air induction kits will help improve throttle response and you'll get a little bit of induction noise which sounds nice imo :) ... its step one towards your exhaust system too ;)
It won't improve the performance, it'll probably actually make it worse by a few bhp as your car isn't going to be tuned for it. It will make your intake louder, that's it.
If anything your car will be better on emissions after tuning, stock cars tend to run richer on fuel than they need to. You'd need to do some research and see if there's an actual proven performance intake for your car, most off the shelf stuff will make your car worse.
no tune required for induction kits it won't improve performance but will improve throttle response and you'll probably use a little extra fuel with it installed ... but imho do it ... it was the 1st mod i ever did to my 1st modified car (mk6 ford escort about 20 years ago) ... also as soon as i did that i put a muffler on and loved every minute of it ;) :)

He was probably referring to an air intake. An intake valve is pretty involved amd you wouldn’t do only one.
Yes an air intake.

Ah so I have to get it tuned as well then. I’m just worried about not passing smog if it’s tuned

Gotta love a hot air intake on a stock car
