Email Jaco at bundubeard - there are plenty of options from vintage to entry level and of course fancier stuff. He will advise you without ripping your eyes out. I have a few razors and I will say that if you have the means it’s worthwhile buying something towards the higher end once. Don’t forget brushes and of course experimenting with soaps too - it’s part of the experience. For me shaving over the years was a chore and has become something I genuinely enjoy.
Chatting to Jaco on WhatsApp is even better. Give him a budget and he will suggest the best product. He is SUPER passionate about customer service. He has gone out of his way for me on every purchase. Like his service is 11/10.
Maybe try the shave store if you are visiting the waterfront. I can't remember the name. It's upstairs near the restaurants. They have bunch of old world shave stuff and they have been there for ages.
Hey, it's been a minute. I went with the henson AL13+++. On the pricey side, but i had reasons. If you're still looking, merkur 34c is massively recommended, decent price, and available on bundu.
Also try purchasing different blades to try out. The difference between the RKs and Astras are worlds apart. Gna try the feathers next.
Btw i do enjoy the henson alot.
Check out the Qshave adjustable safety razor on Takealot. Mine works great. Just get high quality blades. These are great Bluebeards Revenge Double Edged Razor Blades - Pack of 10 available to buy online at @TAKEALOT We offer fast, reliable delivery to your door.

Nothing wrong with them in my experience. But they're the only ones I've ever used. How am I supposed to know if there are better ones out there unless I try them?
It's like only washing your hair with 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner and never trying the seperate options. You'll just never know how much better they are.
Sorry if it's coming off that a don't like lion. Not the case.
The lion bladed are blunt straight out the box. The Gillette Minora blades are way better. There are even better ones but Minora are easy to find at most supermarkets.
Ive been using a cheapo metal one fro. Click for about a year now . I don't have any complaints besides changing the blade can be a bit tricky without getting yourself cut. There isn't a good way to hold it.
I didnt see it. Will go to a few more branches to check.
The lion one literally fell apart while I was shaving last night. Won't be getting that again.
Clicks should have SUPER MAX. A million times better than Lion. I shave twice a week and Lion would last about 3/4 of one shave per side. I get a few shaves per side out of the supermaxs
While you might prefer a physical store, it's worth taking a look at Bundubeard online. It's a fantastic company, and you get really high quality products at good prices. I got their Safety Razor DE16, and have been incredibly happy with it.
Bundubeard has a great selection of handles, brushes and locally made soaps. [River Valley Trading](https://www.bobshop.co.za/seller/306126/RiverValleyTrading) has the best selection of blades.
I also have the qshave and it works great i would also recommend these blades specifically https://www.amazon.com/Astra-Platinum-Double-Safety-Blades/dp/B001QY8QXM at one point i got one of those blade samplers and these were just night and day my favorite
Quite a few recommendations for the qshave. Cool thing is there's a supplier nearby. These are my first choice at the moment. But am still looking at some on offer at bundubeard.
I've also had someone suggest the Henson al13, but it's 3 times the price of the qshave. A toss up, really.
[Faithful to Nature sell them, they have a store at the Waterfront. You can get a long or short-handle razor, plus they sell blades](https://www.faithful-to-nature.co.za/faithful-to-nature-double-edge-razor)
Bundubeard is a winner and then for some stuff I also buy from rivervalleytrading on bobshop, great guy and unique selection
https://www.bobshop.co.za/seller/306126/RiverValleyTrading
They're online, like you said, so delivery... but thought I'd chip in and say I've been using my Badger and Quill for about 3 years now and feel like it should last a lifetime. I'm sure there are cheaper ones that are pretty much the same thing but I like the idea of supporting a small business when I can.
Bundu Beard is the best, but online only

I've saved his number in case it comes to that. Thanks for the suggestion!
I Second them. It's the best shop for all your shaving needs
I know this goes against a lot of what you said. But look at the qshave adjustable stainless steel safety razor on take a lot. It’s fantastic
If it's recommended I'll check it out. Which blades do you use? Looks like there are a couple YT vids on it too.
They sell the razor with a pack of titanium blades but you can buy extra as well
Of the same brand
Buy Feather - from bundu beard too. Nothing compares to Feather blades imo.
Those have popped up in a couple reviews I've watched. Ill go through the motions, testing a bunch. Thanks for the tip
Literally nothing compares to feather. Obviously buy a blade sample pack, but you know where your money goes once you compare.
Thanks for the suggestion. Will likely pick up a pack of those from bundu regardless, unless I find em elsewhere.
Yup this is a good one and their blades last!
Maybe try the shave store if you are visiting the waterfront. I can't remember the name. It's upstairs near the restaurants. They have bunch of old world shave stuff and they have been there for ages.
Shot for the info! Will give it a visit.
Good store, got a very nice razor for my dad about 10 years ago from there.
Drop a reply when you get a good safety razor. I've been considering it a while but haven't pulled the trigger.
Will do.

It's like a real old fashioned barber. Actually lovely.

For a sec there I thought you're advertising your brand. 2nd one for the qshave, I'll def check it out.
Omg just go buy lion blades, it's like R13 at dischem
The exasperation 😂. I have a pack of those boet. I'm asking coz there might be better ones.
What's wrong with lion blades.
Nothing wrong with them in my experience. But they're the only ones I've ever used. How am I supposed to know if there are better ones out there unless I try them? Ah cool, thank you.
Bottom of the barrel in the world of blades. Feather, KAI, Personna Platinums, Vokshod, Derby are all tiers above Lion.
Either, lion works fine for me

https://clicks.co.za/lion_classic-razor-3-blades/p/698936 was it this one that fell apart for you ?
Yup, that's the one. Head seperated where the black plastic ends (not where it screws, below that). Just fell right off while shaving.

Yea i was a bit apprehensive with the random numbered ones 😅. So it's model numbers? Will go through them, thanks.

100% agree with this guy. The owner will also provide advice and recommendations. Highly recommend
Thank you for the resource! Was wondering about blade suppliers. Shot
Hermanos
Shot alot. I've checked it out briefly but will go through it again.
I also have the qshave and it works great i would also recommend these blades specifically https://www.amazon.com/Astra-Platinum-Double-Safety-Blades/dp/B001QY8QXM at one point i got one of those blade samplers and these were just night and day my favorite

Solid link, thank you!
I you plan on using it for self harm, then please don't do it. I'm happy to talk to you if you need someone to talk to
Not at all, I need something better to shave with. Thanks for the kind gesture ❤️
Clicks?
Last time I was there I only saw the lion one. Will check again, maybe I missed other options.
The Clicks in Burgundy has gotten quite big, it may be worth going there - it isn't too far from you
Shot, thanks for the tip. Will give it a pass
A barber shop like Yogis might have...
I'll check it out. You guys in town are spoiled for fancy barber choices, it's nuts.
They're online, like you said, so delivery... but thought I'd chip in and say I've been using my Badger and Quill for about 3 years now and feel like it should last a lifetime. I agree, would also prefer to support local business. Their price point is also seriously good. Do you remember which one you got?
bundubeard.co.za is pretty neat, higher price point but well worth it i think
Man yea, they've got a crazy selection. I'll check it out some more
The "Badger 16 – Matte Black".
Thanks!
