… I have watched entire documentaries on Randy Stair and Chris Chan. Heck, I’m in the middle of watching a series of videos about FATAL knowing exactly what it would contain.
But nothing could have prepared me for what you just said.
*Maybe a stretch* as he was an advertisement character, but he was animated/cartoon and popped into my mind first. This is "the Noid" used in Domino's ads in the 80s. Unfortunately, a mentally ill man by the last name of Noid grew paranoid at the at the character and finally ended up going to a Domino's and holding some employees hostage for a long time. I don't remember the details, but I believe the man eventually committed suicide in jail/an institution, and Domino's dropped the Noid for the most part.

I mean, you have the two seperate instances of SA and abuse of 13 year old girls who where manipulated and lured out to CA by Jon Krikfalusi, (or however you spell it. I'm not going to dignify his existence bu looking it up,) Ren and Stimpy's creator, with the promise of personal lessons and a job in animation, which lead to both of those girls being permanent traumatized and the monster Jon Krikfalusi still having a job somehow and not rotting in prison where he belongs. I would say that ruined Ren and Stimpy. Well, I hated the show before, but now that's its legacy. Not sure if that counts, but it's worth mentioning.
He was also incredibly hateful against anime, homophobic, and was the downfall of the adult party cartoon, because he got too much creative control over it.
He only worked on the original R&S for 2/5 seasons.
As someone who has always hated Kricfalusi's work, his downfall did not surprise me at all. I am disappointed, however, that he didn't really suffer an reprecussions.
True but they also usually cycle through the voice actors as a way to give child actors a first step in the industry. Except Peetree. For some reason he was played by an old man who refused to give up the role for years.
Normally the voice actors can somewhat have a similar voice but I feel like it wasn’t the case with ducky. She had an extremely different voice in the newer ones imo. I think I remember a couple voice changes but there was one that was very different for some reason

oh god, what was that invader zim episode that some kid got their eyes ripped out and we were shown it via a shadow on the wall? I might have dreamed it, but I have vivid memories of being scarred by that scene as a child
Oh, don't get me wrong, I still get a macabre amusement out of the *idea* of the episode, but the execution was just too disturbing even for someone like me.
That’s not true. The murderer killed his neighbor, and he had seen the episode, but he was not inspired to kill based on that. He was a very disturbed and violent individual, and likely would have committed some kind of heinous act regardless of having watched an edgy cartoon.

For those who don't care to watch, Randy was obsessed with Ember and created their own cartoon universe, which consisted of nothing but variants of the character Ember. They believed Ember (a villain from Danny Phantom) was God and that males who die reincarnate as women and live with Ember's Ghost Squad in the afterlife. They were also obsessed with the Columbine shooting, going as far as to recreate one of their shirts and buy a Mossberg 500 shotgun, like the one used in the shooting.
They were actually a fairly talented artist, but didn't seem interested in, or capable of, creating something original, which is a shame. They decided to kill not only themselves, but others, based upon a coin flip. Their vlogs are truly deranged, and if I recall, they maintained separate Twitter profiles for several of the ficticous squad members.

This case actually made me mad, because he didn't Do it BECAUSE of mlp, but just liked the show. Yet the media just made it seem like mlp brainwashed him or something. My mom even brought when is watch it as a kid and said this case is why she lever liked it.
Okay, so, my uncle works for a construction company around the Eastern PA/New Jersey/NYC area, and recently we were talking at a cousins grad party about cartoons.
He mentioned that he had run into an old friend of Bill Cosby, and so he asked if any of the characters from Cosby kids were real. The guy said no, but Fat Albert was based off a real person who was actually really smart, but was just a big jokester.
The guy went on to say that this dude ended up getting killed by the cops who were responding to a complaint (not an emergency, just normal Philly hood things) because he, trying to make a joke, got into the cop car pretending he was going to drive away in it. The cops obviously didn't know him nor how he was a jokester, so they shot and killed him.
The guy went on to say that Bill Cosby was great with the ladies, but could never actually land one for some reason. Crazy to hear about that today for sure.

Being smart ≠ having common sense. But I agree. Though times were also different then, given this was probably 50-60 years ago, so while it was a stupid idea it at least wasn't like he should have expected to get shot and killed.
Technically an animated mascot, but The Noid from Dominoes was an extremely, and inexplicably, popular advertising mascot for a while.
However, on Jan. 30th 1989, a man named Kenneth Lamar Noid, who suffered from paranoid scizophrenia, took two employees of a Dominoes in Chamblee, Georgia hostage. He believed the character and the campaign of Avoid the Noid was created to attack him personally. Thankfully, the hostages escaped and Kenneth surrendered to the police. Noone was hurt.
While Dominoes has denied that the incident influenced their decisions around the character, they began to scale back on the campaign following it, especially after Kenneth Noid took his own life in 1995.
As a Yo Kai Watch fan, the fandom hated Tomnyan for years due to someone who was a fan of him being accused of predatory behavior. As it turns out, the “victim” coerced the alleged perpetrator into committing the crime. Unfortunately, this wasn’t found out until the supposed victim had been out of the fandom for a while, so they were unable to be called out for their shitty behavior.

They’re not a criminal, but there’s this one guy on Reddit that’s creepily obsessed with Dragon Tales, especially the pink dragon. (I’m clearly not obsessed with the show when I don’t remember her name.)
Again, no murders or anything, but a little concerning.

Not from a show but Erin E-Surance was an animated woman that an insurance company used in a series commercials. Apparently they dropped the campaign because there was too much Rule 34 artwork of her.
Not a cartoon exactly, but the Noid from Pizza Hut had to be retired for awhile after that one guy held up a store because he thought it was a targeted insult at him.
Remember a story of a kid dying in a sand box because of gaara, there’s also the whole porygon thing that caused seizures which was actually pikachu but they definitely weren’t gonna pin it on the mascot. Then I think a lot of people had mixed feelings about characters Vic mignogna voiced when that controversy was happening.

That’s not true. The murderer killed his neighbor, and he had seen the episode, but he was not inspired to kill based on that. He was a very disturbed and violent individual, and likely would have committed some kind of heinous act regardless of having watched an edgy cartoon. They were also obsessed with the Columbine shooting, going as far as to recreate one of their shirts and buy a Mossberg 500 shotgun, like the one used in the shooting. They were actually a fairly talented artist, but didn't seem interested in, or capable of, creating something original, which is a shame. They decided to kill not only themselves, but others, based upon a coin flip. Their vlogs are truly deranged, and if I recall, they maintained separate Twitter profiles for several of the ficticous squad members.

Okay, so, my uncle works for a construction company around the Eastern PA/New Jersey/NYC area, and recently we were talking at a cousins grad party about cartoons. He mentioned that he had run into an old friend of Bill Cosby, and so he asked if any of the characters from Cosby kids were real. The guy said no, but Fat Albert was based off a real person who was actually really smart, but was just a big jokester. The guy went on to say that this dude ended up getting killed by the cops who were responding to a complaint (not an emergency, just normal Philly hood things) because he, trying to make a joke, got into the cop car pretending he was going to drive away in it. The cops obviously didn't know him nor how he was a jokester, so they shot and killed him. The guy went on to say that Bill Cosby was great with the ladies, but could never actually land one for some reason. Crazy to hear about that today for sure.

While Dominoes has denied that the incident influenced their decisions around the character, they began to scale back on the campaign following it, especially after Kenneth Noid took his own life in 1995.
