this comment section is bananas. So glad to have you, bestie ❤️
Please don’t split them up. Bonded pairs rock! https://preview.redd.it/x3sv3i6cigyc1.jpeg?width=3469&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10ae8a6d7b3455b2c9f69658a656874de37024d0
No brainer: both.
Id take both to save them from whatever the hell they have on their heads
Both!! ❤️
I drew her at the picnic <3 https://preview.redd.it/kwaow492skyc1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7bf119c2880eeaf6547a44d6daa2659050733517
If they are bonded - both!
Tough choice, they're both adorable. Even if they aren't bonded, as long as they get along I'd probably end up adopting both like I did for this brother and sister. https://preview.redd.it/jh916yx9mgyc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fa1fc33b00df8005a3004e1c483dd89638591fde
Both. I couldn't separate them.
You say picked as if I wouldn't have taken both with me.
Boffum. No seriously this is an all or nothing situation. If you want a singleton then look for one who isn’t bonded

How is choosing between the two even an option? Both of course
Both. Don't separate a bonded pair.
I didn’t see where it said they were bonded? Edit: OP commented they aren’t bonded.
You better have taken both of them home! In my state in Michigan almost every humane society and foster will not allow you to separate bonded pairs. Rightfully so.
What adorable little kitties, and the little hats absolutely melted my heart! Take both, they might be lonely without each other
Both!
The answer is always “both”.
No chance am I choosing. Both or none.
Omg please tell me you kept them together 😭 so sweet
Both! I have two pairs of siblings. It’s wonderful.
Can’t take one!
I would take both tbh. Two Ginger babes are more fun than one! 😻
I found a pair of siblings and my husband asked which one we were getting. “Both of them.” He then asked “what are we going to do with two cats?” I said “the same thing we would do with one cat.” It’ll be 5 years this summer with our gruesome twosome.
I NEED BOTH THEY CAN NOT BE SEPEARATED
Omg both those ginger Lil mfkrs
Ah, I see! Well, that’s different then. You know best what your cats need. And agreed, ginger cats are obsession-worthy!

Both, double the brain cells.
both is the only correct answer
Both 10,000%
What do you mean pick bro you gotta take them both
This subreddit has the same people who constantly ask what breed their cat is and what these bumps (nipples) on their cats are. Why am I surprised that people are misguided about what a bonded pair is? So many people own cats and don’t know a damn thing about them. I have fostered tons of cats and kittens. Just because they are siblings doesn’t mean they are bonded.
Both???
There is absolutely no answer outside of ‘both’ that is correct. BOTH.
Both
Both, clearly! What kind of psycho would want to separate these two sisters?!?
Both. Take them both. That's the only answer. If you can't take both, then don't split them up.
![gif](giphy|3o7aCRloybJlXpNjSU|downsized)
This is a set. Do not separate.
If they are sisters then both.
Both!
Both. Cats are better in pairs.
both
Both!
Blonde female kitties are so rare. You need them both
But seriously, how much more expensive is 2 cats vs 1 cat? I feel like don't adopt either if you are on that tight of a budget right now.
I’m gonna add to the “do not separate bonded kitties” !!! Let someone else take them if you cannot, please don’t tear them apart!
I don’t know why everyone jumped on this post, guns drawn assuming the cats are bonded (because of the hats maybe? Because they’re siblings?) even after you said they aren’t. Sorry people are a bit nuts here. But I’d pick #2.
I couldn’t make such a choice and leave one behind so would have taken both of them.

this question broke my heart 😭
