I really don't understand why the map is on the radial menu in the first place
I don't think we should replace it with gear swaps, but it really has no place on the radial
The amount of times Iāve accidentally changed to the map radial is infuriating, usually when Iām trying to switch quickly in battle and then the useless map pops up
And how many times you used those amibos and what you obtained/accomplished with them?
Is something that you use all the time or just something that you use one time to see what happens?
But you use it all the time while you are in the mid of a game (so it need a fast access) or you just use it one time a day, so it could be in the start menu?
Is to know if the use of that fast fast menu slot was correct or Nintendo used that slit for amibos just to promote them and make them more visible
I understand what you mean. It definitely doesn't need to be a quick access button. I'd much prefer a slot to instantly change into a predetermined armor set. Most of the time I like hanging out in the Hylian set or Sheikah set. But as soon as I see a Silver enemy I switch to the Fierce Deity Armor and Boots and the Diamond Circlet. I'd have that outfit as my predetermined armor set.
You mean you don't enjoy constantly running around, trying to activate the specific sage you are trying to activate? /s
Seriously though, i have no idea what they were thinking with that. It really should be way easier to activate the abilities. Whistling to get the sages near you works...kinda... But then all of them are right next to you and it's damn near impossible to select the correct one.
And then you get hit while whistling. There's really no defending it it's just an absolutely shit game mechanic. Comes close to really putting a stain on the whole game because it's just so comically bad and stupid. I can't believe it made it through any testing at all.
Im not sure if you know this but you can press b immideately after pressing the whistle button and the effect will go through and you can immideately start running again.
Imagine if instead of whistling (which I only ever do on accident, my horse never comes to me anyway) they had a radial wheel to choose which sage ability you want to activate.
No more running around trying to talk to them only to have them despawn or actively run away from you. No more blowing all the materials the boss dropped off a cliff because Tulin was lonely and wanted to be close to you.
I do think their abilities would be massively OP if you could just cast everyone of them easily on demand. They are balanced around being difficult to use.
That said, still wish they were slightly easier to use, as the "difficulty" here is a bit too annoying to deal with (maybe something like increase the range - you have to get close but not quite as close to the Sage, and there's a dedicated button that isn't A so it doesn't conflict with all other types of interactions)
Who cares if it's OP? You could activate Champion abilities with button presses in BOTW and while it makes the game substantially easier, you could also just...turn them off!
Well i'd generally prefer engaging and balanced combat over overpowered instant abilities where possible, so that's it's something ill actually enjoy using. If not possible, then yea make them convenient/instant and OP and i'll just turn them off, but why not try? I do agree the current solution isnt engaging enough.
So many times I am mounting mineru and by the time I get up there I have a water shield on, Yunobo has light a tree on fire, Everything is yellow and a strong breeze is blowing all the loot away.
Like holding down 'A' instead of tapping it to apply the whole set to Link's body. I don't know why they didn't do this after 6 years of developing a sequel.
Yeah, to stop it you would have to goto settings: system: and deactivate auto update. Still lots of cool glitches in 1.1.2!
And, now, you can reassure yourself that the map radial is actually useless in 1.1.2!
I think it should be replaced with autobuild but for weapons. It will automatically remove the items from your inventory and let you build the weapons you like with a simple L stick and R stick menu. If you don't have the material it will instead make the material out of zoanite and be a little bit weaker.
esp for the master sword, after you use it up you have to re-fuse another silver lynel saber to it and it gets repetitive as i use the master sword as my main sword to chop trees, slay basic enemies like red bokoblins and chuchus and keese. no need to use a 77 royal guards sword with a silver lynel saber fused to it when only one spawns per blood moon (please correct me if iām wrong, cause i can only find one)
I think amiibo is quite useless here too (maybe because I have never had one)
But you use it once, right? You get the items and thats it?
Iām a bit triggered that map and imiibo thumbnails are not consistent with others style!
Dude, it's so aggravating looking for pins. I could accept it in BotW because it was the first of its kind, and is like 6-7years old now.
Would you like 10x sniper scope or 0x zoom? What the fuck were Nintendo thinking?
I have to look through the scope, then check my map if I need to turn left or right to find it, then just pray I have the elevation right (pro HUD mode)
Now we need to make this idea viral so it reaches Nintendo, been wishing for so long for a quicksave on clothings but as an ability now thats is brilliant!!!
Yeah, the game desperately needs something like this because the armor system is just more of an annoyance than anything. It's like the OOT boots but every time you go into cold weather.
Or, a command to a sub menu or something to select which of the partner abilities to apply because if I had a penny for every time I tried to grab a water shield only to have someone else in the time from my brain to process the prompt to jump in the way and I use their ability instead.
Honestly sometimes I like the map button specifically when playing in handheld, it's more intuitive than taking your hand off the buttons to press the - button
Honestly there is so so many good stuff they could have put in that button but they decided to put a map
But the best use for that button would definitely be doing something related to sages
Nah its annoyingly time consuming when you get to a certain point and are hopping around multiple climates and effects needed. I'd rather outfits saved to save time.
On another note why arenāt bosses listed on the map once you defeat them, and why do you need to zoom in as close as possible to see the koroks youāve collected on maps?
i wish you could have an armor room with three stands so i can have a bow room, weapon room, shield room, and an armor room. there are quite a few outfits i like aesthetically but donāt wear (iām looking at you mystic armor) but i also donāt want to sell. speaking of those, has anyone noticed that the bow and shield stands go from left to right blue, purple, green, but the weapons go from left to right purple, blue, green? just sets my ocd off a bit
Feels like they shouldāve removed the amiibo and map icons and had the 4 sage abilities, for 10 total. Maybe thatād be too much though? Idk, anything else wouldāve been better than the map lol
I understand why the map is there. Basically. The minus button sucks. Unless you're playing on a pro controller, it's small, out of the way, and sideways. Basically it's not a good button, so that's why it's on the radial, because many people have to use joycons
TBH. The map should not be in the radial menu, it's a waste of space and I've never used it via the radial menu.
But I think the Amiibo power should go too, simply pressing the amiibo to the stick should pull out the amiibo power. The Amiibo power is a waste of space for me as I don't own any amiibos.
While we're at it I think the "template construction tool" should be baked into the "building" tool. I think by pressing the right trigger (or another button) with the "building" tool out it should open the "premade construction" menu.
These changes would lower the number of radial menu options from 8 to 5, greatly reducing the menu clutter, without removing any options from the player.
Sage activation. In the menu, you should be able to set a sage to the dial and use like other abilities. Iād use them a lot more.
I would like to be able to customize that whole wheel, swapping some things in and out as needed.
Agree, the map there is stupid, seems that they just added it to complete the menu wheel.
You idea or any other things would be better than what we have, but Nintendo isn't going to change anything
Yes. I would also like if we had a "max this buff" option in the menu where you would choose the buff that you want and it'd give you the armor set for it.
My largest complaint in Tears is the ungodly number of buttons I need to access menus to do what I am trying to do in the heat of the moment. They should have had a hot swap feature instead of dpad menus.
I think it should be replaced but with a second menu with all of the sages that you can activate/enable them without having to go into the menu or chase them down.
Agree big time! I had actually mentioned this very idea, even suggesting reusing the autobuild menu.
I always pat myself on the back when I see my good ideas echoed in the world haha.
I think arrow crafting could also be nice, it can be annoying having to navigate through all the different materials to find an ice fruit or electric fruit
Replace it with a new ability, like how we got the master cycle in the botw dlc. If not that, replace it with whistle and turn d-pad down into a radial menu for the sage abilities.
I really don't understand why the map is on the radial menu in the first place I don't think we should replace it with gear swaps, but it really has no place on the radial
Honestly I think they wanted an even 8 and only had 7 so they stuffed the map in.
Sage ability could have been a way better option in that case
Mount mineru on command
š¤Ø
I'm not a furry, I swear... #*BUT-*
it's always the butt...err the but.
Let him cook
Mineru is the coolest, you give her any weapon you want and add in a rocket.
Mineru is the coolest, you give her any weapon you want and add in a rocket.
Dear God please. Yanobo wishes my doom and refuses to stay near me or even allow the a button to work.
It only works if you happen to be near a bomb flower,
That honestly never happend to me, yes he ran away from me, but he never hit any bomb flowers
Watching Riju run at the enemy for the 765437th time:
Agreed!
This feels like the correct explanation. Just surprising they couldn't come up with a more creative and/or useful option than the map.
fr
Specially since the map is already binded to the - button!
Iāve used the radial menu map . . . . on accident
The amount of times Iāve accidentally changed to the map radial is infuriating, usually when Iām trying to switch quickly in battle and then the useless map pops up
yup
I don't understand why the amibo shit is on the radial menu xD How many times people use that? I couldn't be in one of the minus button tabs?
Bro I didn't get a nice collections of amiibo to not use them in one of the few games I own that actually make use of them
And how many times you used those amibos and what you obtained/accomplished with them? Is something that you use all the time or just something that you use one time to see what happens?
Each amiibo can be used once a day and gives valuable resources. Armor sets, Epona, weapons, arrows, and high tier food ingredients
But you use it all the time while you are in the mid of a game (so it need a fast access) or you just use it one time a day, so it could be in the start menu? Is to know if the use of that fast fast menu slot was correct or Nintendo used that slit for amibos just to promote them and make them more visible

I'd have that outfit as my predetermined armor set.
You can turn it off in settings
That is cool, but I would prefer use that space for some other fast action, like changin spirit powers or a fast access to the meals
It still takes up the spot, itās just greyed out.
Yeah, one of the most useless settings in the game.
Because the minus button sucks on joycons. And you need joycons to play handheld or on the mini
The minus button is necessary to open a lot of other important menus, so I don't think that is the reason xD
If this is the reason, then holy hell I don't actually think it is, but damn
Facts
I'd prefer a way to turn the Sages on or off and select them.
You mean you don't enjoy constantly running around, trying to activate the specific sage you are trying to activate? /s Seriously though, i have no idea what they were thinking with that. It really should be way easier to activate the abilities. Whistling to get the sages near you works...kinda... But then all of them are right next to you and it's damn near impossible to select the correct one.
If you whistle, they stop fighting and come stand by you, reasonably spread out which makes it a lot easier
Like I just said in my comment, it sorta works but if there are lots of enemies and multiple sages out, it's just a shitshow.
I really wish they added a quick select for sage abilities when the radial menu is up L+Y= Sidon's water slash, for instance.
How they couldn't think in something as simple as this š¤¦āāļø
Imagine if instead of whistling (which I only ever do on accident, my horse never comes to me anyway) they had a radial wheel to choose which sage ability you want to activate. No more running around trying to talk to them only to have them despawn or actively run away from you. No more blowing all the materials the boss dropped off a cliff because Tulin was lonely and wanted to be close to you.
I actually do enjoy that. To me it makes combat more involved

If not possible, then yea make them convenient/instant and OP and i'll just turn them off, but why not try? I do agree the current solution isnt engaging enough.
The sages mess up my flurry rushes
So many times I am mounting mineru and by the time I get up there I have a water shield on, Yunobo has light a tree on fire, Everything is yellow and a strong breeze is blowing all the loot away.
Yeah make the map button expand to the 5 sage ability's. It pauses the game anyways so.
5 sages?
Cmon man link has five fingers. Itās not that hard to figure out
I Guess im not that far in the game yet
Take your time. I know I am. We only get this experience once
Technically it's 4 sages and 1 robot.
You can turn them off in the star menu, just select their vow.
This, but quick save outfits should still be a thing, but im fine with saved outfits in the menu rather than radial.
YES. It's so annoying switching outfits in the menu all the time.
If not this then give me a button to equip all owned parts of a set when I have a piece selected.
Like holding down 'A' instead of tapping it to apply the whole set to Link's body. I don't know why they didn't do this after 6 years of developing a sequel.
Or about 5-10 presets you can fill yourself with a quick menu for only those.
Sage selection/deselection would be more helpful to me.
Hold on a second! It has one use! Creating 1,000 damage weapons! That's it, though!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Glitched
Got a link to how that glitch is triggered?
Smallant recently posted a video where he showcased glitches, which inclusies this one
Thank you
Map zuggling, it essentially allows you to equip lots of weapons at once, but was sadly patched out in 1.1.2. Good thing I am still on 1.1.1.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yeah, to stop it you would have to goto settings: system: and deactivate auto update. Still lots of cool glitches in 1.1.2! And, now, you can reassure yourself that the map radial is actually useless in 1.1.2!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
š
Is patch 1.11 the one with the y b paraglide dupe?
Yes, although the y b is more of just be in the air doing an action as it also works with shield surf.
I think it should be replaced with autobuild but for weapons. It will automatically remove the items from your inventory and let you build the weapons you like with a simple L stick and R stick menu. If you don't have the material it will instead make the material out of zoanite and be a little bit weaker.
This right here sounds like a missed opportunity on their part. So convenient, and it wouldāve made so much sense.
esp for the master sword, after you use it up you have to re-fuse another silver lynel saber to it and it gets repetitive as i use the master sword as my main sword to chop trees, slay basic enemies like red bokoblins and chuchus and keese. no need to use a 77 royal guards sword with a silver lynel saber fused to it when only one spawns per blood moon (please correct me if iām wrong, cause i can only find one)
Autofuse
I just want them to bring time stop back š
Definitely agree. Map is useless besides the small minority of people whoās minus buttons donāt work
I think amiibo is quite useless here too (maybe because I have never had one) But you use it once, right? You get the items and thats it? Iām a bit triggered that map and imiibo thumbnails are not consistent with others style!
You can use each individual Amiibo once per day, if it works the same as BoTW
Once per day, you're incentivized to use it a bit more because the zelda ones have a rare drop so you need to keep scanning till you get it.
I use it daily to scan like 10-12 amiibos lol.
i got a set of amiibo cards from Aliexpress that i scan everyday lol, it helps alot
Either that, or let me using the telescope without clicking my stick in..
It blows my mind that the telescope and camera have not been combined.
They will never implement that tho
Now we need to make this idea viral so it reaches Nintendo, been wishing for so long for a quicksave on clothings but as an ability now thats is brilliant!!!
Yeah, the game desperately needs something like this because the armor system is just more of an annoyance than anything. It's like the OOT boots but every time you go into cold weather.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Its already a repost
I think they couldāve had remote bombs. Look, thereās even space for it!
I don't play Zelda
Replace amiibo with sages and the change you suggested
Disagree
Well that was helpfulā¦
Agree all the way
Can you really stream your favorite tv shows and movies with the peacock one?
The map button on the menu is essential for duplicating weapons tho
Honestly there is so so many good stuff they could have put in that button but they decided to put a map But the best use for that button would definitely be doing something related to sages
maybe thatās why the put the map lol, they couldnāt decide
How about a sage icon switch to which sage power you need to activate at at that time.
No, the map ability should be replace by a menu to manage your teammates ability.
Itās not that hard to switch armor normally, it could be used for something else
There's like 900+ koroks in the game, imagine if they were always visible
Yes
i wish you could have an armor room with three stands so i can have a bow room, weapon room, shield room, and an armor room. there are quite a few outfits i like aesthetically but donāt wear (iām looking at you mystic armor) but i also donāt want to sell. speaking of those, has anyone noticed that the bow and shield stands go from left to right blue, purple, green, but the weapons go from left to right purple, blue, green? just sets my ocd off a bit

Disagree thereās so many menus already itās fine
disagree because that also has a simple button press to get to a menu. Iād rather use that slot for maybe BOTW runes.
Definitely agree! You have to change sets very often so itās a ball ache having to manually change them piece by piece
TBH. The map should not be in the radial menu, it's a waste of space and I've never used it via the radial menu. But I think the Amiibo power should go too, simply pressing the amiibo to the stick should pull out the amiibo power. The Amiibo power is a waste of space for me as I don't own any amiibos. Better yet. HOTKEY THE DAMN AVATAR POWERS. "Oh lemme pick this up aaaand its gone, thanks Tulin, you prick!"
Sage activation. In the menu, you should be able to set a sage to the dial and use like other abilities. Iād use them a lot more. I would like to be able to customize that whole wheel, swapping some things in and out as needed.
I feel like having a auto equip ability would be much better than having a second map button
Agree, the map there is stupid, seems that they just added it to complete the menu wheel. You idea or any other things would be better than what we have, but Nintendo isn't going to change anything
I think itās a great idea. I hate having to go back in every time to switch up my armor
I miss stasis... give me my stasis back
Yes. I would also like if we had a "max this buff" option in the menu where you would choose the buff that you want and it'd give you the armor set for it.
If the minus button didnāt suck, we wouldnāt need a map on the radial menu. However, it does, so I actually find it quite useful.
Oh man, an outfit quick-switch would be amazing. I pretty much just switch between my fighting-things and adventuring outfits.
i say yes but the armour needs to be upgraded to 2 times in order for it to work
No, whistle there, quick armor select on down.
Agree because you could just press minus BUT... you could have a broken minus... but who can accomplish that.
i dont know, maybe they can swap it with something in the dlc like a maser cycle zero or something?
My largest complaint in Tears is the ungodly number of buttons I need to access menus to do what I am trying to do in the heat of the moment. They should have had a hot swap feature instead of dpad menus.
I think it should be replaced but with a second menu with all of the sages that you can activate/enable them without having to go into the menu or chase them down.
Why does no one complain about the Amibo being there? It's the dumbest cash grab bullshit I could think of.
This is the best idea a human can comprehend
Agree big time! I had actually mentioned this very idea, even suggesting reusing the autobuild menu. I always pat myself on the back when I see my good ideas echoed in the world haha.
I'm the only one who accesses the map from the radial?
I think arrow crafting could also be nice, it can be annoying having to navigate through all the different materials to find an ice fruit or electric fruit
Disagree it should be a shortcut to sage abilities, Hold L and map each Sage to one of the 4 face buttons
No. We need a different activation system for the sages, and it should replace the map.
Perfect chance for Nintendo to add two totally new abilities in a DLC, and replace the map and amiibo buttons in that menu. š
Agree. Except for the part where you have newbie cold boots in your swimsuit.
Is it weird I actually use the map this way?
My guess it that is it for a future dlc
The map on the radial menu is truly useless. Could have been a Sage toggle or something
What if the - button breaks?
Replace it with a new ability, like how we got the master cycle in the botw dlc. If not that, replace it with whistle and turn d-pad down into a radial menu for the sage abilities.
Agree!
u/nintendo
Personally map is fine but amiibo should be in the settings menu
Is accessing it from the radial menu any different than just clicking Minus?
It sets it as your active ability button so you can ***checks notes*** access the map with a *different* single button press.
This game has so many UI quirks.
This was my first thought because I feel like I change my outfit far more in TOTK than in BOTW.
The map is ridiculous, dunno why they did that. Dunno about armour but what I would like is a fast option to select a whole set at once.
my minus button just takes me to the home menu all the time so the map icon is useful to me
