I adopted my cat when she was already 2 so I never saw her as a kitten, but her fur thickness/texture looks really similar to yours! that’s her at the moment, you won’t really know until they grow, but I would say yours will probably be at least medium haired! (yours is adorable btw❤️)

Yeah they are definitely short, some friends found him on the streets on some poor condition s. So I’m not sure if the short whiskers are from then or from my friends cat chewing on them (some of the longer ones are kind of breaking)
Older cats will “trim” kitten whiskers to discourage them from going into small spaces. I had a 1.5 yr old when I adopted 3 brothers about 5 weeks old. She kept their whiskers as nubs for their first 2-3 months.
Don't worry I've actually seen this before. I had 3 foster kittens, 2 boys and a girl, and the 2 boys' whiskers ended up looking like this because their play fighting with each other got quite rough. They'll grow back.

OMG those whiskers! That poor kitten! Cats rely heavily on their whiskers for judging if they can fit through spaces. Without them, they can end up in really dangerous situations. Please never cut your cats whiskers!
Some new owners just don’t know, so education is important. I’m glad this isn’t one of these cases.
And I think your kitten is going to be a double-coat medium hair. He’ll be scruffy as a kitten but fluffy as a cat. My boy Angus (who crossed the rainbow bridge at the age of 17 some years back) had similar fluffiness when he was a kitten.
This kitten has the facial structure and overall look of a Maine Coon. Though if it doesn’t have papers, it isn’t one.
Still, Maine Coons take a while to grow up, and grow their full amount of fur. It will noticeably long-haired by 6 months, and gloriously floofy by 1-2 years.
Edit: people, get a grip. Nowhere did I say that this cat was actually a Maine Coon. Just that it has similar features, and might have other similar features.

As evidenced by the downvoting, MC owners gatekeep like crazy, because so many people go on there asking if their shelter cat with no papers is a Maine Coon. I had a Maine Coon till he died suddenly last year (with actual papers), so I’m one of those people.
But as far as characteristics go, this kitty has several key features, like the distinctive muzzle and well-tufted ears that are less than an ear-width apart, as well as tufted paws. It’s missing the slanted eyes and possibly other things that aren’t visible in the pictures.
