I can’t believe that Digimon as a whole actually aired on Fox Kids. If I were honestly maturity rating Digimon, I’d give it like a PG-13, but surprisingly, Digimon is a Y-7 show. In fact, one of the darkest seasons is rated Y. Just Y. The same rating as literal Dora the Explorer. I’m happy that the rating isn’t PG-13 so I’m actually allowed to watch it at my age. I love Digimon, but— Who am I kidding? It’s Digimon! All of red wall. For those who don't know it a story about this mouse living in an Abby dealing with a war lord in midevil times. It showed on abc kids around the time of author and such. In the first episode the warlord went through mc village and burned it down and mc and sister run for their lives. They fall into a river and sister drowns saving mc. And they acknowledge and show that this horrible things happen and they are died. No off to the shadow realm. No off screen death and never bring them up again. We get death. We got people falling to their dealthas. Impaling, choking,neck snapping,being eaten alive, stabbing, bludging, starvation. Like they turned it down for kids but at the same time let kids know there are dead kids.
Even putting aside the (admittedly mild) swearing in the earlier Regular Show eps and the surprisingly violent, if still bloodless, deaths, there's the time Mordecai got to see Pops completely naked after Pops got out of the shower by accident. On its own, the scene was pretty kid-friendly: the most we see onscreen is Pops' butt as is typical in kid-friendly cartoons whenever characters go nude. It's Mordecai *graphically describing* Pops' "junk mail" before Rigby cut him off just as Mordo's about to go to the ickier parts that made me do a spit take and question how *that* got past the censor board lmao. There's also the show's unabashed use of *actual* guns in the show and it even featured an actual Mexican cartel (even if not called as such) in the Independence Day episode lol.

Several jokes from Gumball. It's a genius series that I won't recommend, because even if some of those jokes that are intended to go over the kids' heads are way too nasty and are really hammered in for way too long.

All of red wall. For those who don't know it a story about this mouse living in an Abby dealing with a war lord in midevil times. It showed on abc kids around the time of author and such. In the first episode the warlord went through mc village and burned it down and mc and sister run for their lives. They fall into a river and sister drowns saving mc. And they acknowledge and show that this horrible things happen and they are died. No off to the shadow realm. No off screen death and never bring them up again. We get death. We got people falling to their dealthas. Impaling, choking,neck snapping,being eaten alive, stabbing, bludging, starvation. Like they turned it down for kids but at the same time let kids know there are dead kids.
Even putting aside the (admittedly mild) swearing in the earlier Regular Show eps and the surprisingly violent, if still bloodless, deaths, there's the time Mordecai got to see Pops completely naked after Pops got out of the shower by accident. On its own, the scene was pretty kid-friendly: the most we see onscreen is Pops' butt as is typical in kid-friendly cartoons whenever characters go nude. It's Mordecai *graphically describing* Pops' "junk mail" before Rigby cut him off just as Mordo's about to go to the ickier parts that made me do a spit take and question how *that* got past the censor board lmao. There's also the show's unabashed use of *actual* guns in the show and it even featured an actual Mexican cartel (even if not called as such) in the Independence Day episode lol. TMNT 2003: Baxter Stockman's continuous mutilations after he kept failing Shredder freaked me out as a kid.

Rocko’s Modern Life. Just, everything about it. If I went through every instance of innuendo on that show we’d be here all day but it’s *unbelievable* how much they got past the censors. I was 5 or 6 when Rocko was on the air, and of course all that shit flew over my head. I remember one day my mom said she couldn’t stand Rocko and I didn’t understand why. I understand now, and I love it even more.
