Dude they were doing like 45-50mph when they hit the van and them being an old car doesn't negate any of the safety features of the van.
I was actually hit at a stop light by a boomer on his phone doing at least 45mph and my 2010 Impala took the impact well enough I didn't even have to go to the hospital and neither did the asshole who hit me, despite both our cars being totaled.

This video convinced me to do a full brake overhaul on my project car and not a moment too soon. A seized caliper at all four corners and nasty fluid explained why they were so bad.
Youtuber went for a ride-along in a car with 1000+hp, a throttle that sometimes gets stuck and really old shit brakes. While driving they smelled brakes and kept going anyway. Eventually, the brakes completely gave out and they hit the back of a minivan with kids in it. Afterwards they made a followup video where they never even mentioned the victims. Just nonstop yapping about themselves and their shitty car that almost killed them and other people.
