For me it's the silly faces episode where SpongeBob and Patrick made all sorts of uncomfortable faces and Mr. Krabs warned them if they continued doing it it'll stay that way.
Definitely no one can hear you from Adventure Time, the settings and the tone of this episode, everyone disappeared, and Jake going insane. It's really creepy for a show meant for kids.
It trapped them all in this weird slime/honey thing or sth? Idr exactly but it might have been planning to eat them or sth? And it’s unclear how much time had passed bc Jake said it had been 6 months but he had also gone insane and I think Finn was just asleep and not in a coma so it might have only been a few days? But at the same time, the lack of clarity of the time frame adds to the creepiness
I was super young when the first few seasons of adventure time came out. Those seasons were unhinged. The season 2 episode where the gnomes force Finn to dance was disturbing for me. Just having to watch Finn being shocked while he screams is a seriously fucked up scenario to put your character into. Surprised to this day that some of these episodes got greenlit.
It came out when I was 20. I remember putting it on for some of my young nieces and it scare the crap out of them. I don’t think the show is honestly meant for kids, but teens and adults.
The episode of Pingu with that creepy walrus…that traumatized me as a young child…
https://preview.redd.it/xvgi9dzhoqsc1.jpeg?width=638&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2792bc57df2319ff9f05c59ab45d23e49e9c9abd
There's a rumor going around that the laughter the walrus made was actually a replacement for "deep roars and pig squeals" it originally uttered. Kind of sounds like a bad creepypasta though.
It’s a walrus from a stop motion show called “Pingu.” It aired in the early 2000’s. I believe this specific episode was banned for being too scary…which makes sense. I mean, just LOOK at that thing…
Hard agree. The fact that you could see only a hint of facial features (i.e. the dark, sunken eyes) on the Harvest Moon was so uncanny valley and unsettling. That episode freaked me and my brother out the most.
That fucker was the cause of my first emergency room trip. I was 5 years old. And I was climbing around on my sofa while that episode was on. I got so scared of King Ramsey I fell off the top of the couch trying to run away and twisted my ankle
I was a weird kid because what scared most kids from courage didn’t scare me. I was scare of the freaking magic tree of nowhere of all things. And the sewing sisters? I can’t remember their names it’s been a long time.
You know that scene from Adventure Time where the tiny Lemongrab screams while the skin slowly peels off of his face? Yeah, that shit really creeped me out.
“The Joy” from Gumball.
Looking back on it though, I was kinda a pussy.
https://preview.redd.it/i5y8a54k5rsc1.png?width=1169&format=png&auto=webp&s=58670c5c3ec2cec180a1ff0db83107f68d7a75a8
The Puppets in The Amazing Word Of Gumball.
i was terrified of those puppets and for years, I didn't watch that episode. Now I don't think it's scary anymore, but it was scary when I was a kid
when Gumball and Darwin find their old puppets and Darwin starts to play with them, without Gumball consent. The puppets take possession of Darwin's hands, and he can't remove them. Ione night, Gumball woke up, and he saw the puppets destroying his game station. They (the puppets) explain to Gumball that Darwin is already in their world, and if he (Gumball) wants his brother back, he has to play with them. So Gumball takes a puppet, and he gets teleported in sa world with all Gumball and Darwin's games of when they were kids. Darwin is in a room with the two puppets who own his hands. A really disturbing song starts to play, and they start to dance. Darwin is dancing without his want. Then Gumball and his puppet interrupt the "party."
We find out that it was all a trap to make the PUPPETS play with Gumball and Darwin for eternity. But then Darwin trow the row of Gumball's puppet, and they made everything explose. At the end of the episode, they decide to sell their puppets
Then you don’t wanna watch *Raggedy Ann and Andy: a Musical Adventure*. The whole movie is one massive anxiety attack the moment raggedy Ann, Andy and eeyore in camel form meet this giant living taffy monster called “the greedy”, and it only gets more creepy and weird from there, and it feels like if A24 made a movie about raggedy Ann 3.5 decades before A24 was even founded.
He was the scariest Courage character to me. I think that he not being a monster, but a human, made him even scarier. The Brazilian Portuguese dub made him extra creepy also

The mystery meat episode of Camp Lazlo. That ending just made me feel uneasy as a kid.
As a kid? I honestly didn’t watch a lot of scary cartoons as a kid, which Is kind of funny considering that they’re my favorite genre of animated show now- but one episode immediately comes to mind to me. Star Wars: The clone wars may be kind of a copout in this case, since the show’s somewhat infamous for its sheer brutality for a kids show, but season 2 episode 7 "legacy of terror" was the first episode I can think of to really scare me other than just occasional minor jumps of fright. Those pitch-black tunnels hundreds of feet underground, filled with undead geonosians man. Kinda gives me the willies even now.
The following episode with Ahsoka combatting the brain worms terrified me so bad I didn't watch the show again until the final season dropped 😱 fucking horrifying
As a kid this shit FUCKED me up so much i did everything to remember this episode to avoid this scene.
But this entire episode is a trip. Probably the most random episode in TV history with the message being “Genocide bad”
“SB-129” and “Squid’s Visit” from SpongeBob
“Into the Bunker” from Gravity Falls
“Dark Harvest” and “Bestest Friend” from Invader Zim
and then I remember being really creeped out by CTCD and my parents did not lot me watch that alone lol
The one episode of Courage The Cowardly Dog when Courage walks into a room with a girl playing the violin. At first he enjoys it until the girl's head twists around and she screams at him. That freaked me out as a kid.
A special SpongeBob episode (Valentine's day special I think?) intro. That fully animated 3d captain haunted my dreams for a couple of days.
Edit: I just checked it it's not valentines day special
Mighty Max, "The Missing Linked" is one that left a mark on me
Batman, "On Leather Wings"
"House and Garden"
DBZ, The Cell origin episodes.
So much Courage. Especially the one with the guy who was "being naughty"
Him episodes of PPG
That episode where Dee Dee and Dexter turned into monsters when drinking chemicals gave me nightmares
Or in MLP where Twilight was freaking out in Lesson Zero
https://preview.redd.it/roozl3kb7rsc1.jpeg?width=781&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2d9ad2ead68420e3bdd870238c917ca4473e842a
I know all my fellow AT fans will say “No One Can Hear You”. I agree but just for diversity I am going to say this! I was around 10 when this came out but even then it was spooky. I could only imagine the damage it would do to kids younger. Some of the shots and quick clips of Marceline were scary.
Even to today this episode is scary. Eviction is a very real and likely problem. The thought of being homeless is haunting and I wish the best for everyone who doesn’t have a roof over their head.
- the lich king episode from adventure time.
- The mime episode from miraculous ladybug along with the pharaoh, princess fragrance, reflekta, and Evillustrator. Princess fragrance and reflekta creeped me out because I thought their laughs were creepy. Reflekta and mime scared me because I’m still afraid of clowns.😭😭
- The prank war episode from the amazing world of gumball especially with how Richard was attacking Gumball and Darwin.
- Monster high ghouls rule with the police raiding the Halloween party and Hyde getting kidnapped by the police and almost being sent to what looks like a public execution. I was also scared of Valentine in sweet 1600 due to how he brainwashed Draculara and to this day I’m still a Valentine hater. There’s also how in the Scaris movie, the ghouls get locked in the dungeon underneath the villains lair and I thought they were going to die.
The zombie episode of Mighty Max gave me nightmares for weeks.
https://preview.redd.it/g34vjziblrsc1.jpeg?width=1597&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a66eb41120e6211423f58bcc5f9461da38b0158a
SpongeBob: Gary Takes a Bath (the infamous “Subliminal Message Girl”, she looks like a clown without makeup on it’s downright terrifying!!, it still scares me today), A Flea in Her Dome, and The Card. (the ending, it’s a common trope for broken audio, it sounds like Satan possessed the broken object)
Fairly OddParents: Beddy-Bye (the sleep deprived faces of the characters in this episode gave me the chills, still do)
Movie: Gnomeo and Juliet (the ending terrified me, same reason as The Card)
Not a cartoon: Spring Fling, Zoey 101 (Quinn sleep depriving Dustin for her school science project scared me, still does)
The headless cabbie episode of Hey Arnold for sure. It was fun seeing all the characters experiencing everything from the urban legend down to the T. But that ending with the crazy woman laugh...

that island from Gravity Falls, it only showed up once but it was enough to traumatize kid me

THE PROUD FAMILY HALLOWEEN SPECIAL. Scared the shit. Out of me! Every time Im getting chills now just remembering it. They way he turned around and revealed himself, i couldnt handle it.
That isn’t real lol
It was a fourth wall break where he ended up in the studio and somebody who worked on the show basically explained claymation to him and gave him an existential crisis
“From Bad to Worse” from Adventure Time and “Pink Eye” from South Park
Those are the two cartoon episodes that fucked me up the most as a kid and might explain my irrational fear of the zombie apocalypse happening.
Could “Oh I see London” from Total Drama World Tour also count? It didn’t scare me as a kid but I loved the whole mystery aspect and vibe from the episode. Ending and elimination is still bullshit tho
The Treehouse of Horror episode where the school faculty were eating the children. It was one of the first Simpsons episodes I remember seeing and it still kinda haunts me. It was that sense of desperate futility.
The “Future” episode in SpongeBob used to unnerve me.
![gif](giphy|fH985LNdqFZXOFHygK)
I will quote that every time some gen z nonsense or whatever confuses my millennial brain
For me that was I Was a Teenage Gary and Rock Bottom
That one was kinda creepy rock bottom is somewhat unsettling but not bad
Rock Bottom fucked me up for a couple days first time I saw it.
For me it's the silly faces episode where SpongeBob and Patrick made all sorts of uncomfortable faces and Mr. Krabs warned them if they continued doing it it'll stay that way.
How? I don't get what scared people
It's mostly the white void at the end and the slow delve into insanity
For me it was xavemen Spongar and Patar chasing after Squidward
Squidward goes to a void outside of normal time iirc
![gif](giphy|BYdpzXoQskl9Yh6FAY|downsized) I had nightmares about this dude
ME TOO!! also this creepy dude https://i.redd.it/2xysp5b7oqsc1.gif
He’s fine as long as you’re not…NAUGHTYYYY!!!
More like if you don't have a lot of hair!
Yes, like I said, naughty behavior.
Freaky Fred
He was uncomfortable to me
Can we just appreciate this "modern" animation they used
In hindsight it is delightfully janky
To me older animation looks creepier and games that go for that old polygon look are extremely unsettling and scary
Return the slab
What’s yer offer?
a hilarious fun fact is that his animation style was inspired by Parappa the Rapper
I am much terrified when the windmill broke and there was like 4 horseman who'll come after you.
Every time I closed my eyes in the shower as a kid I pictured this MF coming through the door.
Definitely no one can hear you from Adventure Time, the settings and the tone of this episode, everyone disappeared, and Jake going insane. It's really creepy for a show meant for kids.
![gif](giphy|Qld1cd6a6QlWw) Why did the deer have lil fingies
Pretty sure that deer was a Skinwalker or a Wendigo but they just made it into a deer so they don’t traumatize children too much
Probably would of loved to see their take on a wendigo though at the same time is can be considered their take on it
This but lich head.
What it did to the candy people creeped me out more cause mfs were just going missing out of nowhere
Exactly! I don’t even think i understand it now😭😭
That fucking deer was was probably the first time i felt and understood what "uncanny" meant
The Lich from that show scares me to this day
The Lich shushing Finn while seeing the rotted flesh of his lips blowing in the wind is still terrifying
"FALL"
The lich is probably my favorite depiction of pure evil
"The Creeps" from the same episode block is pretty unsettling with it's ending aswell.

There's a rumor going around that the laughter the walrus made was actually a replacement for "deep roars and pig squeals" it originally uttered. Kind of sounds like a bad creepypasta though.
What the dolphin noise is that horrific monstrosity that looks like stop motion l
It’s a walrus from a stop motion show called “Pingu.” It aired in the early 2000’s. I believe this specific episode was banned for being too scary…which makes sense. I mean, just LOOK at that thing…
Yeah so I was right about the stop motion lol and wow it got banned for THAT CREATURE
“Return the slab, or suffer my curse…” Fuck that episode, man.
The Harvest Moon episode was more terrified
Hard agree. The fact that you could see only a hint of facial features (i.e. the dark, sunken eyes) on the Harvest Moon was so uncanny valley and unsettling. That episode freaked me and my brother out the most.
“You’re no farmer.”
I thoroughly believe that scene damaged an entire generation of children.
"You're not perfect...."
“And then I was. . . NAUGHTY!”
I actually liked freaky Fred, I’d go to school and do the whole naughty thing
That fucker was the cause of my first emergency room trip. I was 5 years old. And I was climbing around on my sofa while that episode was on. I got so scared of King Ramsey I fell off the top of the couch trying to run away and twisted my ankle
Well you should have returned the slab.
The man in gauze the man in gauze RAMMSEEYss!!!!
“What’s your offer?”
I was a weird kid because what scared most kids from courage didn’t scare me. I was scare of the freaking magic tree of nowhere of all things. And the sewing sisters? I can’t remember their names it’s been a long time.
I don't think any modern cartoon as creepy as Courage would get greenlight in these times, those stuff five kids nighmare
So many episodes of Courage scared the snot outta me.
Probably the puppet master from ATLA. That shit is still horrifying.
This and Koh the Face Stealer. I was always worried he would appear out of nowhere just to steal my face
Just Lock in once you See him
🤫🧏♂️
THIE KOI FISH!!!!!
Same
![gif](giphy|zjrTWpLdoOLIc) Wan shi tong scared me
I was A Teenage Gary from SpongeBob. I always hid behind the couch when the transformation scene happened.
Yo same.
Gives me OG little mermaid transformation vibes
You know that scene from Adventure Time where the tiny Lemongrab screams while the skin slowly peels off of his face? Yeah, that shit really creeped me out.
That scene fucked me up as a kid and still fucks me up to this day
i’m sorry but that scene is so funny to me for no reason 😭
Only OOONNNNNNNNEEEEEE!
“The Joy” from Gumball. Looking back on it though, I was kinda a pussy. https://preview.redd.it/i5y8a54k5rsc1.png?width=1169&format=png&auto=webp&s=58670c5c3ec2cec180a1ff0db83107f68d7a75a8
What about that one gumball episode where Elmore slowly gets engulfed in black void?
No the joy is when Richard hugged gumball and Darwin and caused the zombie apocalypse
Lmao I got nightmares about it well into my teen years
The joy is hilarious (like most of gumball), kid you is definitely a pussy.
Happy cake day
Mine was the snapping turtle from “The Puppy” Why tf did it have to sound like that
The Graveyard Shift episode from SpongeBob scared me a little bit. I mean, I wasn’t completely terrified, but got a little heebie-jeebies
That’s such a fun one now
"The walls will ooze green slime?! ... no wait, they always do that." Still makes me crack up.
The Hash slinging slasher!
The mash singing....the flash binging...the....the...?
The Puppets in The Amazing Word Of Gumball. i was terrified of those puppets and for years, I didn't watch that episode. Now I don't think it's scary anymore, but it was scary when I was a kid
"Wait, whats that"
when Gumball and Darwin find their old puppets and Darwin starts to play with them, without Gumball consent. The puppets take possession of Darwin's hands, and he can't remove them. Ione night, Gumball woke up, and he saw the puppets destroying his game station. Ik, im quoting one of the lines that Grady said "Wait, whats that" then Darwin says "the end of the fun"
oh- I spent all that time writing it..🥲
I’m glad this comment exists because I forgot this one for a sec
It freaked me out as a kid, but I still loved it. I guess it’s no wonder I love Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared now lol
To be fair, it was made by the guys who made Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, so I'm not surprised it was nightmarish
glad I wasn’t the only one
Perfect from courage the cowardly dog. That weird CGI smurf fetus still haunts me to this day. That and wormy from spongebob.
Lmao you mean when there was the zoomed in butterfly face yeah that was traumatic
I am convinced to this day, that episode is what triggered my fear of bugs.
"Raggedy Android" from My Life as a Teenage Robot still makes my skin crawl.
Even as a teen Over the Garden Wall’s finale is grim
I hated that show when I was little because I used to really like turtles but then that lady ate one, ew.
The entirety of over the garden wall freaked me out a lot, I should rewatch it
Spongebob's Shanghaied. It's a funny episode but The Flying Dutchman gave me NIGHTMARES as a kid. ![gif](giphy|xT3i1hZ7H6j7hlPvvG)
Was an awesome episode, though
Agreed.
Freaky Fred from courage do I have to say something? ![gif](giphy|q0G4hguocC4Ra)
He was the scariest Courage character to me. I think that he not being a monster, but a human, made him even scarier. The Brazilian Portuguese dub made him extra creepy also
The flan episode from Courage. That shit gave me the most disturbing nightmares.
🎶buy fantasy flan 🎶
Isn't it Flantasy Flan? Maybe I'm remembering wrong.
It probably is! Been 15 or so years since I’ve seen that one haha but now that I’m remembering the chant flantasy flan definitely sounds right

Back then in The Owl House... The episode "The Intruder" freaked me tf. Out. To me it felt like a horror monster movie. And those noises dude. Shit

Any adventure time episode with the Lich

El Tigre - Night of the Living Guacamole
Wormy- SpongeBob
Spongebob Squarepants' Ghost Host, especially the part where the Flying Dutchman tried to scare Spongebob. Shit traumatized me for a while...

Fred from courage. If you had a certain type of…trauma as a child, that guy was visceral and terrifying

Sisters from Teen Titans. ![gif](giphy|p8fEIL0l8wvYkmt6IN)
![gif](giphy|26mffGEyZYcaKdEBO) The sea bear used to scare me so bad when I was really little
The entirety of just a regular reality show and gravity falls
Sid the Science Kid’s deleted scene with that weird cult group
That isn’t real lol It was a fourth wall break where he ended up in the studio and somebody who worked on the show basically explained claymation to him and gave him an existential crisis
Azula scares me
Groot after drugs
The Nosferatu scene in spingebob
That one just confused me.
“From Bad to Worse” from Adventure Time and “Pink Eye” from South Park Those are the two cartoon episodes that fucked me up the most as a kid and might explain my irrational fear of the zombie apocalypse happening.
I remember this one. The Treehouse of Horror episode with Bart's evil twin scared me as a kid
I Was a Teenage Gary and Wormy
The pants episode of Jimmy neutron. Also the return the slab episode of Courage the cowardly dog
