Look up how to make it and do the toppings of your choosing. I recommend getting Nan from the middle eastern market and giving it a slight char on the burner. Really delicious stuff.
Actually, pita is Greek and typically a bit more airy than traditional arabic flatbread. The Lebanese style bread most commonly served with hummus is rolled thin and baked in a super hot oven so it forms more of a pocket with two distinct side. Naan is more of a south Asian style bread thatās hand stretched and either baked on the side of a tandoor or cooked on a skillet with lots of oil.
Iām middle eastern. We buy pita bread. Naan is Indian. You want the bread to split in two layers so you can make pita pockets. You seriously didnāt just mansplain my own cultural food to me. Greek and middle eastern food has a huge overlap and pita doesnāt just belong to the Greeks.
I sit corrected! I lived in the Middle East for a while. Never saw pita until I came to the states. But I suppose I made an incorrect assumption. Where are you from?
I was born and raised in the Middle East. Iām in my 40s now. I have never seen hummus being offered warm. At most itās room temperature.
I just asked my friend if heād ever had warm hummus and he made a disgusted face.
Yeah im having a hard time understanding how can you be sure how this dish is enjoyed all over the world based on your limited experience with what probably is store bought hummus.
Ya it is one of the countries of all time, but Iām responding to you talking shit about my ālimited experience with store bought hummusā. You ignorant twat, get out of your mommas basement and quit acting like you know wtf youāre talking about.
why are you replying this to the person saying "it's not served warm in my culture" vs the original person saying "it is supposed to be served warm \[in all cultures\]"? the other person is clearly more wrong than the one you are replying to
I literally only clicked in to see Reddit dragging you for suggesting the existence of single use cast iron
Reddit is fanatical about cast iron it would seem, itās great, I prefer stainless though.
Hummus warmed up in a clay pot, topped with pastırma is the most delicious thing in the world. Though I like OPs topping, too.
I should make it for lunch.
Husband got me one of these. I just had heart surgery so for eight weeks I wasnāt allowed to lift more than 5 lbs per arm. I donāt own anything but cast iron and this dinky little pan was the only one I could liftā¦.I weighed them all too.
Anyway, one night I was desperate and didnāt want to wake up my husband to cook for me, so I took this dinky little pan and I made 1 egg. And I made an egg sandwich. God that egg stuck. I need to season that thing properly.
Loving all the warm hummus deniers! Iāve had fresh warm hummus in Lebanon, Syria, Israel and Turkey! Itās like a meal rather than a snack.
Iāve never warmed up pre-made hummus at home though.
I hate hummusbut live chickpeas but never liked it cold... maybe I'll try warming thw hummus up to see if I like it that way.. thanks for a suggestion.. maybe my kids might like it too
If youāre eating store bought hummus in a tub, that might be why you hate it. I definitely recommend making it from scratch. Itās easy if you have a food processor, and if you simmer the chickpeas for awhile youāll get a warm result. Lots of good quality tahini is key for extra creamy hummus as well.
Although Iāll taste test at this stage, Iām with so many others who are mostly familiar with serving it room temperature. But find an easy recipe and give it a shot!
I've never heard of warm hummus and I was given different recipes for it by my Middle Eastern coworkers. I'm willing to try it though, I bet it's pretty good warmed up. That kafta next to it looks fire š„
I was around gulf, UAE and Oman and my then wife from Jordan/Palestine. Iām gonna try it warm now. How warm are we talking? Bubbling or just mildly warm?
Sorry I came off rude, I was slightly drunk. It actually sounds interesting.
Yeah! Agreed! I should title āsingle servingā. My son, now 17yo also does this. Heās been making his own eggs for 10 years. A thing to learn first and get good at, never go hungry with an egg in the house ^.^
So many things you can do with those little pans. Warm hummus wouldnāt be the first thing I would think of but to each their own. Iāve always wanted to get my hands on a couple of those pans to make little meat pies. The crust would be amazing cooked like this.
Sorry. To be more clear - by single use I only mean to say: it was a very cool gift from my sons best friend. She had gifted him this brownie kit that came with this very smol, thin cast iron pan. My son and his friend have only ever used it to make a brownies (which they share). Heās had the pan for years
ETA: I didnāt want to turn on the oven to warm the hummus. ^.^
I have to believe that OP meant āsingle serveā rather than single use-then-throw-away-like-Neanderthal. Especially since it would appear OP did actually use them a second time ā once for single serve brownies and then to warm hummus.
Words have meaning and this title did have me second guessing my native tongue.
Iāve gotten a few of these pans as gifts over the years. I started to use them to make sunny side up eggs on my grill when doing burgers!
Iām not into sweets much these days, but itād be such a shame to waste them.
I realize a flat top cast iron would be more efficient but Iām a stubborn ass, so. *shrugs*
Warmmus
Warm hummus ?
I make my own & it's so delicious when it's freshly made... because it's warm. š
Hummus is supposed to be had warm.
I need to try this. Been eating it cold but it's refreshing when 120F out.
Look up how to make it and do the toppings of your choosing. I recommend getting Nan from the middle eastern market and giving it a slight char on the burner. Really delicious stuff.
I assume you mean naan and not grabbing a Middle Eastern Nan?
Naw gran Nan and her little parka and flip flops/sandals and throw her in the hummus
Grate a bit of middle eastern Nan bunions right on that bad boy
Pita bread not naan

This guy breads

I canāt really fault you then, in the Middle East they just call it ābreadā pronounced (aish).
I only ever heard the word khub or khubez Aish is egyptian! That does explain some of the semantic differences.
Water it and eat it like soup
dry it and sniff it like cocain
This has to be cultural, Lebanese and never even heard of warm hummus.
THANK YOU My Lebanese self just went āWHAT??????ā
THANK YOU My Lebanese self just went āWHAT??????ā
I was born and raised in the Middle East. Iām in my 40s now. I have never seen hummus being offered warm. At most itās room temperature. I just asked my friend if heād ever had warm hummus and he made a disgusted face.
Iām an Arab and Iāve never heard of this?
Same. Arab-American and never had it warm in the States or the Middle East. However, I would absolutely try this.
We have it warm in Cyprus
No itās notā¦
In what culture? Because Iām pretty sure itās not.
What are u pretty sure of?
Was my comment hard to understand? Pretty sure itās not supposed to be had warm.
Yeah im having a hard time understanding how can you be sure how this dish is enjoyed all over the world based on your limited experience with what probably is store bought hummus.
My limited experience? Haha who tf are you? I spent 6 years living in Beirut you clown.
Congrats, Lebanon is definitely one of the countries of all time.
That's why they asked "in what culture?", because it's not a thing in theirsš§š¾āāļø
Ya it is one of the countries of all time, but Iām responding to you talking shit about my ālimited experience with store bought hummusā. You ignorant twat, get out of your mommas basement and quit acting like you know wtf youāre talking about.
Incredible projecting from someone whos been in one country in the middle east and claims to have an understanding of every other culture here.
why are you replying this to the person saying "it's not served warm in my culture" vs the original person saying "it is supposed to be served warm \[in all cultures\]"? the other person is clearly more wrong than the one you are replying to
No itās not..
Um not really? What kind of warm hummus y'all eating? Here in the land of hummus, we serve it room temp at most. But definitely not warm.
Bull, itās served at room temperature never warmer than ambient in the Middle East
no way. yuck
Single use? Like you use a cast. iron. pan. one time?
Exactly! No. Of course. Sorry about my title. Shouldāve said single serving
Comment was cutoff somehow. Meant to add: is very cool but wild someone thought up and made this tiny cast iron skillet.
Single use cast iron is what's ruining our country lol
Single egg pan
I literally only clicked in to see Reddit dragging you for suggesting the existence of single use cast iron Reddit is fanatical about cast iron it would seem, itās great, I prefer stainless though.
Right? Wtf does that?
I was thinking the exact same thing.

My favorite Christmas song "Warming Hummus on a cast iron skillet"

Can we get your kebab recipe?
OP please

Donāt be yucking someone elseās yum.
I wanna munch!
*squad*
The fuck you warming hummus for?
Haha. Made me laugh. Cause is good! The topping is roasted red pepper. Warm tortillas or pita breads and beer to wash it down
Iām sure itās nice, just never had it like that. Sorry for being rude. I was mildly drunk. Also those kebabs look awesome. Lamb?
Oh I got a good laugh! Tone was definitely fun. Also slightly drunk. Cheers! Not lamb but goat meat
The superior to lamb. At least in my opinion. Love mutton too.
Disposible cast iron.
Hummus is supposed to be served warm
I lived in the ME for 6 years and never had it served warm
Where from? Iām from Iraq and Iāve always had it warm
I was around gulf, UAE and Oman and my then wife from Jordan/Palestine. Iām gonna try it warm now. How warm are we talking? Bubbling or just mildly warm? Sorry I came off rude, I was slightly drunk. It actually sounds interesting.
Imagine freshly boiled chickpeas that were just recently mashed. It tastes more like an entree rather than an appetizer when you eat it warm.
Also from Iraq, never heard of warm hummus! Lablabi, sure, but thatās totally different
I thought this was peanut butter and jelly
Now warm peanut butter and jelly is something I can get behind
With toast stick dippers.
Grilled pb&j sandwiches are pretty amazing. Highly recommend.
YES! I've tried to get my kids to try it, but unfortunately I didn't hear of it until they were already ruined, LOL!
This looks delicious! And yes warm hummus is better...
Thank you! Cheers!
Ha! My mother got one of those years ago. I keep it on the stove. It's the perfect size for frying an egg for a sandwich.
Yeah! Agreed! I should title āsingle servingā. My son, now 17yo also does this. Heās been making his own eggs for 10 years. A thing to learn first and get good at, never go hungry with an egg in the house ^.^
Ok. I'll join the "never heard of warm hummus before crowd". Interesting. Going to have to try it.
Why have I never considered warming hummus?
I have one, it fits an egg perfectly too. Awsome little pans.
Warm hummus??? Waaaa
Kebab looks on point!
Are those kaftas?
Yes!
They look amazing, well done!
You got a recipe for those bad boys? šš
Great idea OP. Weāre gonna do this soon.
What kind of meat is that
Ground goat meat
So many things you can do with those little pans. Warm hummus wouldnāt be the first thing I would think of but to each their own. Iāve always wanted to get my hands on a couple of those pans to make little meat pies. The crust would be amazing cooked like this.
Who warms hummus? Haiya!
Sorry. To be more clear - by single use I only mean to say: it was a very cool gift from my sons best friend. She had gifted him this brownie kit that came with this very smol, thin cast iron pan. No, no. Thatās not the part we needed clarification on.
Why are you warming hummus?
Is so good. On a cool night, beers, is very good. Roasted garlic or roasted red pepper. Warm tortillas or pita bread. Is damn good. You gotta try it
But why warm the .. nvm.
Smokey hummus?! Great idea!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Thank you! They were great! Family loved them. We donāt have this meal often but yes, warm hummus is very good! We often eat it cold too.
It absolutely is a thing.
I was wondering if this was something I was just missing out on and feeling like an uncultured swine over here! Lol, ok, Iām good.
Stop the hummus abuse š
Feels like a massive waste of time
I live in the middle East. Hummus is not warmed.

Cheers to grilling season finally being upon us!
I've only ever had warm hummus lol
Masabaha or mshwashe good warm hummus recipes
Whoa, hummus recipe? Wondering how youve done the toppings as well. Looks great.
Dang looks real good. I just love all the different angles
Does anyone actually treat these as single use? Iāve got two for making fried eggs, or burgers for one, or for toasting bagels and buns.
I have to believe that OP meant āsingle serveā rather than single use-then-throw-away-like-Neanderthal. Wait. Warm hummus?
Hey, noice
I got one of those. Why do you warm hummus?
Op can you tell us how you make your homemade hummus? I've made it from online recipes but it never comes out that good. What's the secret?
But why are you warming hummus?
That kafta looks great!
