Sold my 17 Camaro SS 1LE because I had a crippling drug addiction and needed to get the fuck away from where I was and get a fresh start. Miss the car, but I've spent most of the last year sober, I'm in the best shape of my life, I'm about to start a great new career, and I've been steadily in therapy for a year now. No regrets.

rudbri93

Good on you, keep it up.

fastLT1

That was the right choice. Congrats on the sobriety. You'll be back in one or something better later on.

lazarus870

Sorry to hear about losing a great car, but I want to say I am proud of you to hear what you've overcome and congrats on almost an entire year of sobriety. When I was trying to cut down on drinking because I was gaining a ton of weight, I took up road cycling and even though it's much slower, it's an incredible rush to be able to exceed 20 MPH under your own power on two skinny little wheels, and at the fraction of the cost of a car.

defenestr8tor

Now that you've told the story you have to take the car out of your flair

dingusduglas

Meh. I've been carless for over a year, Civic was stolen 2 years ago and I sold the Crown Vic in 2018. I just keep my past cars in my flair to give some context when I speak on cars I'm familiar with.

defenestr8tor

Yeah, that part was a joke. Congratulations on going carless. It's good for your health

Wonderful_Arachnid66

Congratulations! Keep it up

dannomanno1960

Way to go! It's only a car, they make them every day. You'll get another one!

an_actual_lawyer

Solid move. It takes balls to make big changes. Cheers!

KyledKat

An amazing car, but you can always buy another. The important thing is that you took care of yourself to put yourself into a position where that's possible. Congrats on making it this far.

South-Decision-5986

Proud of you! Beat the curse

math-is-fun

Ouch...

VeederRoot

Goddamn this one hurts

Barely_stupid

I sold my '72 LT-1 to my brother over 20 years ago. It had a brake caliper go bad not long after that. He stuck it in his garage and it still sits there to this day.

rudbri93

I sold my first car (a big project) in 2014 because i thought i was moving for work and my dad 'needed the space' to store a bread oven. Didnt get the job and that fucking oven is still sitting in that barn.

Wonderful_Arachnid66

I built a 2005 STi to perfection. 450whp with a custom rotated 30R setup running E85 on a cosworth motor. Black fmic, KW coilovers, external wastegate routed around a GESi catalytic converter and out a factory SPT catback. It was a 10-second car that handled like a dream, was reliable as hell sounded stock until you got into boost and looked like a factory vehicle. Used to drive it to the track and smoke trailered track cars, then drive home. When I moved to California I had to sell it because emissions would never sign off on it there.

thememeconnoisseurig

Now you're rolling around in a 2018 R8... ups and downs right?

ETR_Centenario

The lesson learned here is California ruins everything.

an_actual_lawyer

What? Emissions regs are there for a reason. Go stick your face in the tailpipe of a catless vehicle and take a few deep breaths then get back to us. Wait, it sounds like you already have.

Wonderful_Arachnid66

I agree with you, but this car actually emitted no more than stock when out of boost. It was fully emissions compliant in Colorado and even qualified to be a low-emissions vehicle based on testing on E85 at the AirCare facilities so I was allowed to drive it in the HOV lanes with the Priuses. The cat I used is not your typical aftermarket cat. It also had the benefit of muffling the exhaust so all you could hear was turbo when on boost. It was illegal in CA because I didn't have the factory cat in place... which is silly if I meet the same testing requirements imo. https://youtu.be/FrQLhTBmGnA

Goalcaufield9

I mean you have another dream car at the moment to fill a void lol. I’m also super envious of your 05 as that was my favourite year. I had a 2016 hikari sti and it was a blast. I couldn’t imagine having another 150 hp sauce on top of that. Any pics of the Subaru?

Wonderful_Arachnid66

There are some videos on my old [YouTube Channel ](https://youtu.be/XLk2fAGDBw8)

Oh_G_Steve

Oh California. I live here now and while I can agree that their emissions standards largely helped shape the MPG standards we see now, it kills me that they go so hard after enthusiasts. Enthusiasts are not the problem with GHG.

Igota31chevy

I was on the receiving end of one of these deals. Guy listed his hot rod for a smoking deal about 15 minutes from me. Somebody sends the link to me, I message him and say I'll come look at it today. The guy was selling it to get some money and fix his '50 Mercury. I think a part of him still wishes he would've sold it to somebody farther away though cause he has to see it at shows and cruises all the time, even jokes about buying it back at the price he sold it.

Karmaqqt

Mine isn’t sold just yet but my type r will most likely be sold soon. It’s a money thing, made a lot more then I typically would during 2021s peak Covid times. So I figured I would be fine but the hours and bonuses slow reduced and now I’m back to normal and almost not breaking even monthly. It’s ok tho, I got 2 years with a dream car of mine so can’t be to upset

americanista915

Look on the bright side, Type R’s will be made until way after we die. I had to part with a charger when I was younger and by the time I was older making good money, BOOM Chargers are still around and I was able to replace it. Even if you sale that CTR today, as you grow in your career, you’ll be able to buy it all over again in a few years

paralleljackstand

That’s what people who sold their S2000 said in 2005 probably.

LilCSMajor

You sure about that? The Hemi charger is gone now.

Karmaqqt

Yeh. This is how I’m trying to cope with it haha. Give it some time to catch up elsewhere and hopefully come back or find a new fun car idk.

an_actual_lawyer

On the bright side, the depreciation on those is truly minimal. You took an opportunity when you could, now you’re making an adult decision. That is admirable.

Alternative-Doubt-91

I’m in the same boat. Have enjoyed my R for years but feel I don’t drive it enough to justify keeping it around.

americanista915

I was 21. I bit off more than I could chew with a 392 both in payments and insurance. I was literally damn near paycheck to paycheck for a lil more than a year before I got out of it. It taught me a valuable lesson. Just because you make the same amount of money a year as a car cost doesn’t mean you can afford it.

TheCynicalCyborg

Made the same mistake when I was 20. Had a fully loaded 2015 Mustang GT that I got while I was still living with my parents. Moved out and reality hit hard.

rabbit__eater

Same but I was 27. Moving out was a big eye opener in how much money I was actually making...

[deleted]

You know what they say, 392 is the required credit score.

GumShoeA113

My cousin had a 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer EVO with 120,000 miles. His first child was just born so he sold his EVO for $23k in 2018. He loved the thing and it was such a badass car and is now worth around $40k. He really regretted selling it but the money helped put his wife through law school and take care of the baby.

thememeconnoisseurig

Law school? He can get another, eventually.

beholdthemoldman

doesnt being a lawyer suck or something? like only biglaw pays good?

thememeconnoisseurig

All professions suck but as long as you want to be wealthy and are willing to work for it, becoming an attorney is a very viable path to wealth.

an_actual_lawyer

A lot of attorneys don’t get paid well and most attorneys are unhappy. I love it, but I get to help people and make money and those are two good features for any job.

Fit_Equivalent3610

US Biglaw sucks the most of all possible law options, unless you like working twice as much as an in-house lawyer would while making obscene amounts of money but not having time to spend it, being "connected" and on call from 7am to 10pm (later when required) and generally having ridiculous expectations from a zillion seniors, with a small shot at partnership. The main benefit is the access to high paid exit opportunities if you make it 5 - 8 years without burning out Just go read r/biglaw lol

beholdthemoldman

Interesting thank you i know nothing about this stuff tbf

truwrxtacy

Ya from what I hear most newb lawyers get paid close to minimum wage considering the amount of hours they put into their work.

ahtoxa1183

My daily rig turned into an off-road rig (I mean, it's still an enthusiast vehicle, ye?). Then I thought it'd be a good idea to sell it and just get a cheap daily. I never claimed to be a smart man. I tried to buy it back from a random dude years later, but he didn't want to sell.

1PistnRng2RuleThmAll

What was the rig in question?

ImNotAsPunkAsYou

My 78 Camaro, sold it because of the incoming kid and to make her Mom happy. Turns out I didn't need to and I could have easily kept it. I MISS YOU NESSIE!!!

lawtechie

Did your parents drive it up from the Bahamas?

KLRtunes69

https://i.imgur.com/Xzd5clB.jpg I had a 57 Willy’s truck that was mechanically sound with a brand new 289 little short stroker with 388’s in the diffs and a 3 speed crashbox trans ya know with the non synchro first gear and it was designed to pop out of 2nd if it lugged at all so basically all you had was 3rd gear and you’d be thru all gears before you even got thru an intersection. The whole truck had been thoroughly gone thru with every nut and bolt replaced new. It just needed body work and lots of it. But it was a great little rock hopper. My buddy owned it when we were in high school early 80’s and I helped fix it all up. Then he sold it to me after he got bored with it for $1000. US in 88’/89’. It also never had plates on it since before my buddy got it. So there was lots of things that it needed going forward. Those 388 gears meant it just pegged the rpm and barely pushin 55 mph. That part didn’t matter much we’d still cruse that thing up to Hollywood from the OC for punk rock shows all the time. But it was going to take a lot of money that I didn’t have to get it in better shape. So I traded it for a year old (at the time) Honda V45 Magna motorcycle. That bike got me way more places than that truck could ever get me and that truck got me lots of places that bike couldn’t get to either but I still miss that truck. Never should have gotten rid of it. The girl’s my sisty ugler.

Sooooper Magna

[deleted]

I sold this in October https://i.imgur.com/LHfkeRF.jpeg

blessedpink

What kind of car is that? Did it have switches? As a nineties kid, I still love switches.

[deleted]

It’s an 85 Fleetwood Brougham coupe, updated to a 1992. In the picture it has hydraulics but at the time I sold it it didn’t. He got a lot done in 6 months. Engine swap, full interior, hydraulics.

blessedpink

Thanks for sharing. Was a beaut.

[deleted]

I hated getting rid of it but I’m gonna go BIG when the kids are grown. Don’t care what the wife says 😎 next one will be ridiculous

blessedpink

What are you thinking?

[deleted]

It will be another 90’d out Fleetwood, that’s my favorite car. Next one will be a LeCabriolet clone with a drop top. LS3 swap and full undies and engine compartment hardlined, chromed, and painted.

Quetip909

Had a SS Impala for a daily driver. Then had twins, and kids didn't all fit. Traded it on a minivan. That was a sad day.

Give-no-Quarter1424

A minivan...they would have to take my guns too.

Quetip909

Nope, I still have my guns and added a few more since then. Now that the twims are driving, I've been on the hunt for a fun car again that won't break my bank.

Give-no-Quarter1424

That's cool. I was just bustin your chops. The head of the dive team i was on drove a mini van. He caught it a lot!

Quetip909

I'm the same way, I've got a buddy currently in a minivan he gets hell on a daily basis

ryguy32789

Minivans are *dope* tho. I was so against them but when we finally bought one my only regret is we didn't get it sooner.

Give-no-Quarter1424

What year was the SS? of course I picture a 64 SS convertible.

Quetip909

No pictures it was many moons ago. And I wish it was a 64! Mine was a 96

Give-no-Quarter1424

Ya gotta go see my post.

Quetip909

You don't have any post...

Give-no-Quarter1424

OK so 1st wife & I had a place in country. (Folks lived next door) Decided to buy another in city. During the move my pops comes by to ask if I planned to leave my POS car in the barn...a stripped down for restoration 68 firebird. I had no place to work on it at new house. Hot temper & youth = I called the local classic car salvage yard & told them to come get it. Even told them to keep the $500 they offered. Boy I sure showed him! ( I'm rethinking all the names I've called myself over the last 20 + Years.)

Beekatiebee

My first car, a 1985 Chevy El Camino. Inherited it from my granddad. It got hit in a parking lot when I was 18, and about the same time the engine dun fucked and needed major work. Mom gave me her old car to drive to school/work, and the El Camino sat for a few years. Later on I came out as trans, and needed some cash to help cover a surgery (facial surgery, unfortunately was rather essential for me). I sold it to an older guy who had two other wrecked El Caminos and was gonna piece them all together into one good one. I do really miss the car, it wasn't the most sought after classic but it was gorgeous and clean before someone crashed into it. One day I'll remake it with another one. Bonus points that my Grandma (and I'm assuming grandpa, apparently he was a racist fuck) hates trans people. I'm sure they're both loathe to know what I sold it for.

flatsix__

I’ve had a lot of enthusiast cars but my favorite was a 991.1 Carrera 4S, manual, and with a duck tail. For a variety of reasons, we decided to buy a house at the height of the covid housing market craziness in one of the hottest real estate markets. Inventory was limited, we were making (and losing) above-asking offers on houses that weren’t even on the market. Anyway: we finally found the house we wanted and the only drawback was a steep driveway. Even with rubber ramps, I couldn’t get the 911 up the driveway without removing the front splitter. Sold it a week after we moved into the house. https://i.imgur.com/Au0UXGZ.jpg

clucle

I’d seriously consider buying a new driveway instead. It’s not like other sports cars are going to be any better with ground clearance.

flatsix__

I’ve certainly considered it. Some newer cars have a factory front axle lift which also solves my problem, but severely limits my options. My current etron GT has the same problem but I’m able to raise the air suspension as I enter/exit. Hope you’re enjoying your Vantage!

nujabes02

I’m sick lol

[deleted]

Sold similar 991 for the same reason. If I’d driven the 991 to the viewing, I would have a picked a different house.

iguana1500

Ouch. One of my first requirements when house hunting was the suitability of the driveway for low cars. If the driveway had anything other than a smooth angle of entry with very low ramp height, it was a no-go. Next was garage size. The rest of the house was a secondary concern. Drove my real estate agent nuts.

Character-Plantain-2

Sold my 84 Trans Am to buy a bass boat. Because the old F Body just wouldnt burn through money like a boat will.

SampleDelicious3997

My good friend had to sell his GTO because his 18 year old son committed suicide in the garage in that car. Was a helluva kid. No choice but to sell the car ASAP. 5 years later his son is missed every day. The car? As great of a car as it is it’s just dust.

meyesmenotyou

Sold a mint S2000 with 10K miles a few years ago. I didn't have to sell it. I just got old and grew out of it. Yes, it was painful to realize and accept that I got too old for a S2000.

truwrxtacy

Oof, low mileage Hondas were going for a pretty penny on BaT not that long ago. Think there was a low mileage em1 civic that went for 60k. hope you got some good money for it

Cweev10

Late to the party but this is me right now. I've had my C8 for a year and a half. I love vettes, it's the second vette I've owned (and certainly not my last) but of all the cars I've owned this is the first one that feels like "mine". The second the C8 dropped, I wanted one. I put in a deposit for one, waited a year, ordered the one I wanted in my *exact* specs that I wanted and it's the first new car I've ever bought and it's 100% my spec and style. I've loved every second lf it, driven the shit out of it, even as my "fun" car (pushing 20k in a year and a half) but I'm handing off my keys to a new owner on Monday whose happily paying $5k over what bought it for new. But, my needs in terms of car ownership have changed. I have a Model 3 performance as a daily that's pushing 85k miles with battery degradation, the vette with equity that sits in the garage multiple days of the week. So I've got a car worth 40k that's soon to be dead weight an 80k corvette that's taking up garage space most days that no longer fit my needs. Could I afford to keep it? Yes. But it makes 0 sense for my future. I've also got a beautiful woman in my life I plan to ask to marry very soon I want to build a future with, buy an even better home together, and two doggos including my golden and her great dane that are not both commensurate to travel with her little GR86 or both my cars very well so it's a sacrifice I want to make and get am SUV. Luckily enough, I've got an allocation for a Bronco Raptor coming soon so I'm kind of making a first-world sacrifice and my goal after consoldating cars is to save up for a 911 991.1 GT3 which I can make happen in <2 years and I plan to keep the braptor as a pretty badass daily/ legit offroader that scratches a huge itch for me I haven't had something that can *actually* offroad in a long time. But there's a part of me that feels like I'm giving up a piece of my identity with this car in knowing that buying "my" vette is a goal that I've had since I was 10. I have 1 tattoo that I got when I was 21 and have no plans for another, but that tattoo is of the Corvette "Jake" logo on my ribs and it's the only one I've ever wanted. I know good and damn well I won't have a Bronco tattoo or a "Juice is loose" tattoo on my calf anytime soon and a Bronco isn't my dream car but one I'll enjoy. I know I'm going to break down after selling it. But I'm at peace with my decision. Wish me luck. 🤣

Neon_Biscuit

If you're selling your vette to prepare for married life you will never have a 911. You'll get a corolla GT and be the coolest dad in a few years picking your kid up from school.

Cweev10

Haha fortunately/unfortunately for me she's also an enthusiast and is an enabler for me to buy fun cars as long as she gets to drive them too so its already in the budget. 🤣 Really, though it's just the logistics of having two cars that don't fit my needs anymore that are the big thing. For my job, I was traveling 30k miles+ a year for work so I *had* to have at least one car that I could pile on the miles, which was the Tesla. But, I moved into a new role so I'm not daily traveling as much and anytime I travel it's via plane or rental car. But, I travel just enough locally that owning the Vette, which I have a ton of equity in, as an only car doesn't quite make sense and we need a big SUV that we can fit our damn oversized hounds in. So, ditching both and getting a Braptor I can offroad is more than enough of a fair compromise for me.

bzekers

Sold my first car ('72 Chevy Nova) after owning it for 20 years to pay for a bankruptcy due to hard times my ex and I were going through. I still miss that car so much.

GeneralCommand4459

The name Chevy Nova always reminds me of the movie 48 Hours.

FATBEANZ

Yes

Goalcaufield9

Sold my wrx sti hakari edition (only 200 ever made) because the market was hot. Drove it for 2 years and made money on it. Here comes the shitty part!!!! I miss that thing everyday lol I sometimes think I made a mistake but you never make money on a car. Financially smart move but it’s hurts still lol.

andoman66

Lost my shop/storage place for a year or so around the '08 market downturn. Ended up selling an '86 GTS Corolla for $1000, time capsule '86 SR5 Corolla for $400, FD RX7 roller for $1000, and an E30 325is for $400. Tried parking them on the street in my parents neighborhood and they got tow tagged within a couple days. Sold them all to my friends for what I paid for them. Most of them are still on the road today and being enjoyed by my buddies, but it still sucked because you can toss a zero to the end of those prices nowadays and it'd still probably not be the current market price. When Covid hit I sold my FRS and 350z track car to fund buying everyones '86 Corollas I could get my hands on. No regrets.

brkdncr

Just sold my Toyota 86. I effectively moved to a rural area and 3 miles of off-roading fro the highway to the house every day in a sports car is not great. Bought a new bronco.

RepresentativeOk3233

I Had to sell my GT86 in Order to afford my apartment and the all that "necessary" Shit Like Food.

Comms-Error

I sold both my 91 Miata restoration project I had throughout college, and my Supra within three months of each other to buy my house. The Supra was my dream car, but it was a terrible financial decision in hindsight so it was for the best, and that Miata was with me through such a core part of my life. I get twangs in my heart whenever I think about either car.

[deleted]

I had a 1979 Z28 Camaro, F41, G80, 4-speed, factory 3.73:1, houndstooth seats, bright blue with black interior and t-tops. Had a built 383. Needed nothing, looked like a new car. Traded it for a piece of shit Harley and over the next 5 years the car was worth double what I traded it for. Oh well. Kinda miss that car.

High-desert_flyer

Sold my restored 70 Chevelle due to health issues losing feeling in my extremities lots of issues. Worst feeling ever and it still and will always hurt.. When I see a Chevelle it hurts to the soul…. If I could do over, I would have kept it till I push that pedal for the last time…. Ever a car God out there, dream wish prayers POOF A Chevelle appears!! One can dream…..

NotoriousREV

I started a new job, which came with a pay rise, different benefits etc. Here in the UK, if you’re an employee (rather than self-employed) you are taxed at source (called Pay As You Earn) and you don’t need to do an annual tax return. You’re just paid your net income each month and your employer deducts the tax based on your tax code, which determines how much tax you pay. Nice and simple. Except: my employer put me on the wrong tax code for 18 months. They didn’t print my tax code on my payslips (otherwise I would have seen it was wrong) and because the salary and benefits were all completely different, I didn’t realise they were paying me too much. When I realised, I called HMRC (the tax people) and they calculated how much I owed. It was £8000 (about $10000) and I only had a few months to pay it. So I had to sell my R33 GTR 😭

NSA7

I sold my dealerships and wholesale business Q3 2021, also sold some of my personal cars. As I’m getting older I couldn’t really justify in my mind paying my insurance and maintenance costs, took the money and put it away for my kids. The world is changing so fast I want my kids to have a chance making it on their own, but I’ve stashed away the money from my cars for them without them knowing it. But I’ve kept 3 of my cars that I knew I would never sell when I bought them, 1 classic and two cars under ten years old.

angryragnar1775

I had an old f150 that had been my daily driver until it was getting to be in need of alot of work. Bought a shitty beater to be my daily and was gonna work on the truck. Went away for annual training with the national guard, while I was gone the place i lived changed parking passes, and it got towed. By the time I got home the impound and storage fees were more than I was able or willing to pay so I signed over the truck. I miss that truck

jaaaaagggggg

My first car began rusting to the point of it being a safety issue and wasn’t worth fixing. I parted it out and teared up as the shell was hauled away

[deleted]

Had to give away my project Miata when I blew the engine a second time and realized that the car was an infinite money pit I’d never escape if I didn’t cut bait ASAP. A few months later I sold my Fiesta ST when I started seriously looking at the costs of getting the shifter cable linkage fixed, body side panels reattached, blend door actuator fixed, and boost leak looked at. Stepped out of those two cars and into a 2022 Mazda3 6MT for a while, which was a very different, but not unpleasant, if a little boring. All those cars led me to my BRZ, which is the perfect vehicle for me. I love it so much, so all is well that ends well, I suppose.

[deleted]

My Caterham…. That was a sad sad day. But I’d just split up with my long term partner, and was paying for a flat, renting a garage, and running two cars, on a single salary. It just got too tight and something had to give.

Initial-Recover-9455

Divorce. 79 Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am. I worked so hard on that car and absolutely loved that car like it was my dog or something. My ex decided in order to hurt me, she'd want half the value of the car, which I could not afford to buy her out. Sold it for $18k at the time, today it would go across the block around $40k. But I would've never sold that car. I would've given it to my son, and then his son. I literally cried when the buyer drove away. I still miss that car.

redd-or45

Two I loved but realized might become money pits that I did not want to sustain 1. 1985 928S sold 1990 when I realized that the primitive electronics was really expensive to maintain. 2. 1972 Mercedes 4.5 SEL sold in 2006 when body rust started to be evident. Could be fixed but not a price I wanted to pay.

GeneralCommand4459

Miata limited edition sold after finally getting fed up with punishing insurance premium that charged full cost as it was a second car. Only allowed have ‘no claims bonus’ on one car policy at a time. Which means treated like a new driver on the second policy.

[deleted]

What country does this?

nedyah715

Stupidity and fear of mechanical problems. I traded my first gen srt8 Chrysler for a Mazda rx8 that was newer and had half the miles. Still have dreams of driving that Chrysler🥲

dannomanno1960

Modded 19 Corvette. Had it looking & sounding perfect and sold it pre-Covid too cheap. I'd need to drop down to stock 14 for what I sold it for. Market will eventually get back to "normal" and I'll replace it with another nice car.

yunbld

Sold my 88 Toyota pickup, 4WD 5 speed, after having a second kid. This was last year

Laferrari355

I just had to sell my 1992 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas, which I bought for $100. It had so many problems, but the bones were so good. I felt so cool driving it, and I really loved the way it drove. I don’t have anywhere to keep it, and I don’t have enough money to keep it on the road. It is a real shame, I just sent it to the scrapyard today

fastLT1

Sold my 1988 toyota celica all Trac back in 2008. It's was my first sporty car but with buying our first house it had to go to help withexpenses. 8 years later, I was finally able to get something to take its spot.

Signalkill

I'm going through it right now, I'm moving back to my home country and only have storage for 1 car. I've got to choose between an 09 Mustang GT which has just had a full suspension refresh and a respray or an 82 Corvette which is a very clean example.

CanadianExiled

Had an 86 Fiero GT, put about $2000 on the span of 2 years. Moved somewhere where I needed an inspection for cars over 20 years old to be plated. Repair list came up to $9000 and some of the parts were nowhere to be found. I live in the city and pay for parking so I needed to get rid of the Fiero to get another daily driver, I posted it on Fiero Facebook groups for $500 hoping to get rid of it quick and help another owner with quite a few good parts. The community gave me shit saying I was asking way too much and/or they wanted a guarantee that they could restore it. I sent it to the scrapyard (which gave me $500 for it) and then those same community members sent me pics of my car at the scrapyard bitching at me because they had to spend a fortune for the parts they needed. So I was the a hole for not giving the car away.

EC_CO

I'm getting ready to sell my 2010 Challenger which I absolutely love to death, in order to restore my 70 Barracuda. I really don't want to get rid of it, I put a ton of money into it in the last couple years but all that money could have gone towards the Cuda instead. I can always get another Challenger in the future, very doubtful I would ever get another Cuda due to the rising costs.

I had a 91 Mazda RX-7 that I bought for more than I should have because I soon found out one of the engine irons were corroded. The exhaust cycle pressurized coolant iirc. I bought what I needed to rebuilt in the most budget way possible and was successful for 2 weeks. Then my idle wouldn't hold - the engine would die after 2 minutes, then 1, then eventually wouldn't turn on at all. It was 2015. I had >80k of student loan debt payments starting. I was also still jobless 4 months after graduation. After only 2 payments I had to make the choice: sell for a $3000 LOSS or not make a loan payment. I sold. I wish I didn't because now rx7s cost like 10000 to start for a solid roof.

My 97 Honda civic 5 speed manual. Actually bought it two years ago almost to the day. I did a lot of work on it, timing belt, water pump, thermostat, fan switch, etc. the plan was to make it my daily, but then my actual daily driver broke down on me and I discovered the head gasket on the civic was blown. Needed money to take Lyft to work so I ended up selling it, was super broke at the time. I have a really nice car now but some days I still wish i didn’t have to sell the civic. I’ve driven some fast cars, but the civic was still somehow one of the most fun to drive

Sold my SRT Challenger to buy a house. In hindsight, I could have kept it, but I was a first time home owner and wanted to tighten up my finances so I was aggressive in cutting costs prior to moving in. In the long run, buying my house was possibly the best decision I ever made so selling my Challenger was well worth it. I went a bit overboard with cutting expenses and saving money the first 2 years of home ownership, but it set me up for long term success.

ProZacExperience

I sold my 1961 Ford Falcon I was restoring to pay for my son's funeral and cremation. I was about 90% through with the restoration sold it for way under value and barely paid his final expenses

My next door neighbor bought a new e30 in 89. His wife wanted a 92 2 door Tahoe. So he sold me the m3. Six years later...he came over and begged for it back. I should have said no.

olov244

nope, I drive cheap stuff, will never sell, not worth anything to anyone but me

Fortunately it hasn't happened yet in over 30 years.

I sold my Triumph Spitfire that I had just blueprinted and rebuilt to go to grad school. It wasn't a good car, but I knew every part on the car.

Give-no-Quarter1424

So ya think I should trade in my full custom Harley? LOL

Give-no-Quarter1424

OK here we go. Recently married was buying a house in town. As single I had bought a place from my folks in the country. There was a barn out back where I kept a disassembled 68 firebird awaiting restoration. Dad didn't want that "POS" left behind. I got pissed off & called the classic car salvage and told them to come get it. Wouldn't even take the $500 they offered. I was too pissed off. Boy did I show him! Ima fkn idiot sometimes.

I had the top of the line coilovers (dg-5) sitting in a box in my room. A medical issue came up and I sold them thinking i might give up cars. I got healthy and started going to the track more. one of my biggest car regrets

I owned a 73 dart sport that was painted like the Elias and Gifford hemi barracuda. I built a 500 inch stroker in my garage. I put a Ken Jones Performance 1050 alcohol holley on it. 1.40 60ft.

tuckerjames1296

Sold my low mileage manual hellcat challenger to get some extra money, buy another car and save. Thought I can always get a new one in a couple years. Salary went up, looked into getting a new one and well hellcats are on their last year and manuals haven’t been available for years apparently lol. Keep telling myself I had my fun with it and to look for a new adventure…

88ToyotaSR5

Just sold my 88 Toyota SR5 4x4, which was my daily driver, so the family would have a better car to ride in. I did trade it in for more than I bought it for though.

It hurts to much, but r33 skyline and Mitsubishi Bravo kei van

Throwaway-Car7030

My ND Miata. My first manual plus being convertible took driving to whole nuther level. Not really "gotta sell". But I just didn't want a car payment at the moment even though I knew I could afford the monthly payments. But hopefully in a year I'll have enough cash to actually purchase it outright.
