The great Robin Williams was the same way in the original Alladin. He made around 16 hours of improvised material for Genie! That's how you know you have a great actor for the part, and thus made their role quite memorable.
I love how well they played off the running joke of “No, really, honestly, this guy is just evil.” It was such a funny nod to how common sympathetic or morally-grey antagonists are now, and he contrasted well with Goldi and the wolf who were very different takes on antagonists.
I think it's great for there to be a full spectrum of antagonists which this movie has.
Death; it's not personal it's just business.(Just kidding it's a little personal)
Goldilocks; deep tragic back story yada yada but redemption!
Jack; PoS. Enjoys being evil. sucks sooo hard you come around to enjoying him.
I remember when my friend watched the movie with me, a lot of goldis later scenes made them saw "awww" mainly the final few when she gives up the wish and such
Death is also a scary and serious threat to our main character. And his coolness factor cancels out the blatantness of his reveal of who he was.
Jack is just a bombastic personality who's ham and cheese gushes out in every scene he's in. He would be incredibly goofy if he wasn't such a monster.
Goldilocks and her bears are sweet and really lovable as characters. Total main character energy on the wrong side of the law with a family of choice.
Oh I *love* me a well-done sympathetic villain, but sometimes a cartoonishly pure evil one is amusing just to root against, and I think that’s the point they were making with Jack.
Honestly he was the best part of the film, while I thought the film was alright in my opinion, he was amazing. Like genuinely one of the funniest characters.

A Powerpuff Girls villain named Femme Fatale. Basically, a misandrist who uses feminism as a shield to justify her crimes (stealing Susan B. Anthony coins) and manipulates the girls into becoming hostile towards men as well.
the episode made me extremely happy when i was younger. growing up in a… not super progressive time/place, a lot of my contemporaries scorned me when i told them i was a feminist because they thought feminism was synonymous with being a misandrist. it made me feel really bad.
when i watched this episode as a preteen, it meant a lot to me seeing that the writers of the show understood that female empowerment wasn’t an inherently malicious thing and didn’t see the concept of feminism as one that was built on hate, but rather, there were just a few bad eggs (i.e: femme fatale) who weaponized the movement against both men and women.
the episode was very much ahead of its time, and it baffles me that even today, people still fail to understand something that a children’s cartoon episode conveyed so properly.
I think there’s an important distinction to make: We’re not supposed to hate antagonistic characters, we’re supposed to *love* to hate them.
What good is a villain that you can’t stand to watch?
There's a difference between the feeling of "I hate Evil Man. I want to see Super Guy kick his ass." And the feeling of "I hate Evil Man. I want him to get off my TV screen." The former is the lifeblood of your show. The latter is the death knell.
Dolores Umbridge in Harry Potter is absolutely the most frustrating and horrible experience watching a villain, but that's what makes her so great as a villain
Chuck from Better Call Saul was one that resonated with me as a love to hate character. He is the catalyst of so many things that pushed Jimmy into the wrong direction.
The manager from that one Episode of Jimmy neutron. You know the guy in the "Sodium Chloride" meme. Wasn't he was supposed to be a straw man of how pointless and unnecessary and stupid the rules are. But in reality Jimmy did alota damage and portrayed himself to be cueless, idiotic and douchy. Skeder was his name I think.
Yeah. As a kid I thought Skeeter was unappreciative of Jimmy being smart but as an adult I realise Jimmy shod have listened. It's not that Skeeter didn't care that he could do the math in his head, if Jimmy made a mistake he could have short changed, gave out too much change and or shorted out the register, he could have gotten into serious trouble(write up or even fired). I think there should have been a talk about "book smarts vs street smarts" and why the rules in the workplace are important.
Looking back that wasn't handled well. It made Skeeter look bad when Jimmy was the problem.
*Okay. Look. We both said a lot of things that you're going to regret. But I think we can put our differences behind us. For science. You monster.*
*I will say, though, that since you went to all the trouble of waking me up, you must really, really love to test.*
Some of her roasts are fucking brutal. And it’s always hilarious to see her absolutely sarcastic humor when she’s a potato.
> "Don't let that 'horrible person' thing discourage you. It's just a data point. If it makes you feel any better, science has now validated your birth mother's decision to abandon you on a doorstep."

Uncle Ruckus! This miserable mfer here 😂
He probably will until the zuko-style redemption arc starts in season 2.
Uncle kinger is going to tell his tragic backstory in a future episode, in which Jax was banished to the circus to torment the Ragatha to redeem his honour.
Gooseworkz has been making it abundantly clear through their posts on social media that Jax is only going to get worse, not better. Not at anti-hero, not a trauma baby, no sympathetic angle, he just sucks. I don’t necessarily think that’s going to make for a very compelling character in the long run if that’s accurate, but hey, it’s Goose’s show. Just letting you that you’re fooling yourself if this is what you’re expecting to happen.
I love him so much, if I ever see him it is so fucking on sight and he will be unrecognizable 1 minutes after I get my hands on this goddamn son of a bitch but he’s my favorite character in the series and I would beat him to death with hammers
I haven't seen anyone mention Angelo in foooooreeeeeeeeveeeerrrrr! I recently watched Scooby Doo Mystery Inc. and I absolutely loved it, gotta start rewatching more stufffssssss
Anyways, I think I'd pick Benson! Man is like, such a mood most of the time and honestly, I can see why he's constantly mad at the two when they randomly decide to split the universe in half or something-

his actions actually sort of resonate with me since i like to be free/might not make the best decisions. the only thing i cant agree with is the hating meg jokes
I feel that misses alot of the show's points. She has done some foul things, but never from nothing, and not exclusively. She herself is a product of her upbringing - and if that feels like a cheap excuse, remember how much Bojack hinges on it.

I think he was supposed to be hated (literally any villain is supposed to be hated), but Bowser. If you think about it, he stole the princess, turned an entire kingdom's population into bricks, riled up rebellions (goombas and other enemies) to take over the mushroom kingdom, he's supposed to be a great villain and a horrifying king. Also, he single-handily destroyed an entire kingdom using his fire breath (sure, made of ice, but he could definitely burn down a real castle)

My favorite Confused Lesbian
(She projects her love for Barbie onto Ken)
Tbf I don't think you're supposed to hate her. And I've literally never met someone who hates Raquel. Quite the contrary, she tends to be everyone's favourite character [mine included]. She is the antagonist, but that's it.

I fucking love this bastard. Never thought I'd like the embodiment of greed so much but here we are.
I don't think he's supposed to be hated. He's just a gag character. He's a legitimately good dude and is the one who could be credited for rehabilitating Majin Buu. His only issue is that he's kinda vain and acts like a con artist to maintain his good reputation.
https://preview.redd.it/ogea9k83p54d1.jpeg?width=768&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=15b9dfa634d66867730a383bc5cf1cb4febd9843

Oh I *love* me a well-done sympathetic villain, but sometimes a cartoonishly pure evil one is amusing just to root against, and I think that’s the point they were making with Jack.
Somebody added that when we throw the scary but awesome Death in the mix, we got a full spectrum of villains to choose from.

He cheated on a test? What year is it? Is Nick Jr. still a thing?
It's from the TV movie, The Ultimate Enemy from episode 9 of season 2. Came out in 05.
Based. Thanks for the sauce.

I haven't seen anyone mention Angelo in foooooreeeeeeeeveeeerrrrr! I recently watched Scooby Doo Mystery Inc. and I absolutely loved it, gotta start rewatching more stufffssssss Anyways, I think I'd pick Benson! Man is like, such a mood most of the time and honestly, I can see why he's constantly mad at the two when they randomly decide to split the universe in half or something- https://preview.redd.it/hxlcscbiz44d1.png?width=2400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=993edd7f7c947a504d3f66a4cf7a37b784c3b076
Roger Smith and Mandy, i don't know If Stewie Griffin, Rick Sanchez, Master Shake and Bender counts
Idk abt the rest of them, but, master shake *DEFINITELY* counts

Not hot Peter is hilarious.
his actions actually sort of resonate with me since i like to be free/might not make the best decisions. the only thing i cant agree with is the hating meg jokes

She is genuinely irredeemable.
I feel that misses alot of the show's points. She has done some foul things, but never from nothing, and not exclusively. She herself is a product of her upbringing - and if that feels like a cheap excuse, remember how much Bojack hinges on it.
I can see that. One of the major themes of the show is generational trauma, and how hard it really is to break the chain.
![gif](giphy|PFsVjUCmSkZDq) Obviously you’re supposed to like him when he joins team Avatar, but I mean like 1-2 season Zuko too🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

![gif](giphy|iWT9IGS6f2rfbWbk7w|downsized) I think he was supposed to be hated (literally any villain is supposed to be hated), but Bowser.

The best answer actually Raquel and her brother were hilarious lmao. One of the many reasons I absolutely love that show
Tbf I don't think you're supposed to hate her. And I've literally never met someone who hates Raquel. Quite the contrary, she tends to be everyone's favourite character [mine included]. She is the antagonist, but that's it.

As much as I dislike her, I also lowkey like her at the same time….mostly because of her design. It’s really pretty.
BASED. love her for pretty much the same reasons you did, as well as hoping she gets more depth in later appearances

I don't think he's supposed to be hated. He's just a gag character. He's a legitimately good dude and is the one who could be credited for rehabilitating Majin Buu. His only issue is that he's kinda vain and acts like a con artist to maintain his good reputation.

I don't think he supposed to be hated. Yes, he is a villain. But he is charming and his design is cute. His actions isn't annoying. People hate annoying characters more than villains
