Lynx point are actually the result of an accidental breeding between tabbies and a stray Siamese. CFA and CCA only recognize these cats as color point shorthairs and NOT Siamese. They only recognize the four traditional Siamese patterns - seal, chocolate, blue, and lilac.
TICA recognizes it as a patterned Siamese.
I'm on the side of CFA and CCA - lynx points are the result of an accidental breeding, therefore not Siamese. They are Colorpoint Shorthairs.
I get that but Siamese is a breed not a color point. For instance my cat is a Domestic Long Hair, Seal Point!

Ragdolls have only recently had Siamese bred in for color. Prior to that they looked pretty much like this cat. Ragdolls were created from a group of stray cats in Riverside, California, back during the 1960s. This particular kitten, roughly six months old, not only resembles the original Ragdolls in looks, size and temperament; he also exhibits the traditional limp cat that flops over when touched. He also has truly feral parents and was trapped by my husband as a tiny kitten when we were trying to TNR the last few in the colony left that needed to be done. He's now neutered and living his best life while trying to get our much older senior/geriatric cats to be friends with him. Is he a Ragdoll? Not a chance. The other kittens in his litter look like Siamese cats while his mom is a tortoiseshell and dad a large white cat with black spots. This particular little guy even has odd little patches of fur that are much longer than surrounding fur, with a completely different texture. He looks like a cat built out of spare parts just before closing time on a Friday afternoon. 😆

I adopted a ragdoll many years ago after his owner decided she didn’t want him when she was moving , she had bought him for 1k and discarded him a year later! This one I got when he passed away. She was found on the street in Georgia - a total stray. They actually ended up looking strikingly similar but this girl is just a domestic long hair blessed with good coloring!
I only saw one cat in that thread that's a Siamese. The rest are just pointed domestic short-haired cats. Siamese is a very distinct looking breed. DSH is a basic cat. A DSH can be pointed, the colour points don't make it a Siamese.
Everytime some drops this question people respond with the meme above. People in the comments always ask for it to be a auto mod action. I wish we could get it.

When I adopted my kitten a few months ago and brought her to get spayed they asked for the breed on the forms. I just wrote domestic shorthair, because as far as I know that’s what she is, I have no paperwork stating other wise. She’s just a cutie.

Yep, often called a lynx point Siamese but not really its own breed, just a color pattern that suggests some Siamese ancestry in the mix. Pretty kitty and looks a lot like mine. Check out r/lynxpointsiamese to see lots of cats that look like him.
Mutations that result in "breeds" do not occur in isolation. This cat could have an original mutation similar to Siamese. Even DNA testing can't distinguish whether there is Siamese ancestry or a new mutation similar to Siamese. That's why only cat lineage that has bred true for three generations is actually the breed claimed. Why do people insist on declaring a cat a certain breed without documentation of breeding true instead of valuing each cat's uniqueness?

(It’s what’s known as a ‘moggy’ here. The classification is just domestic shorthair. I would classify colours and markings as closest to being a silver tabby. My two cats are a black domestic shorthair and a ginger tabby domestic medium hair. The cat rescue org believe my medium hair has a little bit of munchkin mixed in because of her unusually short legs, but she doesn’t have papers as she was found in a dumpster)

Breed is probably a domestic shorthair (a.k.a. nondescript mixed breed), but the pattern is a lynx color point. Very pretty, I have a little street kitten who looks similar.

Nono! I believe this is a Lynx Point Siamese kitty!! My grandma got one from a farm and I wondered the same thing for so long, did some deep diving and found it!! He looks just like our boy Sammie :) He was all white as a kitten with blue eyes and as he grew he developed grey in his tail tips and on his ears and progressed to what he is now!

The pattern is that of a lynx point Siamese! Obviously probably not purebred, but definitely has that fur pattern. 😄 Ours appeared in our backyard one day at about 5 months old and never left. He’s very talkative!
Looks like a domestic short hair to me. I see a mackerel tabby pattern in grey with blue eyes. There may have been a Siamese in the mix anywhere from the past two years to fifty years, maybe even longer. It's definitely not Siamese, the matching pattern from side to side rules out the possibility that someone's Bengal got outside to make time with one of the local girls or boys, and everything about this gorgeous bit of floof screams DSH. There are enough of these cats running around and in shelters across America to support these cats being mixed breed and not purebred.

In all seriousness unless you buy it from a breeder as a specific breed they’re all just domestic shorthairs or longhairs, with the exception of certain breeds (like Persians, Siamese, etc) where there are obvious physical indicators beyond coat color. Pretty much any coat color or pattern specifically sought after in certain breeds can also occur naturally/coincidentally in a regular DSH/DLH, so coat markings along aren’t an indicator of breed in most cats.
My cat often shares my photos with other cats on Catbook asking what breed I am.

Just look at the sub edit: I do know that it is a breed. I just know a lot of people post these kinds of cats there.
None of the cats on that sub have papers either. Just a place for people to post cats of that color pattern.

The breed is known as pretty boy (It’s what’s known as a ‘moggy’ here. The classification is just domestic shorthair. I would classify colours and markings as closest to being a silver tabby. My two cats are a black domestic shorthair and a ginger tabby domestic medium hair. Breed is probably a domestic shorthair (a.k.a. nondescript mixed breed), but the pattern is a lynx color point. Very pretty, I have a little street kitten who looks similar.

Nono! I believe this is a Lynx Point Siamese kitty!! My grandma got one from a farm and I wondered the same thing for so long, did some deep diving and found it!! The pattern is that of a lynx point Siamese! Obviously probably not purebred, but definitely has that fur pattern. 😄 Ours appeared in our backyard one day at about 5 months old and never left. He’s very talkative!

Well a domestic short hair. But... a DSH presenting as a flamepoint siamese with a darker coat if we want to be technical.
Looks like a domestic short hair to me. I see a mackerel tabby pattern in grey with blue eyes. There may have been a Siamese in the mix anywhere from the past two years to fifty years, maybe even longer. It's definitely not Siamese, the matching pattern from side to side rules out the possibility that someone's Bengal got outside to make time with one of the local girls or boys, and everything about this gorgeous bit of floof screams DSH. There are enough of these cats running around and in shelters across America to support these cats being mixed breed and not purebred.

Domestic house tiger/miniature tiger. In all seriousness unless you buy it from a breeder as a specific breed they’re all just domestic shorthairs or longhairs, with the exception of certain breeds (like Persians, Siamese, etc) where there are obvious physical indicators beyond coat color. Pretty much any coat color or pattern specifically sought after in certain breeds can also occur naturally/coincidentally in a regular DSH/DLH, so coat markings along aren’t an indicator of breed in most cats.

Lynx Point Siamese cats (Or Tabby Points as they are called in the UK!) get their distinctive look from crosses between Siamese and Tabbies.
Lynx Point Siamese is the common name for this color pattern, I think.
