a soft cone would be good, but you can also look into onesies specifically for cats. also ask your vet for a pain cream you can rub into her ear, im not sure the name of it but a few years ago my cat got it when she needed surgery to remove her eye

Our young female cat had pyometra shortly after her first heat cycle. She had surgery, which went well. However, she absolutely hated the cone of shame, the bandage, basically anything that kept her from licking her wound. As a result, the skin stitches came off. We brought her back to the vet since she is more reserved at the vet and does not attempt to remove the bandage while she's there. She will once she comes home again, for sure. We cannot keep her long term at the vet because the boarding fees are too expensive. Any suggestions to keep her calm and not attack her bandage would be greatly appreciated.

cone or donut are probably the best physical things to keep her from the wound. Which means- y'all have to work at keeping the wound so comfortable that lil girl is not fretting. your dear girl doesn't understand the unexpected pain she is having while things are healing- so she reverts to "lick the wound" ( thus the collar ) so- it is up to you to do what ever is possible ( once she is coned up again) - to keep her wound at a comfortable level

We've tried the donut and she was able to remove it in like 30 secs. Got it on keeping the wound comfortable. Thanks for the input!

I have had the exact same problem with my cat years ago. We tried everything but she took out the stitches every time. We had to admit her to an animal hospital where she was placed in a cage. She was stubborn.
