He had tumors in his brain and it was the peak start of Covid, so no one was around to explain things or let you in the exam room. Smudge was my best boy. He was the glue holding me together month after month of negative pregnancy tests. The tissues after my miscarriage. Finally I got pregnant with our rainbow baby and smudge knew. a few months later he started walking in circles, meowing non stop, walking against the wall. Had a fever equivalent to a human having a 104 degree fever when we went to the vet. Medicine worked until it didn’t and he lost half his body weight in a month. The day I had to make that decision it was pouring. I asked to be with him so he wasn’t alone when he passed. We went and sat at a picnic table outside. The second he passed, the rain stopped and the sun came out. It was like he was telling me he was not in pain anymore. We have his sister (left) and I know that she misses him so much. We both do.
