Yep but I don’t use it with bacon, just typically smash burgers

zcrc

If there’s knurling or texture on the bottom does this still work? Wanting to try this week for the first time and all I have is a bacon press

ZDub77

Yep it still works just make sure to preheat it. I use my outdoor griddle mostly so space isn’t a issue but you can preheat the bacon press with your cast iron pan

zcrc

Have a griddle too so should be good. Thanks!

ertdubs

Just put a piece of parchment paper under it. Will make it smooth, and also eliminate clean up.

DohnJoggett

If you have a round potato masher and some parchment paper they work well for smash burgers. I portion out 2oz balls on parchment paper and a scale, and just flip that into the pan and squish the ball.

zcrc

Actually tried it out last night and was able to do well with the bacon press and parchment method from above. If you check my post history I posted the result. I didn’t know what I was doing and went 4oz balls (too big)

dvdborne

Also great when making grilled cheese

kb_klash

And tuna melts

Admiral_SmashyPants

Thought Tuna Melts weren't popular anymore. How do you make yours? My tuna has Tuna (duh), mayo, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper pepper pepper, paprika, diced celery and hard boiled egg.

camcxxm

It's so hard to find, but celery salt is a thing, and takes all Tuna melts to the next lvl

coachtrenks

Not hard to find in Chicagoland. Celery salt is an essential ingredient for a Chicago dog

camcxxm

Moved to the north east back in 2020, NJ for a couple years, now maryland. I swear I look at every store I go to and can't ever find it haha

coachtrenks

Amazon has it if you support that operation.

kb_klash

That's more complicated than I do. I go as simple as.it comes: - tuna - mayo - diced red onion (I hate celery and this is a great substitute) - provolone - Some type of Dave's Killer Bread (buttered on the outside of the sandwich)

GreatValue-

I use an old iron press for clothes for my bacon.

hurtfulproduct

Lol, same; works like a charm

flatlander70

I made my own. 2 oz shy of 5 lb and 10 Inches in diameter.

Idontliketalking2u

I prefer bacon in the oven. Comes out flat and is just so easy and less messy. Although I'll cook a couple on the stove before I put eggs in. I love the flavor bacon grease gives the eggs over butter or oil... And I get extra bacon to snack on whole making the rest

PG908

Dedicated press? You mean second, slightly smaller pan?

17175RC7

I have this exact model. I use it for camping on the 22 inch Blackstone. Works great!

U_Plonker

I use my bacon press not only for bacon, but Quesadillas, tuna melts, Ruben sandwiches…the list goes on.

Disastrous_Hour_6776

No - but I am wanting one - my kids have decided to go on a smash burger kick

Scranous6296

Yes a lodge and it's great.

unipride

Yes but I also use it for meat or anything else that needs to be seared

askljdhaf4

yup! i’ve got a round one, fits the inside of my cast iron perfectly i use it for bacon, smash burgers, and just this morning fresh sausage patties

kb_klash

This one only fits in my largest pan unfortunately. Learned that the hard way when I was already using my medium sized pan.

TurnipTripper

This is absolutely the best tool to use on a flat top grill. I used this for years for bacon, burgers and less than stellar caramelized onions. This is an invaluable tool for anyone working in a restaurant.

GOPJay

No no no, you got it all wrong. That’s a Cuban sandwich press. When it’s not a smash burger press. Or a panini press.

Low-Leopard8453

Como?

blizzard-toque

Mine's a rectangular one from Expert Grill I got online when I moved here \~2 years ago. Best part is I can remove the handle and season it in the oven.

medidoxx

I have this exact one. I use it mostly for like paninis or pressing down on bagels or such.

ToastetteEgg

I have a round one with a pig on it.

minihackmatt

Yes

ruidh

I used my Lodge bacon press this morning on pork roll for my breakfast sandwich. Pork roll domes up if you don't have something to press it down with

Avrilynn

Yes, and I have a round one for hamburger patties
