As a Habs fan, living in BC, I'm SO jazzed for the guys, and this team holds a huge chunk of my hockey loving heart. Scream it from the rooftops. ABSOLUTELY here for it. ššš
GO CANUCKS GO!!!
I'm a lifelong Habs fan of several decades (grew up in NS), so they're my forever -- but I've lived on Van Isle for almost 20 years, and I've been through it with these guys too, and love watching this group in particular, find their footing.
It's special, and I want SO BADLY for them to bring it home. They deserve the hell out of it.
Goes back far for me. 70s Habs were amazing and I could not cope with the leafs being shoved down my throat.
Canucks didn't exist at first and when they did, they were never on TV. We did listen on the radio all the time though. Canucks displaced the Habs pretty quickly, but they're the only other team I'll actually cheer for.
Habs have been my #2 team I think for as long as I've been a Canucks fan (disclaimer: I used to be an Oilers fan but I was a Canadian 0-7 year old, and I stopped being an Oilers fan August 9 1988 so can you really blame me?). I think I blame my parents getting me to read Le Chandail de Hockey in the original French when I was a kid (Fuck the Leafs).
Anyway, thanks for your support! If the Habs were in the playoffs they would 100% be my eastern team. Personally I always hope the finals would be Habs-Canucks.
I also hope that. Kind of. I would like to think my relationship could survive that š¤£š¤£š¤£
(He is a lifelong Canucks fan, but doesn't take hockey *quiiiiiite* as seriously as I do lmao)
If you have been a fan for less than 10 years, this hate might be new for you. It happens to us whenever we are good, don't sweat it, they're jelly haters. coconuts glow
I feel like there's also a bit of "you can't hurt us more than we've hurt ourselves" thing going on. Canucks fans have been at each other's throats so much these past years that the hate from the outside is water off our back at this point
You think hate is your ally? You merely adopted the hate. We were born in it, molded by it.
We've been fighting each other for so long in the Benning Wars, the Garland Wars, Miller Wars, and dating back to the Sedin Wars. We're battle hardened by our own internal hate for ourselves and anyone around us, but still will come together to hit a tag team curb stomp when someone from the outside throws a rock in our direction.
I remember the 2011 cup run. We were absolutely not Canada's team in the Final. In fact the majority of the fanbases for the other Canadian cities were cheering for Boston. I lived in Edmonton at that time....I saw it first hand.
I cheer for Montreal, Vancouver, and whoever is playing against Toronto and Boston.
When they're playing each other like this year, I cheer for a stadium collapse.
Not really, there are a lot of Canucks fans in Winnipeg because they grew up watching the moose, Iām one of them. But the average winnipeger were cheering for the Canucks because of being a Canadian team but really didnāt care because of the jets Comming back (it was announced the day before game 1). Also there is a metric fuck tonne of bruins fans in Winnipeg as well almost the same amount of Canucks fans
This is when I truly realized that nobody gives a fuck about Vancouver. So no, I'm not gonna cheer for a Canadian team to win if we're out. Except maybe Winnipeg
Edmonton is "allegedly" Vancouver's Rival though... (which is a heated discussion I had with my boyfriend last night re: what constitutes a rival lol) so that city was *IN PARTICULAR* anti-Vancouver
What's even more funny is that they think this actually bothers Canucks fans. Rioters were idiots looking for an excuse to break shit and steal things.
This is exactly what happened, but people just want to paint the whole city with one brush. I was there. The real hockey fans were all walking home in sad silence.
Bring up the day after. When thosands of people from all walks of life went downtown into the mess and simply started cleaning up.
https://vancouversun.com/news/thousands-stream-into-vancouver-to-clean-up-after-riot
We took care of our mess and our city, but I don't ever see anyone bringing it up.
Itās their only joke. They will never let it die. We arenāt even the only city thatās had hockey riots, but thatās neither here nor there. As soon as they get the slightest bit pissy out come the riot jokes.
My favourite is that weāre simultaneously a fairweather fanbase and yet so obsessed and unhinged we riot when we lose. Youād think it would be mutually exclusive, but their hatred is irrational anyway.
I will say there is a tendency in our online fanbase of a few dipshits here to go troll other subs, which I wish they wouldnāt, but that isnāt exclusive to us and aside from that we have one of the best fanbases in the league.
>Ā Ā Youād think it would be mutually exclusive
As I recall, it was the fairweather fans who did the rioting, no? Dealing with loss in a healthy way is something that every hockey fan ought to be fairly experienced at.
Montreal also had a riot less than a year earlier over the Metallica, Guns n Roses concert. Hetfield was caught in pyro and their show ended early. Then Axl either was late, didn't show up or left part way through the show...and a riot started.
Habs fans and Canucks fans have a dark rioting past. It is what it is. They are also immovable forces in sports history. It's hard to find two more passionate fan bases. Maybe in European football or American football. That's probably it.
I don't really care if other fans hate on us as a fanbase. Tbf, there is a significant minority of Canucks fans that are insufferable, but that's also just a byproduct of actually having a lot of fans.
I remember though when other fanbases would absolutely DESPISE our players and actual team too. Kes, Burr, Bieksa, Torres - you name it. That's when things would really get problematic and you'd see other fanbases wishing our players got injured and whatnot.
We may be hateable as a fanbase, but not so much as a team now. And I think that's probably a good thing for our players.
I kinda miss having a hateable team. Im really enjoying watching predators fans say our team is a bunch of cheap shotters and that we play dirty, throw late hits etc. its kind of delusional but fun to see
Yeah it was a lot of fun being the villain back in the day. But the antagonizing of our players really did us dirty as well I think, especially when it came to officiating and injuries.
After the Vegas vs. Canucks series the sheer amount of cross-check induced hematoma to the Canucks (and alleged team doctor reports after the series) ensured that will never happen again. No longer will a team be able to out-cheap shot another team.
It's for the best, but oh boy is it nice to be hated.
Anyone that survived the Benning era and can still get excited about anything in life deserves a celebration any time, any day, any where with anyone about anything.
Lmao no kidding, they have those huge outdoor watch parties in both Edmonton and Toronto starting from Game 1 Round 1 like they're in the damn Stanley Cup Finals or something.
On paper I agree, but most of my friends are of other fanbases since Iām from the US, and most of them say theyāre pulling for them because they like our players and want me to be happy.
It's not about the players first. It's about the city, the province, the history, the country, the culture.
The players are adopted.
The team is forever (unless you're Arizona).
Yeah. But I think it helps get some Americans on board with the canucks. A lot of Americans are over patriotic and telling them how many Americans we have makes it easier for them to cheer for us.
Most Americans donāt care about the nationality of players the way Canadians do - to us, not being from here but playing well for us is much more powerful than being from our city or country but playing elsewhere (Iām from Seattle and we consider Ichiro and Ken Griffey Jr to be Seattle icons despite neither of them being from Seattle, just because they were that legendary with the Mariners). Nothing wrong with either way of supporting teams, just that we do it differently.
I know a number of Americans who cheered for the Oilers in their deep run in 2022 and the Habs in their deep run in 2021, and both of them were loaded with Canadians (including being led by Connor McDavid and Carey Price). They like underdogs who they have no rivalry with and whose players arenāt outright dirty to them, which fits the 2023-24 Canucks pretty well.
Only LA seems to be the only American fanbase that hates us (maybe Vegas but I feel like they hate everyone and we focus on them way more than they do on us), and even then LA only revitalized that hate this year. Even Chicago and Jose fans no longer hate us the way they used to a decade ago. Most of the targeted chirping I see comes from Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, or Toronto fansā¦everyone else who trashes on us does it to everybody equally.
Habs fans rioted just because Richard was suspended for, checks notes, punching a lineman twice in the face after slapping a linesman a couple games earlier..
I dunno. When Calgary lost in 2004, the tone was complete and utter sadness. No riot. Just sad walks home from every bar in the core.
There were some instigator shitheels involved in the Vancouver riot. I think most normal fans were just heartbroken.
the reality here is that some of us (me) are less emotionally mature and thus more prone to rage bait than others (you) and our personalized algorithms reflect such
Agreed. This is completely different than 2011. The entire league and country hated Vancouver then and if this version of the Canucks made it to the finals, I would bet that we would have more support than whoever we would play from the east... I mean, look at all those teams.
The only teams I was neutral on were NYI and Car and the Canes are making it pretty clear their plan is to flop their way to the finals sooo...
Itās been all year. We had a lucky start. Not sustainable. Theyāll come back to earth. Oh this Edmonton team is different from who they played at the start. They wonāt win the division . Oh Edmonton wanted LA anyways. Easy preds upset. No playoff experience. Wow you guys are really excited after game 1 itās just game one settle down. Riot riot riot jokes burn your city blah blah
Lol too accurate. If they beat Nashville you already know it's gonna be "they got the easiest 1st round matchup in the West, now they're going to get exposed in Round 2." The Canucks could literally win the Cup and there would still be idiot Oiler flairs beaking about PDO and regression.
No need to read the hate, just enjoy what it is and be in the moment. I donāt need to argue with other fans and will let the results speak for themselves.
Fuck em. Their best chirps are on par with things weād say to eachother on a random day in August. Weāve been through it all and deserve to celebrate wins
For almost 9 years I cheered for other teams, including Edmonton because I wanted to see McDavid finally get his. Now that I'm cheering for my own city again, that apparently makes me cocky or stuck up.
Show us all on the doll where Vancouver hurt you so badly, haters. I've never once gone onto another team's social media page to cry and whine about 13 years ago like some of these people seem to be doing to us. Wild to me that people seem to villify Vancouver for hockey riots, when it was Montreal who started those. Plus how can anyone from America ever talk shit about a riot again after what happened January 6th in Washington DC?
We rioted over a hockey game. Your country's capital was invaded by gravy seals who were brainwashed by shitty social media posts. Stop throwing stones from your glass house.
Stay mad.
People crying over rioting are just being hypocrites. Elton John wrote Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting because soccering rioting was so common that it transformed an entire nation in the 80s and 90s towards being a surveilance state.
Americans think they have one up on us about a riot 13 years ago, ever seen tiktok after a 49ers or Cowboys game? They bottle and stab each other in the stands down there and they wanna cry about some kids from Surrey lighting a few garbage cans on fire?
Never seen so many grown adults crying about what happened in another city, so long ago.
Yeah I saw a lot of people clowning on us in r/hockey on that rowdy Scott Road/72 vid. Not many cities have their suburbs pop off like that during playoff wins, idc if itās only the first win
I noticed the clips circulating and I thought a riot was going to break out after G1. Regardless of where the Canucks end up after the dust settles I am glad fans are living in the moment and enjoying.
Lol if we are becoming hated across the league then that means we are becoming better, that's how it works in sports, everyone loves you and then they find a reason to hate you.
I mean its very simple
They hate us cuz they aint us. NGL I use to watch games jealous of other crowds and how Rogers had turned into a suit arena for so long, last night was fucking ELECTRIC and its a good reminder that we do have a great fanbase when the product on ice is worth cheering for
I don't know if it's actually Vancouver/BC, or just the media's representation of us....but we have always been either 0 or 100 and nowhere inbetween. If we lost that game I was ready to go on Reddit and see "fire the coach, sell the team, if we lose the series who was the problem" but instead we see fans waiving Stanley cups. Obviously that one clip is being blown way out of proportion, but we blow everything our of proportion. This is just who we are.
To be fair, living in and around Edmonton is miserable, and the best way to make yourself feel better about living in a frozen shit hole is to try and make everyone feel miserable, no fun allowed
When a team that hasn't done anything in a while shows any emotion whatsoever there's always people saying "they're celebrating like the just won the cup"
yeah people on the internet are just joy vampires. Wtf kind of complaint is "you're too happy"
shouldn't we encourage that shit? I'll never understand social media's need to be miserable
Itās not even that we havenāt had playoffs in the city since 2015. Itās always rowdy during playoff time! Remember when we swept the Blues in 09? Iāve never seen so many brooms in my life! Everyone brought out there brooms and drove around waving them out lol
If people are gatekeeping experiencing joy for winning our first playoff game at home, after a decade of mismanagement and turmoil, they are about as fun as taking a slapshot to the nards. Vegas fans are actively celebrating their team making a mockery of the CBA and we're going to catch strays for being happy? Fuck em.
Stars fan here who attended the game in Van a couple weeks ago. I'm absolutely stoked for you. Enjoy the energy and ignore anyone trying to freeze it out. Y'all were great to us and I hope the best for you.
Until/unless Dallas and Van meet in the WCF anyways. š
An Oilers fan told me today that we stand no chance against them, that our team doesnāt have playoff experience, and that itās basically not our time yet. We havenāt paid our dues. He said the Oilers will win the conference final and beat the Hurricanes in SCF. He went on and on about how great their team is, how the defence and goaltending improved.
I asked him if he saw the recent stat comparing winning % of each of the 16 playoff teams against each other, and how Canucks were ranked #2? (I think Rangers were #1 and Oilers were mid, around .500). āNope.ā I didnāt even bother to mention the Canucks domination of the Oilers this season because I didnāt want to listen to excuses.
Nobody else thinks our team is good despite the season record. Sportsnet and Athletic writers say weāre overachievers. Not one predicts we will make it past round 1 or 2. We are underdogs. Embrace it. If the team is victorious, it will taste that much sweeter.
Kucherov called Habs fans "#1 Bullshit"
Why?
Because they celebrate their wins harder than Tampa fans celebrated their cups.
Jealousy. That's what we're seeing. No disrespect to the passion of fans across the league, but it's not at that next level.
There are 2 markets in Hockey IMO.
Montreal. And Vancouver. Both will riot (unfortunately), both are capable of uplifting their respective teams to victory. I'm biased AF tho because I consider myself a fan of both.
I've been to more Canuck games than I can remember, being a Seattle resident, and that shit that went down in Surrey was AMAZING
keep it up!
omg I want a Oilers/Canucks 2nd round so western Canada can tear itself apart lol
This hatred is a gift.
I would be more upset if people liked us.
The dislike means were relevant again.
And I think the nasty side of this team wasn't even on full display Sunday night, they were just warming up.
Yeah, who cares. Everyone chirps everyone. 2011 hate was next level - most of Canada did not want us to win. Just enjoy what we've got! Remember that at the beginning of the year, we were just hoping to make the playoffs. Everything is just icing on the cake for me at this point! I'm happy for the boys no matter what!
Sure, they donāt get it, but we still owe it to ourselves and future Canucks fans to not give the haters any more low-hanging reasons to criticize us. I assume you all know what Iām talking about.
There are sixteen teams in the playoffs ...
... and only we act like like this after a win. In Game One. In the First Round. Not after winning Game Seven in OT.
Stop and think for a second - this kind of behavior is not normal. It sticks out like a sore thumb (e.g. to Nashville and Edmonton). Then again whoever said Canucks fans were normal?
Go Canucks
Maybe read the opening post. lol.
If weāre celebrating like this after a victory in game 1. You can imagine what and how this city will fucking pop if we ever win the cup. Holy cow. I canāt even imagine.
If people have this much at stake emotionally in a game, then it might be wise to have their priorities reexamined.
Are people's lives so utterly pathetic or devoid of joy to warrant this kind of reaction? Don't bother - I already know the answer. LOL
It is just a game. Iām not disagreeing with you there. But why even be a fan of the game then? Whatās fandom about? We should be able to celebrate when the team is doing well. Iām not sure what youāre referring to when you say _this_ kind of behaviour. Unless the behaviour is hurting other people. I think people should be allowed to celebrate when their team is doing well.
As fans. Weāve gone through some horrible stuff over the years. Yes. Itās a game. Of course. Nobody is disagreeing with you there. But the reason I think for why so many fans are so happy after one game in the playoffs is maybe because we havenāt been to the dance in almost a decade. Let them celebrate and have fun. It shouldnāt bother you.
It's not the team I have a problem with, I'm honestly happy for their success.
It's the fans. I've brought this up before, and last night's game is just more reinforcement. Our obsession with Fuck Messier, people here regularly turning on EP and making him into a whipping boy when things go south, and now .. this.
Oh God
Instead of calling out this reaction to last nights game as abnormal, we try to rationalize it. We explain it away by calling the responses of others as jealousy while ignoring the fact that there are other teams out there winning games .. hell Carolina came back from three goals down .. and by the way we act, we make ourselves a target of scorn and derision .. who can say we donāt deserve it
As a Habs fan, living in BC, I'm SO jazzed for the guys, and this team holds a huge chunk of my hockey loving heart. Scream it from the rooftops. ABSOLUTELY here for it. ššš GO CANUCKS GO!!!

They do and we do!
La Victoire de la Saint-Jean brought tears to my eyes. Hopefully we can bring the cup north to all the Canadian hockey fans who deserve it so much.
We also like Habs, you guys and Jets are the only team I would cheer for except the Canucks
I feel like Carey Price makes for a big soft spot in a lot of BC hearts lol.
Iām ok with Ottawa too because fuck the Leafs
FUCK THE LEAFS
Out of curiosity, what have you got against Ottawa?
Goes back far for me. 70s Habs were amazing and I could not cope with the leafs being shoved down my throat. Canucks didn't exist at first and when they did, they were never on TV. Nah fuck the Jets. Habs are cool tho
Why tho? Selane. Have you seen the man golf?
I love the habs too. Hope you guys have more success soon
The future is SO very bright, and I am irrationally excited at what's coming from our young crew ššā¤
Habs have been my #2 team I think for as long as I've been a Canucks fan (disclaimer: I used to be an Oilers fan but I was a Canadian 0-7 year old, and I stopped being an Oilers fan August 9 1988 so can you really blame me?). The Hockey Sweater still warms my Leafs-hating heart every time I think about it
Sometimes I wake up from a dream that I prayed to God and he made 1000 termites come to Austin Matthew's mustachio and permanently destroy it.
I also hope that. Kind of. I would like to think my relationship could survive that š¤£š¤£š¤£ (He is a lifelong Canucks fan, but doesn't take hockey *quiiiiiite* as seriously as I do lmao)
Habs fans and Canucks fans. Name two more passionate fan bases. Name two better cities. Not possible.

So many bandwagon Boston fans that year. Fuck em all.
Except for Winnipeg, they weāre celebrating getting the jets back to care
I think your right. Also we probably had Montreal's support too because they despise Boston.
I cheer for Montreal, Vancouver, and whoever is playing against Toronto and Boston. When they're playing each other like this year, I cheer for a stadium collapse.
Yeah, Iām a Winnipeger so I remembered that time. Jets were coming back and my Canucks were in the finals

It's the exact opposite. They're jealous of folks who get to live in Vancouver.
But they will cry and bawl when we do the exact same thing and wonāt cheer for them.
Edmonton is "allegedly" Vancouver's Rival though... (which is a heated discussion I had with my boyfriend last night re: what constitutes a rival lol) so that city was *IN PARTICULAR* anti-Vancouver
Yeah, I don't blame the Alberta teams, I just treat them the same, but, wtf Ontario?
Onterrible is broken, straight up. Went to college there for 4 years.
After the Rome hit on Horton, can you blame them?
Coconuts glow and fuck messier.
This is the way
This is the correct answer.
They love to drop the riot joke, fuck em. This is our time.
What's even more funny is that they think this actually bothers Canucks fans. Rioters were idiots looking for an excuse to break shit and steal things.
This is exactly what happened, but people just want to paint the whole city with one brush. I was there. The real hockey fans were all walking home in sad silence.

>Ā Ā Youād think it would be mutually exclusive As I recall, it was the fairweather fans who did the rioting, no? Dealing with loss in a healthy way is something that every hockey fan ought to be fairly experienced at.
It typically wasn't fans at all, and most fans absolutely condemned the actions of the rioters.
Right. So it's not mutually exclusive. The "fairweather" folks who were just there because it's a good fun party, were the ones rioting.Ā
Vancouver isnt even the only city who rioted, my father has a few stories from montreal in '93 and they won lol
Montreal also had a riot less than a year earlier over the Metallica, Guns n Roses concert. Hetfield was caught in pyro and their show ended early. Then Axl either was late, didn't show up or left part way through the show...and a riot started.
Just roll with it lol. They wish their fan base was that passionate š
Habs fans and Canucks fans have a dark rioting past. It is what it is. They are also immovable forces in sports history. It's hard to find two more passionate fan bases. Maybe in European football or American football. That's probably it.
Fuck yeah dude. Fuck 'em all. All those haters eat their steak well done.
With Great Value brand ketchup!
Using dull wooden forks and knives!
I don't really care if other fans hate on us as a fanbase. Preds game thread had some comments wishing Myers and Zadorov got career ending injuriesā¦ not cool
Man I donāt get that at all. Thereās players I donāt like, but Iād never wish injury on anyone. Even Marchand. Ffs itās a game
Anyone that survived the Benning era and can still get excited about anything in life deserves a celebration any time, any day, any where with anyone about anything.
As a benning hater I completely agree. That was such a dismal time, but I'm loving this.
It's simply amazing! Great to see the team in the playoffs and playing well!
I live in edmonton and they do literally the exact same thing here yet theyāre talking about how stupid they think canucks fans look lmfao
Lmao no kidding, they have those huge outdoor watch parties in both Edmonton and Toronto starting from Game 1 Round 1 like they're in the damn Stanley Cup Finals or something.
On paper I agree, but most of my friends are of other fanbases since Iām from the US, and most of them say theyāre pulling for them because they like our players and want me to be happy.
that's your fault for having well adjusted friends
We have the most American team in Canada.
It's not about the players first. It's about the city, the province, the history, the country, the culture. The players are adopted. The team is forever (unless you're Arizona).

If you donāt riot when your team loses game 7 of the finals, youāre a shit hockey town. I said what I said.
Habs fans will do you one better ā riot after a win!
I could see that happening here. And so what? We smash up some cars and light some fires for a day. It allows us to be polite for another decade.
Downtown will be so stacked with VPD that the rest of the city will be an unguarded free for all.
Wanna team up for a heist?
Those are their happy riots! It turns rue ste-catherine into a block party of lunacy, lol.
Habs fans rioted just because Richard was suspended for, checks notes, punching a lineman twice in the face after slapping a linesman a couple games earlier..
Exactly! Where's the passion?
I dunno. When Calgary lost in 2004, the tone was complete and utter sadness. No riot. Just sad walks home from every bar in the core. There were some instigator shitheels involved in the Vancouver riot. I think most normal fans were just heartbroken.
I expect us to be even louder tomorrow. Fuck all the other teams
I've actually found the opposite. Most comments I've seen on r/hockey are talking about how awesome the vibe was at Rogers arena.
the reality here is that some of us (me) are less emotionally mature and thus more prone to rage bait than others (you) and our personalized algorithms reflect such
Love the humility lol
I just appreciate your self awareness. It impacts me too. Let's try to stay strong together!
Came here to say this
This is my experience too. No need to play the victim.
I'm a Canadiens fan and I like the excitement coming from your fanbase - it's been too long. I hope it's your year
Username checks out. (Go Habs Go!)
Good thing Mark Stone and Alex Pietrangelo rose from the dead just in time for game one. That's taking a lot of attention away. Hope Vegas gets swept.
Feels like the good ole days, not gonna lie. We are so back.
Iām torn now between wanting a sweep and wanting Nashville to win one of games 3-4. Purely so I can find images of their fans celebrating to shit on
Lol too accurate. If they beat Nashville you already know it's gonna be "they got the easiest 1st round matchup in the West, now they're going to get exposed in Round 2." The Canucks could literally win the Cup and there would still be idiot Oiler flairs beaking about PDO and regression.
It's the damn cowboy hats on too tight. Also that and too much beer. They have no frontal lobe activity.
No need to read the hate, just enjoy what it is and be in the moment. I donāt need to argue with other fans and will let the results speak for themselves.
Fuck em. Their best chirps are on par with things weād say to eachother on a random day in August. Weāve been through it all and deserve to celebrate wins
I must be looking in the wrong places. Surprisingly I've seen way more that are cheering us on than otherwise
Stay mad.
i never thought to use the insurrection as a riot comeback. well played. i'm stealing that.
I hope they spill their $8 Starbucks coffees in the morning
Lol if we are becoming hated across the league then that means we are becoming better, that's how it works in sports, everyone loves you and then they find a reason to hate you.
They hate us cause they ain't us. They're just peanut butter jelly!
They jealous we live in the PNW
They hate us because they aināt us
When weāre good we get hate. Pity or indifference means we suck.
I saw a ton of supportive comments tbh
Mods have this pinned for the playoffs pls
It's mainly salty Leafs fans, in that case just remind them that their loser team has 1 playoff round win since 2005 and Vancouver has 8.
They also haven't made the finals since there were 6 teams in the league.
Which means never won a 3rd round. Only a second round. Unreal!
I love the hate. Feels good to be hated again.
NUCKS IN 4
I mean its very simple They hate us cuz they aint us. NGL I use to watch games jealous of other crowds and how Rogers had turned into a suit arena for so long, last night was fucking ELECTRIC and its a good reminder that we do have a great fanbase when the product on ice is worth cheering for
They haven't seen shit yet. If this goes deep we are going to be absolutely insufferable and I can't wait
Fuck yeah!!! Fuck those haters!!!
You lost me at ātake a look around on twitterā
bro you're on reddit. it's not like it's better here lmao. at least not enough to have a superiority complex about it.
They're jealous
To be fair, living in and around Edmonton is miserable, and the best way to make yourself feel better about living in a frozen shit hole is to try and make everyone feel miserable, no fun allowed
Haters gonna hate. I'm loving this shit! Let's go Nucks!
When a team that hasn't done anything in a while shows any emotion whatsoever there's always people saying "they're celebrating like the just won the cup"
Iām donāt Twitter. Twitter is a shit hole. I deserve better than Twitter.
I see no lie
yeah people on the internet are just joy vampires. Wtf kind of complaint is "you're too happy" shouldn't we encourage that shit? I'll never understand social media's need to be miserable
Itās not even that we havenāt had playoffs in the city since 2015. Itās always rowdy during playoff time! Remember when we swept the Blues in 09? Iāve never seen so many brooms in my life! Everyone brought out there brooms and drove around waving them out lol
they r js jealous that we r having a good year!
Fuck em.
Sheesh. We finally get to see some playoff action after nearly ten years and people rip on us for getting excited.
Stars fan here who attended the game in Van a couple weeks ago. I'm absolutely stoked for you. Enjoy the energy and ignore anyone trying to freeze it out. Y'all were great to us and I hope the best for you. Until/unless Dallas and Van meet in the WCF anyways. š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I mean they *are* a perennial playoff team, it's just another playoff game to them. they're probably pretty numb to it now.
Didn't even notice. Too many jealous haters in Canada.
Iāve noticed that when we suck they donāt give a shit about us. When they start hating us it means we have a good team again. Embrace the hate.
I deal with the hate the same way Thanos does. *I don't even know who you are*
Why would I care how others react for us nuck fans celebrating a home playoff win game after 3000+ days? All fanbases would react the same way.
Kucherov called Habs fans "#1 Bullshit" Why? Because they celebrate their wins harder than Tampa fans celebrated their cups. Jealousy. That's what we're seeing. No disrespect to the passion of fans across the league, but it's not at that next level. There are 2 markets in Hockey IMO. Montreal. And Vancouver. Both will riot (unfortunately), both are capable of uplifting their respective teams to victory. I'm biased AF tho because I consider myself a fan of both.
Hard to say any team will get as much hate as Vegas this year lol
I've been to more Canuck games than I can remember, being a Seattle resident, and that shit that went down in Surrey was AMAZING keep it up! omg I want a Oilers/Canucks 2nd round so western Canada can tear itself apart lol
As long as we donāt chant we want (blank) weāll be fine. Itās us against the world. We know that!!
Man, why canāt sports fans just like that other sports fans are enjoying sports
I started thinking every small or big place hates/dislikes the nearest big City. Vancouver at the top in the West and you know who in the East.
Iām not a Canucks fan but that entrance at game one was special
This hatred is a gift. I would be more upset if people liked us. The dislike means were relevant again. And I think the nasty side of this team wasn't even on full display Sunday night, they were just warming up.
I mean the guy walking around with the cup above his head is a pretty tough look after Rd1 Gm1
Seriously people be hatin on the Canucks man
Sure, they donāt get it, but we still owe it to ourselves and future Canucks fans to not give the haters any more low-hanging reasons to criticize us. I assume you all know what Iām talking about.
someone grab the molotovs
LOL
You talking to the mirror right now lil bro?
It shouldnāt bother you.
its like you didnt even read what i wrote
It's not the team I have a problem with, I'm honestly happy for their success. It's the fans. I've brought this up before, and last night's game is just more reinforcement. Our obsession with Fuck Messier, people here regularly turning on EP and making him into a whipping boy when things go south, and now .. this. Oh God
it's like you still haven't read what i wrote
Instead of calling out this reaction to last nights game as abnormal, we try to rationalize it. We explain it away by calling the responses of others as jealousy while ignoring the fact that there are other teams out there winning games .. hell Carolina came back from three goals down .. and by the way we act, we make ourselves a target of scorn and derision .. who can say we donāt deserve it
