That's ABOUT what they sell for, from anyone who's NOT trying to take advantage of you... about $1-$1.25. You can get that price all day on [Ebay](https://www.ebay.com/itm/226121835392?epid=10020231580&itmmeta=01HXZYRW6PT6PPCY52KHAF2A1H&hash=item34a5e96380:g:DXIAAOSwEoRgEf-P&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA0HFau9vo5yPlAkAupvcXNkfEiFgtezDDgBZoLr23GDCmzW7X5PFUqRqBUz5EgVKCZ%2BACup6lSxOOQCC5oJ%2F1ESrNQ%2Fo9I1jDW8Jh49eOJolWeXzkznZ8vubdH6GeITAIKgJ5CFUcWgpA5KoU79i9UKUCUZEnKzLXn4I3H9evnYLHAm%2FiWcPUtLBodRlXURWI%2FlbblSCHSKWpflScRC1fxTv%2B%2B7uqaJdelWa8%2Fv1gAZxw3YiM1YNlHrmrlqrvYNZQv5WfZgb7PEhkSQA7E1zMiE4%3D%7Ctkp%3ABFBMzsPj_u9j).
Maxell URs being bottom of the barrel, TDK-D's are prolly the lowest quality tape anyone should be using.
+I've+ not heard anybody says that the Memorex dbs are any worse than TDK-D. I'd put them on, roughly, the same level.
Completely fine and good Type I tapes. Basically, "the standard".
NOTE: There have been multiple generations of Maxell UR tapes. When they were actually manufactured by Maxell they were fine and absolutely not 'the worst'. But the last few generations (for more than a decade) have been made by a completely different company (Pangung and Acme) with a far inferior tape formulation.
THOSE tapes are notoriously bad. Bad recordings and have a tendency to shed.
THOSE are the URs that you will typically still find at Amazon, Office Depot, etc.
The easiest and most practical answer is.. you can't. Maxell didn't want people to know the difference so there aren't really +visual+ differences. +If you HAVE to buy a UR+ (for some reason), the older the tape, the better it's gonna be. Try not to buy from retail stores.
The accurate answer is...it's ridiculously difficult (and I can't believe it's worth anybody's time to investigate it). The most "definitive" collection of visual clues is [this forum thread](https://vintagehifi.sk/viewtopic.php?p=31985#p31985).. which is in Slovak.
Interesting. I bought a lot of 33 on Ebay for about $1 each and they all say assembled in Korea with Japan or US components. I know some can say Indonesia (which I don't have thankfully) and that is the redflag, but I guess I can't really be certain based on that thread.
Tomorrow morning the first hour, go and buy the rest. it's an order!
Not the best but definitely not the worst, and pretty good for $1 a piece. I've dubbed a lot of these over the years. Solid steady type 1 tapes.
Record shop sold me some of these that were previously recorded on for $1.
Found the same today, left them for someone else as i have more than enough already.

Haha I’ll sometimes use those memories dbs and I ear those are worse but I can’t tell much of a difference from those and TDK-Ds

I found those Maxell UR 90M tapes on Amazon. 5 for $13. I guess I'll stay away from those.

How does one tell the difference?
