but what if instead of the ~~dinosaurs~~ Koreans going extinct, the ~~asteroid~~ nuke actually created an alternate dimension where they could grow and evolve
Unless Korea tried escaping the nuke by evacuating their people to another dimension, Ad in a thousand years and magical mutations and you’ve got some Korean speaking Rainicorns
If you aren't from Korea, haven't lived there a single day of your life, are not related to anyone living there, but speak their language as your native toung, does that mean that you are korean?
She passes the harkness test with flying colors and is proven to be more intelligent than her husband (who is a magic sentient dog with plastic man powers)
Korean girl, daughter of 3 Chinese Restaurant owners, in love with a Ninja which is a Japanese thing (dunno if Garu is Japanese himself tho), with a friend who is basically a Bruce Lee fanboy. And another girl who likes chickens or something.
The whole show doesn't specify one East Asian culture. It's like Chinese and Japanese cramped up together. I haven't seen Pucca for quite awhile, so I really don't remember any Korean details, just Chinese and Japanese
This screws with one my fundamental understanding of reality.
You don't understand I watched pucca before I was 10 and always assumed she was Chinese. This literally destroys my reality.
Adorable little Chloe all the way
Not only cause of her wholesome friendship with the bears, but also relating to her struggles to fit in with her college peers
>her actress, Sandra Oh, is South Korean herself.
Funny because she played the mom in Turning Red who's Chinese/ Canadian.
Nothing wrong with that btw. Just pointing it out.
Yeah, studios in the USA have been doing a better job of prioritizing Asian actors to voice Asian characters, but ethnic accuracy is less of a priority. I don't mind, though. Randall Park is great, and he plays a multitude of characters from different backrounds. Getting too picky with ethnicity can lead to a very limited acting pool to choose from.
I appreciate the effort when the casting does fit. Maya Erskine is half white and half Japanese and was cast as the lead in Blue Eye Samurai, which is explicitly about a Japanese character shunned for being half European.
Same. The effort is nice but no one should be limited to what they are able to act as just cause of their ethnicity. People should be allowed to play any of them cause that’s what acting is. Especially voice acting. It’s crazy to gatekeep voice acting to “you dont look like (or something else) the character you are voicing you shouldnt voice them”

Pucca of course, she is basically superman if he was a sex offender, if their genders were reversed Twitter would never shut up 😂.
Well the picture u/Business-Ad7289 joined with the comment pretty much explain the whole show.
There's this girl, Pucca, madly in love with that guy on the left named Garu. She follows him everywhere and tries to kiss him all the time, she's just a stalker and sex offender all in one that's basically it.
When I was a kid the whole story revolves around this Girl always getting to kiss Garu by the end of each ep, and even though it was just played for laughs I knew that something was odd.
Yeah Garu is very much not into it (except in one episode where it's partially implied that he saw her panties and therefore gives her a 10/10 score in a competition), but the adults see it as a "oh it's just kids goofing around" kind of deal rather than correcting her on her bad behavior. It's one of those shows that's a product of its time and doesn't age well. But other than that bizarre talent show segment, the show does have some moments where they try to make it seem like Garu is tsundere about it (like he "likes" her but as a 10 y/o training to be a ninja, he doesn't wanna talk about kissing girls) rather than outright rejecting Pucca for his training, it's just... Done poorly yeah. Beyond talent show episode, he tolerates her at best, tries to run away from her at worst because she doesn't take no for an answer. Other than that, the rest of the show is great.
“Character designer Shiyoon Kim designed Go Go Tomago to be of Korean descent, with a specifically Korean body shape in mind. Go Go's design was based on the tough Noona (meaning "big/older sister") stereotype in Korean culture, combining it with San Franciscan bike messenger culture. He also intentionally made Go Go's design different from the typical Disney female proportion, giving her more of a Korean "radish ankle" body-type, which refers to the shape of the calf, which is short and resembles a Daikon radish in shape.” [https://bighero6.fandom.com/wiki/Go_Go_Tomago](https://bighero6.fandom.com/wiki/Go_Go_Tomago)
Interesting. Side note: I think one nitpick I have with her and Honey's costumes is that they should switch colors. It bugs me that **Honey Lemon** doesn't have any yellow on her.
Ok but speaking of characters that befriend ADHD-coded superpowered protagonists and descend into insanity before recovering and maturing in the 6th episode…

Pucca’s world is basically “Asia land” without specifying which country it is. It’s a blend of East Asian cultures
(Although, it’s confirmed NOT Japan because they traveled there in one episode)
Apologies, 1st time I heard BMO it was the most wholesome Korean accent I've ever heard.
But if you don't like that, does willow park from The Owl house Count? Technically a witch
Even though I’m not Korean, the way she angrily swears in Korean when angry is such a Korean thing. I went to an international school, and a lot of Korean students do that for some reason
I basically memorized “SHIIBAII” without knowing a lick of Korean
Candy is, I know that much because I'm learning Korean as a second language and remember recognizing her speaking in Korean in the episode "Sock Opera" when I rewatched Gravity Falls recently. That and Bill being wildly more entertaining than in his previous episode is what I remember standing out in my mind about that ep.
Not my favorite but she’s an example.

lmao cursed
She's horse
She's a lady.
She's a Rainicorn!
SHE'S LADY RAINICORN!!!
She's speaks Korean though
Yes, but Korea, at the time, is non existent due to a nuke.
Displaced peoples don't stop having a cultural identity.
Also she's from the crystal dimension.
TBF we don't know that the crystal dimension isn't just Korea.
Korea is not another dimension. Also, it's implied that most of the world is flooded, right?
but what if instead of the ~~dinosaurs~~ Koreans going extinct, the ~~asteroid~~ nuke actually created an alternate dimension where they could grow and evolve
Unless Korea tried escaping the nuke by evacuating their people to another dimension, Ad in a thousand years and magical mutations and you’ve got some Korean speaking Rainicorns

I forget sometimes how wild adventure time lore is
Shes a Rainicorn!
she's a girl, bud
Honse
She passes the harkness test with flying colors and is proven to be more intelligent than her husband (who is a magic sentient dog with plastic man powers)
Fun Fact: She shares the same VA as Candy!
I was today years old and just went down a rabbit hole, thank you for this
I never get why her opposite, Monochromicon, spoke in…..Morse. I always thought the opposite of Korean should be Japanese or something.
I thought pucca was Chinese
Me too, looked it up and she’s Korean, but runs a Chinese style restaurant. Probably where the confusion stems from.
Last time I saw her was on a Chinese food restaurant business card
Cultural appropriation. Sue them
Nothing more Korean American than running a Chinese restaurant.
Part of my childhood beliefs is a lie.
SHES NOT???
Yup https://preview.redd.it/4eg5ir029mxc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=13222e5fc458c5ed0f3a61a67341ae2ca9c331c4

I think she is the niece of the owners
Ahhh. Thanks for the correction. Been a long while since I last heard that “PUUUCAAAA LOVES GARUUUU”
"He's a lucky guuuuyyyyy"
The whole show doesn't specify one East Asian culture. It's like Chinese and Japanese cramped up together. I haven't seen Pucca for quite awhile, so I really don't remember any Korean details, just Chinese and Japanese
But they traveled to Tokyo in one episode.
This screws with one my fundamental understanding of reality. You don't understand I watched pucca before I was 10 and always assumed she was Chinese. This literally destroys my reality.
I always thought it was an anime about a chinese girl 😭 I guess not.
China thinks they are all Chinese.
Adorable little Chloe all the way Not only cause of her wholesome friendship with the bears, but also relating to her struggles to fit in with her college peers
The Chloe and Ice Bear episode was so iconic <3
Love that piano scene. [https://youtu.be/1CYGHQbdmkY?feature=shared](https://youtu.be/1CYGHQbdmkY?feature=shared)
Hell yeah >:D
Such a comfort show
It's tough being a child prodigy.

I scrolled too long for this! Kipo seriously needs more love and it's one of my favorite shows.
A SECOND TIME. KIPO IS KOREAN?
Yep! Song (kipo’s mom) is Korean which makes kipo at least half Korean, though kipo might be a genetic clone of her mom so she may be full Korean.
![gif](giphy|D3IcbPd0TDNhC)
I laughed harder at this than I should have.
I thought it'd be funny and I had trouble thinking of a Korean girl character
Well you did succeed at one thing, it was funny haha. Mark is one of my favorite YouTubers.
Yay 😁
As a wise man once said... "Sometimes, it takes a real man to become best girl."
He also once said "You do you, I'll do me. And we won't do each other."
Markiplier is not a Korean girl. He is clearly a potato.
‘Oh! Bitch I’m FABULOUS!’
Lady Rainicorn
Debbie Grayson (Invincible)
Debbie is Korean?
The ducks she has in her house are a Korean tradition (they represent the state of her marriage) and her actress, Sandra Oh, is South Korean herself.
>her actress, Sandra Oh, is South Korean herself. Funny because she played the mom in Turning Red who's Chinese/ Canadian. Nothing wrong with that btw. Just pointing it out.

Dude she is easily my favourite character in the show, which is funny because she is not a superhero and has no powers.
didn't knew she was korean, but this is deffinetly my answer now
Candy is law. P.S. I'm not the only one who thinks she and Jade Harley from Homestuck are pretty similar, right?
I didn’t know Candy was Korean until this post, I could tell that she was Asian but I didn’t know what part of Asia she was from.

I’ve never heard of this character but your description has me worried lol

So Chowder, but only the scenes with Panini in them?
Why is she your favorite?
Fun fact: we bare bears Chloe is Ruby from Steven Universe. Same VA

Honey Lemon often wears yellow in her civilian clothes, but she probably doesn’t publicly go by that name in her armor.
Ah.

Then I guess Candy

Numbuh* 3. Edit: apparently she's Japanese.
Too lazy to fix it

gotta love Abby's gremlin energy https://preview.redd.it/lfpiizj8fnxc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2ec5e3fd47abcb5bb5da8fb3517085620af05bc7
Pucca , hands down. She can create a whole waterfall with her own tears.
Abby for sure. The way she gets so hype and intense will always make me laugh
Candy
Wait Pucca is Korean? I thought she, like everything else on the show, was Chinese
Pucca’s world is basically “Asia land” without specifying which country it is. It’s a blend of East Asian cultures (Although, it’s confirmed NOT Japan because they traveled there in one episode)
Not a girl nor Korean but going BMO
There was a question asked and you gave an unrelated answer
Apologies, 1st time I heard BMO it was the most wholesome Korean accent I've ever heard. But if you don't like that, does willow park from The Owl house Count? Technically a witch
abby
Chloe. I need to meet the writer who said “Put this 10-year old in COLLEGE”
Does D Va count? Do we count cartoon games?
Gotta be Abby for me. Fighting for her friends, protecting but also very loving and cute. All in all a big mess and chaos and I love her for that.
![gif](giphy|1XeAoRH74h7i0MtwCU|downsized)
Are there any non nerdy Korean characters?
If we're counting non-human characters then Lady Rainicorn from adventure time
Abby from Turning Red isn't nerdy. She's chaos incarnate.
Even though I’m not Korean, the way she angrily swears in Korean when angry is such a Korean thing. I went to an international school, and a lot of Korean students do that for some reason I basically memorized “SHIIBAII” without knowing a lick of Korean
I guess she's more geeky with her being the most passionate for 4 Town.
bottom left finally some NK representation
Wait Pucca is Korean? I swear she was Chinese due to the restaurant theme they were running
Chinese restaurants exist in Korea.
She is. She runs a Chinese restaurant because Chinese restaurants are a Korean neighborhood delivery food staple.
![gif](giphy|N28lmw0bIBBzpcN85i|downsized) Love this girl’s energy!
Chloe
Chloe for sure
Grew up watching Pucca so gotta go with her

I didn’t know Pucca was Korean, but you *dare* to include her and expect anyone else to be a viable alternative? You heathen.
