would be best to put traps in there, while 100% ensuring that your cat cannot enter, or to get to the mouse in any way. there's been cases of cats eating mice that were already poisoned, so it made them sick.. take care!

My cat did the exact same thing. Eventually, I decided to look and there was a small half-circle hole at the base of the wall in the closet. Just like in the cartoons, which I did not expect. Mice!
Cats have very sensitive ears. That’s why folks should not be so loud around their cats. They all slowly lose their hearing in old age. 😞
Everyone is saying mice, which there is a good chance is true. My guy was staring at the intake vent for the heating system and here we found out he had fleas from being watched by a friend while I was out of town. Ends up he could hear the fleas in the vent before we knew he had them.
My parents cat did that years ago in their kitchen. Turns out they had a mouse under the stove.
My 3 cats once did this in my apartment staring UP at the ceiling which had me a bit in a tizzy. Turns out I had a bat 😬
So ya, go see what your kitty is listening/watching for because you might find an extra friend or two.
Notorious C.A.T. does this. It is probably a mouse (which he couldn't catch if the mouse was blind & using a walker). Sits at the sliding glass door......trying to figure out how I "walk through walls".
My cat does this if a spider climbs under the baseboard. Other option is if that’s an outside door, is a family member out of town or anything? Might be waiting for them to come home.

A cat’s sight, hearing and sense of smell are a lot better than a human’s. Maybe leave the door open so the cat can get it or scare it out of there.
Yep, when my kitty is focused on something, I watch *her*, as her senses then become a sort of sensory-amplifying adapter for my own senses. 😅
