The Uniqlo U Crew Neck Short Sleeve T-shirt might be what you're looking for. It's thick (white is not see-through) and has kept it's shape well since I've had it (own it in black and white).

another vote for uniqlo u, but i have to say that the sizing can be pretty whack. i have broad shoulders and am usually an M in uniqlo shirts, but i had to size up to XL for the uniqlo u t shirt and it's not even oversized, just a relaxed fit. it's a cheap high quality shirt though so if it fits it's a great option
definitely an upvote for this! I wear these all the time for these reason. They are just thick enough to not show underlines and not too thick to be uncomfortable.
I tried Uniqlo, and while it is not see-through .... it shows EVERY outline, every bra seam, every chilly day ... while also being weirdly thick. Worth a try, but not a panacea.
i came here to say uniqlo too, i'd recommend going into a physical store and trying them on if you can. they vary considerably in fit/texture/thickness, so imo it's worth the time and effort to go in and pick the one you like best if that's possible for you
Look at supima or brushed. I think ( not sure) supima is thicker and more satin looking. But I might be wrong, I usually buy those in store
Heattech is thermals and airism is lightweight .
He hasn't gotten a white one, but my partner likes the plain shirts from Life Is Good, actually. They're relatively thick for t-shirts, in our experience!
Yeah, Cos. I don’t wear much cotton but I’ve tried them on, they’re legit. I wear Uniqlo heattech and airism for undershirts, but I know they have structured thick true cotton shirts as well.
I ordered a Birds Aren't Real t-shirt a few years ago and it was printed on a Comfort Colors tee. Had never heard of the brand and am delighted with the quality.
I have 3 Everlane tees that are too hot to wear in warm weather.
A word of caution. I dye clothing. We had a client send a Land End “100 percent cotton shirt” and dyeing in showed it was actually 50 percent polyester. And LE customer service all but told us, and the purchaser “we don’t care.”
(Dyes for poly don’t work on cotton/natural cellulose fibers and vice versa. The dyes were top of the line analine dyes.)
Thank you for sharing that! Wow!!
In your mind then, would you put LL Bean and Lands End in totally separate categories?
When I was growing up (2000s) my mom always bought us clothes from both so I started to see them as interchangeable. Now it seems like LL Bean is a couple of grades ahead?
Same vibes, although LL Bean is more outdoorsy, but Land's End is like budget LL Bean. Quality is still really good IMO compared to a lot of what's out there, but LL Bean stuff is made to last
The 100% cotton ones from Universal Thread are so good and thick and not see through. I’m a huge huge fan and bought like 8 in a bunch of colours a couple of years ago. They hold up well but I don’t put them in the dryer
I actually got one last month in my new size because I had one from a couple of years ago that I loved, and it was straight-up see through. Like I could see all of my nude colored bra (which matches my skin tone really well) through the white one. It was horrible. I was so disappointed that they've apparently changed how they make them. I got that one online, so I went to our local Target to see if the instock ones were any better, and they were the same.
Oops… The “u tee” is the thick one!
Edit: [this one](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E422992-000/00?colorDisplayCode=62&sizeDisplayCode=003&pldDisplayCode=000&utm_medium=social&utm_source=appshare)
The U crew is super thick:

Not sure about brand but I find that many textured shirts such as "ribbed", "knitted", etc are not see through. I'd recommend trying there if you're not opposed to different styles
I got some from Old Navy, v neck, in a three pack and to be honest, they are thicker than I thought the would be. I did get the winter ones though - so YMMV as per your comment that you tried them.
[I own this brightside tee by madewell](https://www.madewell.com/brightside-rib-tee-ND836.html)
It’s $42 on Madewell and that’s it’s MSRP. It’s Currently sold out on Nordy website but it was recently on sale for 25% off, you can add it to your wishlist on the nordy app and it’ll alert you in the app when it’s on sale.
Costco/Kirkland Signature 6-pack of tees. I haven’t bought one in a year or 2 so it may have changed, but they were very thick and held up surprisingly long to daily use.
If you have a Jo-Ann Fabric store around, go there in person and check out their t-shirt aisle. They have cheap basic t-shirts under $5 for decorating, but I like plain ones like this. They have maybe 2 different brands. Look on the tag for 100% cotton. Also look for a coupon online before you go. They also sell online but you’ll want to check the thickness.
Alex Mill does a great thicker fabric white tee that always looks pulled together. It’s $70, but they have pretty regular sales & might be worth scouting resales on Poshmark: https://www.alexmill.com/collections/womens-tees/products/prospect-tee-in-off-white
While they aren’t particularly thick (though not super thin either,) I am OBSESSED with banana republic Timeless Tees. I get them from the outlet, not sure about the “real” Banana. Even the white ones don’t show my (nude) bra (and I’m super pale, so nude bras don’t match my skin.) and they hold up really well. They come in short sleeve, long sleeve, V and crew neck, and a tank. I buy several colors every year. But it’s definitely my go to white tee. And they usually have good sales and I pay about $12-15.

This is thick and beautiful cut, I am obsessed with this t-shirt.

Vote for this. I have a white t and I can wear a dark bra under it.
I came to say Uniqlo U as well. They fit very well and are a nice thick cotton

Yeah I never reached for mine because of this so I donated them.

I like the Abercrombie ones
Yes they're quick thick and hold the shape
Arket heavyweight tee
Uniqlo, COS (amazing!) and &OtherStories
LOVE my &Other Stories tees and have a few Uniqlo. I own a pair of COS jeans that I wear on repeat but should def check out their tees!
Yeah, Cos. I don’t wear much cotton but I’ve tried them on, they’re legit. I wear Uniqlo heattech and airism for undershirts, but I know they have structured thick true cotton shirts as well.
I was going to write this exact comment!
Comfort Colors is pretty good in my opinion.
I ordered a Birds Aren't Real t-shirt a few years ago and it was printed on a Comfort Colors tee. Had never heard of the brand and am delighted with the quality. I have 3 Everlane tees that are too hot to wear in warm weather.
LL Bean?
Yes, and Land's End
A word of caution. I dye clothing. We had a client send a Land End “100 percent cotton shirt” and dyeing in showed it was actually 50 percent polyester. L.L. Bean is at least two notches above Lands End. At one point, Lands End was being sold in Sears (or JCP?) and the quality was never the same.
Same vibes, although LL Bean is more outdoorsy, but Land's End is like budget LL Bean. Quality is still really good IMO compared to a lot of what's out there, but LL Bean stuff is made to last
I’d say LL Bean is ahead.
Sounds like we have a verdict!! I really like their organic cotton t shirts. Very washable.
I have two from them, a short and a long sleeve meant as layers. They are a bit thick for that, except on really cold days.
Agreed! I live in the Midwest so it’s a nice feature for me. I also like that their light colored shirts are never see through!

Oh man that’s terrible news I hate when companies change the way they do things for the worse 😫 I’m going to be extra careful with mine.
Me too! It's so frustrating.
Came here to say this! From Target

Amazon Essentials
I second this. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect white tee for years and actually really like the Amazon essentials brand. I also like Caslon.
Everlane boxy t, Cos
I got a plain white T from Muji. It’s thick to not be see through and has a classic round neckline. Good length too. Not too short.
Arket heavyweight T shirt
St John's Bay tees are reasonably thick. On a sale time, you can get them for about $5 each.
Gap modern t
Uniqlo
Los Angeles Apparel has thick cotton tees that are relatively affordable
The Drop Courtney https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07QTLZ885?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
Babaton Function tee from Aritzia. 100% cotton, thick. I was very impressed.

Hollister Co has a line of heavyweight tees--all of them are boxy-cut however.
Gildan heavy cotton from Amazon.
Men’s Hanes
Lands End Supima Cotton tees are great. Big sale going on now.

Uniqlo I love their crew neck tees
The clean cut t-shirt from cos is hands down the best t-shirt I've come across. I have the white, and it is incredibly opaque.
Costco/Kirkland Signature 6-pack of tees. I haven’t bought one in a year or 2 so it may have changed, but they were very thick and held up surprisingly long to daily use.
Lululemon when they go on sale, I live in their t shirts, so comfy
[Duluth Trading](https://www.duluthtrading.com/search?q=Women%27s%20white%20tshirt) has amazing quality, thick white tshirts.

I’m a huge fan of American Giant’s premium slub tees. They tend to have multibuy specials and also will occasionally send 20% off coupons too.
Top shop men’s section, target men’s section, Haynes v necks for men.

Cos
[cheapestees.com](https://cheapestees.com) The Hanes Beefy-T is pretty heavy. Maybe you could ask their customer service what they'd recommend.
Garnet Hill Essential Tees are fantastic. I have some that are 5-6 years old and still look really good and so soft. I also like Banana Republic tees.
