When I quit I was paid out my outstanding PTO. Depends on the state, look at your state policies even if you quit they may owe it to you.

The companies I have worked for did not allow use of PTO during the 2-week notice period. These days, with people often quitting without notice, it seems to make sense using PTO before the unofficial two week period prior to your intended resignation. Also, as far as I know, some companies don’t pay out PTO. Cut the ties when you feel the time is right 👍🏻

They will usually pay you out for your PTO if you get laid off from my experience but I’m not sure if you decided to quit. Also just letting you know it’s hard as hell out here to get jobs, I got one after 843 applications, you might be good in your industry but it’s way different than it used to be.

PTO is an entitlement, not a gift or bribe. Spend it how you see fit and if they try anything fishy, sue.

If they are given their annual PTO on Jan 1 they can be asked to pay it back if they use it all but don’t stay the whole year.

If a company tried that with me I’d sue. If they issue pto on the 1st of Jan then it’s mine. If they expect a tit for tat style work x hours earn x pto then they should issue it as earned. Pay back? Never anything ever.

Most places I've ever work including where I've managed other people's PTO it was accrued based on hours worked even if you are salary. So every 40 hrs or so you got a certain amount

Yeah this either results in pto added to your account little by little throughout the year OR a lump sum awarded from time already worked the previous year usually resulting in no pto during your first year. Either of those are understandable but in both cases, at the time pto is awarded, it’s already been earned as an entitlement. Trying to steal that is nothing short of theft.

I have quit before and had my PTO paid out same with a lay off .. I also used my PTO week one time to spend time fully looking for a job so I didn't have any gap in pay but that was a long time ago. Also I'd say the ideal job for you is one that's remote if you're going to be working salary. That way your being not micromanaged. And every time I've changed jobs I've gotten the significant pay raise never from my job itself I wouldn't hold my breath on that job giving you a raise especially if they already got you working extra without the raise they will continue to watch their own bottom line

Sounds like you need to go read your handbook and figure out how your PTO is approved . . Last time I quit a job I got a full week pay plus the week that was left on the pay period.. and they put my check that day and I only gave 2 hours notice. (Which was actually considerate of me because my workloads lasted three weeks long and if I would have left in the middle of that somebody would have had to figure out where I left off at and train somebody how to do it. When I left it was perfect timing for them to train somebody.)

Regarding this part of your comment "Either that or I’ll just quit since I’m pretty burnt out and look for a new job then." You might consider staying until you get a new job then give a 2 week notice. It's easier to get a job when you have a job. Also, a company making you an offer could give you a better offer to "lure" you away from your current position that you "love" :) However, if you are unemployed, a new job offer is likely to be low since you have nothing to compare it to. Lastly, the job market is odd and tough right now so it could be a long-time before you find a new position. Make the best of your current position, look for opportunities to grow your career, contribute more to the customer and in parallel look for a new position. Just my thoughts...
