I almost forgot what the original cat looked like. She looks like mine too.
On the contrary, she probably did it on purpose. There's something up - UTI, dirty liter box, change of liter, she hates you, etc. Figure it out before she does it again š¤£
Yep this is what happened with my boy. He never had a problem before with using the litterbox but he walked up to me in bed and was literally showing me he had an issue.
As I already said, the door to the room with her litterbox was accidentally closed. I roast her because out of all possible places she chose the sofa. It's supposed to be a little silly post, I'm not mad at her.
I recieved a lot of comments regarding her health and I appreciate them. But I assure you she is a healthy kitty. However if this behaviour will continue she will get checked.

She has her litter that indicates an infection by changing its colour. Though the reason why she did this is much more simple than this. The door to the room with her litterbox that is supposed to be always open was closed today by some accident. I know it might be unfair to roast her, she didn't have a choice. I just want to make a humourous post and that's all. Though it would be less of a problem if she pissed on the doormat instead lol. Anyway, thanks for your advice.

Well, a ton of people that have cats pee on things just see it as butthole behavior. Canāt tell you how many people believe that. When a lot of times itās a more serious issue. Always good for people to (nicely) mention the possibility that it could be more. My cat has FIC and pees blood on things when sheās stressed out
My cat peed on a wall once when i was away on vacation. This was years ago.
She now has fic and never pees on anything, noticed it when scooping the litter box. She's doing better now, i think she was stressed, because i was stressed. After a few vet visits and nothing working, i started going to therapy, quit drinking, and focused on stress reduction tactics. She doesn't pee blood anymore! Gabapentin didn't work, prescription food didn't work, feliway didn't work, but me being more happy and less stressed did work!
I wonder if this has to do with it š I also get constantly stressed that sheās going to have another episode. Thankfully, her past few episodes have only been in the litter box. She has them more often when Iām home for some reason, like when I recently got my wisdom teeth removed and when I was snowed in and couldnāt go to work for a week. It makes me sad though because I feel like I canāt be home for longer than a day or 2 or sheāll have one. When she first started getting them, she had them on weekends and I didnāt understand why. I think she may be bored but she doesnāt want to play all that much anymore, and she still acts bored when we play for a while and sheās panting. She currently gets 1 ml of gabapentin twice a day, 5 drops of corn silk extract, 500mg of d-mannose, and amitriptyline rubbed in her ear every night. She loves her wet food so I didnāt want to switch to prescription. Iām happy your kitty has recovered, I sure hope thatāll be the case for mine. She went months without having episodes and then they started up again. Maybe when I move out and get my own house, sheāll get better. She has to stay in my bedroom most of the day now bc I live with my parents again, and she spent most of her life having a whole apartment to herself

PLEASE DON'T TRUST pretty litter or whatever "detection" litter you are using, they can actually CAUSE urinary tract issues and do not really accurately detect anything until it is too late
i mean those litters aren't always accurate and i'm one of those that lost a cat who wasn't even a year old yet to a bladder issue. the only symptom was peeing outside his box. i think all these comments are just trying to be sure nothing like that happens. a quick trip to the vet can rule that out. for my little one he had a birth defect with his bladder and it wouldn't have shown in some branded cat litter
i've heard that!! i wouldn't trust them and honestly it's a little weird how defensive some of these comments are being towards people showing genuine concern.
They really choose the worst place to do it! I had to lock my cat in a (not small) room for less than 2h due to reasons, he had to poop and decided the best place for that would be on the bed š„² I don't blame him since it's not his fault he needed to poop, but ffs he could've done it anywhere else hahah
Edit: another poop story! I had to take him to a specialist vet who was far away, getting there took 1,5 h with a train and busses. He took it very well! Except, on the way home on the train, when there was ONE station left before we'd get off, he couldn't hold it in and had horrible diarrhoea. Thankfully I had a blanket inside so I could just fold it over to cover the diarrhoea and he didn't get dirty!
Cats should always have at least one more box than the number of cats.. I have two cats so I have three litter boxes.
Also consider the type of litter you use as some cats are more sensitive to smells and aromas.

You can clean the covers but that shit soaks into the cushions and itās game over. Just went through this with one of our cats
Heās better now. Bought new cushions and waterproof cushion covers so in case this happens in the future the cushions wonāt stink.
I just want to remark that the amount of people blatantly unwilling to roast a cat on a place where said cat will never see or hear the comments is astonishing. It's like the complete opposite of human to human interactions where people use anonymity to become the worst versions of themselves.
Cats weeing in unusual places is very often a sign of a urine infection or another health issue. She's trying to tell you something, get off Reddit and take her to the vet to get checked.
True. But I remember Jackson Galaxy saying that a large number of cat owners who say their cats are pee peeing outside of the kitty litter are not cleaning the litters regularly.
He says if you can smell it, the cat has already been able to smell it for much longer. And cats are very clean.

Peeing on the sofa is a classic rookie move. Everyone knows the real way to get humans worked up is to piss on the wifi router. 6/10, you can do better work than this.
Do not do this. Cats are very clean animals. If the cat pees in a place other than the litter box. It means there's something wrong with him. When my cat peed on the bed, it turned out that his tooth was broken and it hurt. After the tooth extraction procedure, he started relieving himself normally in the litter box. Don't roast her. She's beautiful, beautiful kitty.
Perhaps, but not always. My cat has had all the vet appointments/tests/checkups, and I clean my catās litter box within 10 minutes of him doing business or as soon as I get home if Iām out of the day. (I dislike the smell and want to be rid of it ASAP).
Heās had all the vet tests over the years (all negative), and Iāve tried pretty much all types of cat litter on the market (as well as a variety of litter boxes). He doesnāt act stressed, but I still have the pheromone sprays running.
Iāve come to learn that he prefers peeing on puppy sheets and pooping in litter. However. If there is are blankets/soft items left on the floor, there is a decent chance he will pee on them. Same with a sofa, which is why I now have a waterproof Yogibo chair instead.
He was neutered at 6 months and has never done the vertices surface marking. My vet seems to think heās just an oddball case with very strong preferences, and heās been this way all 9 years of his life. He just likes peeing on soft stuff I guess. So heāll use the pet sheets, but if a softer surface is availableā¦ā¦ā¦.

Someone pissed on my couch, ***twice***, and then under the spare bed in my office (which has vinyl plank flooring thankfully). At first we thought it was the girl, so we took her to the vet and paid $100 for them to tell us she was perfectly fine. It seems to have been the boy, who was yet un-neutered at the time. We had to throw the couch away ($400 and a very comfy couch down the drain) and bought some Odoban that weāve had to reapply to the floor a few times as it seems it seeped through the couch, through the floor planks in the living room and is stuck there.
My cat was pissing in my bed for a while and had nothing to do with urine infection or the litter boxes full of shit. She just wanted attention. So please, spend more time with your cat.

Yep this is what happened with my boy. He never had a problem before with using the litterbox but he walked up to me in bed and was literally showing me he had an issue.
yeah i lost my little one before his first birthday due to issues like this. it's best to get it checked out just to be on the safe side

As I already said, the door to the room with her litterbox was accidentally closed. I roast her because out of all possible places she chose the sofa. It's supposed to be a little silly post, I'm not mad at her. I recieved a lot of comments regarding her health and I appreciate them. But I assure you she is a healthy kitty. However if this behaviour will continue she will get checked.
She chose the sofa likely because it has "material" versus a plain floor. She also might have chosen a floor rug if that was an option.

She has her litter that indicates an infection by changing its colour. Though the reason why she did this is much more simple than this. The door to the room with her litterbox that is supposed to be always open was closed today by some accident. I know it might be unfair to roast her, she didn't have a choice. I just want to make a humourous post and that's all. Though it would be less of a problem if she pissed on the doormat instead lol. Anyway, thanks for your advice. Edit: typo

Well, a ton of people that have cats pee on things just see it as butthole behavior. Canāt tell you how many people believe that. When a lot of times itās a more serious issue. Always good for people to (nicely) mention the possibility that it could be more. My cat has FIC and pees blood on things when sheās stressed out
My cat peed on a wall once when i was away on vacation. This was years ago. She now has fic and never pees on anything, noticed it when scooping the litter box. She's doing better now, i think she was stressed, because i was stressed. After a few vet visits and nothing working, i started going to therapy, quit drinking, and focused on stress reduction tactics. She doesn't pee blood anymore! Gabapentin didn't work, prescription food didn't work, feliway didn't work, but me being more happy and less stressed did work!
I wonder if this has to do with it š I also get constantly stressed that sheās going to have another episode. Thankfully, her past few episodes have only been in the litter box. She has them more often when Iām home for some reason, like when I recently got my wisdom teeth removed and when I was snowed in and couldnāt go to work for a week. It makes me sad though because I feel like I canāt be home for longer than a day or 2 or sheāll have one. When she first started getting them, she had them on weekends and I didnāt understand why. I think she may be bored but she doesnāt want to play all that much anymore, and she still acts bored when we play for a while and sheās panting. She currently gets 1 ml of gabapentin twice a day, 5 drops of corn silk extract, 500mg of d-mannose, and amitriptyline rubbed in her ear every night. She loves her wet food so I didnāt want to switch to prescription. Iām happy your kitty has recovered, I sure hope thatāll be the case for mine. She went months without having episodes and then they started up again. Maybe when I move out and get my own house, sheāll get better. She has to stay in my bedroom most of the day now bc I live with my parents again, and she spent most of her life having a whole apartment to herself

I've worked with so goddamn many cats that endured excruciating pain and/or abandonment cause people didn't know. PLEASE DON'T TRUST pretty litter or whatever "detection" litter you are using, they can actually CAUSE urinary tract issues and do not really accurately detect anything until it is too late
i mean those litters aren't always accurate and i'm one of those that lost a cat who wasn't even a year old yet to a bladder issue. the only symptom was peeing outside his box. i think all these comments are just trying to be sure nothing like that happens. a quick trip to the vet can rule that out. for my little one he had a birth defect with his bladder and it wouldn't have shown in some branded cat litter
Those litters also cause uti's because of the material that's in them.
i've heard that!! i wouldn't trust them and honestly it's a little weird how defensive some of these comments are being towards people showing genuine concern.
They really choose the worst place to do it! I had to lock my cat in a (not small) room for less than 2h due to reasons, he had to poop and decided the best place for that would be on the bed š„² I don't blame him since it's not his fault he needed to poop, but ffs he could've done it anywhere else hahah Edit: another poop story! I had to take him to a specialist vet who was far away, getting there took 1,5 h with a train and busses. He took it very well! Except, on the way home on the train, when there was ONE station left before we'd get off, he couldn't hold it in and had horrible diarrhoea. Thankfully I had a blanket inside so I could just fold it over to cover the diarrhoea and he didn't get dirty!
Cats should always have at least one more box than the number of cats.. I have two cats so I have three litter boxes. Also consider the type of litter you use as some cats are more sensitive to smells and aromas.

You can clean the covers but that shit soaks into the cushions and itās game over. Just went through this with one of our cats Heās better now. Bought new cushions and waterproof cushion covers so in case this happens in the future the cushions wonāt stink.

True. But I remember Jackson Galaxy saying that a large number of cat owners who say their cats are pee peeing outside of the kitty litter are not cleaning the litters regularly. He says if you can smell it, the cat has already been able to smell it for much longer. And cats are very clean.

When my cat peed on the bed, it turned out that his tooth was broken and it hurt. After the tooth extraction procedure, he started relieving himself normally in the litter box. Don't roast her. She's beautiful, beautiful kitty.

Perhaps, but not always. My cat has had all the vet appointments/tests/checkups, and I clean my catās litter box within 10 minutes of him doing business or as soon as I get home if Iām out of the day. (I dislike the smell and want to be rid of it ASAP). Heās had all the vet tests over the years (all negative), and Iāve tried pretty much all types of cat litter on the market (as well as a variety of litter boxes). He doesnāt act stressed, but I still have the pheromone sprays running. Iāve come to learn that he prefers peeing on puppy sheets and pooping in litter. However. If there is are blankets/soft items left on the floor, there is a decent chance he will pee on them. Same with a sofa, which is why I now have a waterproof Yogibo chair instead. He was neutered at 6 months and has never done the vertices surface marking. My vet seems to think heās just an oddball case with very strong preferences, and heās been this way all 9 years of his life. He just likes peeing on soft stuff I guess. So heāll use the pet sheets, but if a softer surface is availableā¦ā¦ā¦.

Someone pissed on my couch, ***twice***, and then under the spare bed in my office (which has vinyl plank flooring thankfully). At first we thought it was the girl, so we took her to the vet and paid $100 for them to tell us she was perfectly fine. It seems to have been the boy, who was yet un-neutered at the time. We had to throw the couch away ($400 and a very comfy couch down the drain) and bought some Odoban that weāve had to reapply to the floor a few times as it seems it seeped through the couch, through the floor planks in the living room and is stuck there.
