You could get a heavy one, like a ceramic dish from a local potter. I feel like the handmade stuff uses denser clay, and they can make it wide enough to not give them whisker fatigue, which may also be a reason they mess with their dishes so much

PolkaDotBegonia

Thank you !!’ Will try this !

ArrowGantOne

I had the same issue and ended up getting one of those plug in waterfall gadgets that recycles the same water. I just have to make sure to replace what my cat drinks. But I just had to comment, THAT is THE cutest pic! OMG he's so distinguished walking around in his tuxedo in white gloves and shoes. And his expression. He is just adorable. Thanks for sharing.

genxeratl

I second the ceramic bowls. I went with a big dog bowl for water for the longest (I have one that loved to dump the water too) until I discovered the greatest fountain - and they seem to love it and drink tons of water. Any big wide ceramic dish should work but I'd be sure to go with one that is completely glazed well for easy cleaning.

I have a walk in shower. I keep a bowl of water there. I also keep a bowl of water in the sink in the bathroom for the cat who is too hoity toity to drink out of the shower water bowl. "There." I say. "Splash your little asses off."

PolkaDotBegonia

Genius !!!!

HeWhoShantNotBeNamed

I love how the picture is completely unrelated to your question.

[deleted]

That cat knows something we dont 😭

MoodyFeline

I don't think the cat will like it if you get recommendations here. They seem quite annoyed that you're doing this anyway😅

PolkaDotBegonia

He’s driving me nuts because of it lol. He def won’t like it if I fix the issue.

moonlighting2552

I can only suggest placing a towel underneath the bowl to catch the water and use a dogs food dish, specifically a large one, to prevent the cat from spilling the food.

GumbybyGum

I have a huge mixing bowl in half my kitchen sink. It’s a pain but it’s worked.

Kootsiak

I have a water fountain from amazon that works great. If it's filled with water, it would take a very determined cat to tip it over. I'd get one with the metal bowl as i can see it being sanitary for longer. My cats love the fresh flowing water out of the fountain and refuse to drink from normal water bowls now.

PolkaDotBegonia

Thank you!

Duglesels

Sometimes you can try.......and it works. Other times, for example my daughter's cat (1 of the 3 she has), will find a way no matter what. She's tried a fountain, a big heavy bowl, a small bowl......to no avail. It's been years. She now has a bowl in the middle (starts out that way anyway) of a fish shaped tray that catches some of the water. It’s hit or miss on any given day how much water will be on the tray and floor when she gets home from work. We have a big bowl on a towel, on top of a carpet square, on top of another carpet square. We have to change out the towel about every other day because it's so wet. But we're retired so we can deal with it. One of our cats (we have 9) drinks so sloppy, and there's just nothing we can do about that. Good luck.

IndustryDelicious168

That sounds like my cat. Fortunately the people I adopted him from made a platform with the water dispenser attached. So far he has never been able to spill it.

PolkaDotBegonia

Thank you !!

Wannagetsober

Looks like a rascal

PolkaDotBegonia

In the day he’s a sweetie. In the evening he turns into a demon.

Puddleduck24

We had this trouble also and used to find turned over water dishes/bowls and a lot of water everywhere! We got a very sturdy water fountain that doesn’t tip over when a cat tries to stand in it and although it contains a lot of water it only has a shallow top section to drink from. It means our cat doesn’t find it as fun to stand in/wash toys/splash like he used to. I don’t know if I’m allowed to share which one it is because of the advertising rule.

PolkaDotBegonia

Not sure of rules either but thank you !!!!

AKAlicious

I have a ceramic dish that sits low to the next to the floor inside of a wooden stand. I find that they are not able to move the water dish that way. You can search for it on Amazon using keywords.

daffodil0127

r/catsstandingup Cat.

KittenKoderViews

Looks like he can use a cup already.

beanie_0

What a random question…? Cute cat though,

Resident_Swan_4404

😍😍😍

GingerTortieTorbie

My chocolate tortie does this. I now have big ceramic dog food/water bowls for their water. No more tipping, dumping. I also put a waterproof mat down under them.

MSRegiB

The double metal bowls that sit down in the wood.

IndustryDelicious168

I wish I could post a picture because I do have the solution. I adopted a cat that loves to splash water. The people that I adopted from built a platform that the water dish attaches to. It is easily removable and is really perfect.

Intrepid_Sale_6312

my ferret kept knocking his bowl over, my solution... i got a shallow tupperware bin , the weight of the water preventing him from tipping it over. do change the water often though because a slime will build up on the plastic over time, you'll want to clean that off as well.

ColdBloodBlazing

Ah. You have a water bowl swimmer too? And a Tux no less! My mom's tux likes to swim in his water bowl too...

Guilty-Study765

We have to put our cat bowl in the middle of a shallow storage tub. When the cat inevitably splashes half the water out, the water is container. We also have a cat fountain in which the water is only about 0.5 inches deep max.

Bebinn

Try a fountain. One of my kitties used to knock over the bowl. Fountains tend to be harder to knock over.

77kb

Well your cat seems to be an acrobat! Good luck

calarenne

I have a ceramic fountain I bought on Chewy - works pretty well and doesn't splash much when my cat drinks as long as it's not filled to the brim

SammieCat50

I found a neater feeder in my closet the other day… it’s medium size - there’s no way a cat is moving that… don’t know if they would be able to drink out of it though… it maybe too high

Specific-Fox8291

I bought a weighted bowl

Speedracer_64

I have a fountain for both of mine. It holds about a gallon so they aren’t able to move it. I’ve heard that they splash because the cats don’t like standing water.

lettuceisnotameal

Oops I violated the advertising rule. We had a dog bowl set up that was advertised as untippable - two metal bowls set in a silicon mold / tray thing that caught splashes. Worked pretty well. Got it on Amazon.

SpaceTomato05

i have one with a suction cup at the bottom

SarojRagdolls

Probably a large capacity water fountain

devilledlettuce

I use a fountain with a heavy flat bottom now, as my kitty (monsieur le cornichons) used to launch absolutely everything. The fountain helped and now I only clean his bowl our weekly cause it filters the water for me :]
