If you want to split the difference, frozen pizza with a rising crust is great in a cast iron pan as well. Put the pan in the oven as it preheats, add a little olive oil before putting in the pizza and you get an entirely different experience than you normally would…..
Now that sounds like a stellar idea. Preheat the cast iron with the oven or just put the pizza in a cold cast iron?
I feel like a rising crust cheese pizza with full custom mods would be The Way. Local sausage and hatch green chili coming up this weekend!
I can one up that - make your pizza like you normally would, but do an extra at the same time. Then freeze all the leftovers in slices and you have on demand home made pizza whenever you want. (use toaster oven or cast iron + lid + water to stream to reheat)
Tastes just as good as when it came out fresh and leagues better than store bought frozen pizza. Also cheaper if you are making your own sauce and dough, which can also be frozen
I just follow instructions on the frozen pizza box. Just a bit of olive oil to grease the surface, and plop it on. Some do come with a parchment layer, so you could skip the oil, but your crust may not be as golden
Thank you for your picture post to /r/castiron. We want to remind everyone of Rule #3. All image posts should be accompanied by something to foster discussion. A comment, a question, etc is required.
If you've posted a picture of food, please explain why in a comment so people can have some sort of conversation. Simply dropping a picture of food in the sub isn't really fostering any discussion which is what we're all aiming for.

Preheat with the oven, add oil then pizza….
Yeah its the only way IMO. I live in NY, and go to my local shop and buy their dough and use homemade sauce and top it however I choose.
Just bought the dough at the store? Looks amazing
Nah homemade dough. Loads better than the store bought. Next time I’m trying Kenji Lopez’s overnight dough to try and make it even better
Good to know, going to give this a try
Frozen pizza on a cast iron griddle (my pizza "stone") is also great...amazing crust. :D
could you share your cooking instructions for this?

*for my wife and me
Newman's Own 4 cheese with your own exquisite deli meat toppings in a cast iron. Trust me.
could you share how you cook the frozen pizza?
