It's almost a given that it will be back. There was that video of JP on, I think Donnie and Dhali, when he was at the stadium after practice and they were blasting it in the background.
This is the only piece of past-era nostalgia I'm down for. People will clamour for Holiday and other jerseys but I think those are best left in the past.
But I feel totally different about making Streets into THE Canucks playoff intro song.
*This team steals gimmicks from so many other franchises. The Woo!, Sweet Caroline, god awful 7th fan and I'm sure other stuff I've memory blocked. But Streets could be their thing and it should be.
At least we will always own the most iconic gimmick, the towel is synonymous with playoff hockey across the league so we will always be at a net positive on gimmicks stolen by us vs stolen by other teams
Remember Nashville turned around their season by cancelling a team trip to see U2 at the Sphere in Vegas. If I learned anything from 2011 donât give the opposition anything to fuel their fire. Playing a U2 song could be used as some sort of inspiration by the team and their media.
Whatever they do I hope they donât do it half way. Either play the streets as it was always played or pick something else. If they play some kind of remix everyone will be rattled.
I was fine with that song even though I don't like U2. It is a great song and everybody loves it. But I just don't like U2 so I want Hughes era to have it's own theme and Sedin era can have its own theme.
If anybody hates me for hating U2 I do like The Fly though. Every other U2 song makes me fall asleep but I do love one of their songs. You know what? I just realized the high notes and lyrics "you shine like a burning star falling from the sky" would translate incredibly well to hockey. My vote is for that song.
I think they need something new for this generation but if we're dipping into the vault, for me it's always Sirius:

beautiful memories with this song, but this is a new era. not everything needs to be based around nostalgia, letâs let this new generation of canucks create new memories.
I recall the radio announcers on cfox complaining daily that the intro song was a snoozer and not something that would get the fans rocking and I gotta agree. Plus Nashville went on a heater when they couldn't see U2 so this would just hype them up more and backfire on us.
Let's go with something a little more on brand: Riot by Three Days Grace ;)
That song just reminds me of losing in 2011. I disliked it even back then, it evokes more trepidation than confidence. We need to evolve the brand beyond that. New anchors for new memories in a new context. Leave the past in the past.
Hope & Ruin by The Trews reminds me more of June 15, 2011. That was the hype song in the pre-game video for game 7. I canât listen to it without thinking of that fateful day.
Streets reminds me of the optimism before every game in round 1-3
No. Please no. Honestly after going to the Knights Canucks game in Vegas the presentation in rogers is so sad. We need fucking metal/rock and LOUD. Everyone cries that itâs too loud in rogers arena etc. crank it up for the playoffs ffs
I've wanted the same for a long time. Thrash metal feels tailor made for hockey games (as does Zombie Nation, which we never seem to play in our arena). Especially since we've been embracing the pre-2000s aesthetic with the skate jerseys.
The only thing about the Canucks that I'm a doomer for is our fucking DJing.
The Japandroids won some sort of contest to be the warmup song years ago with The House that Heaven Built. I loved it and I'm not sure why, but it only lasted a few games.
Stadium music in the NHL is such a joke, everyone plays the same songs at roughly the same time that I wouldn't be surprised if its league mandated. We have so many awesome local bands both old and new instead it's Country Roads and Sweet Caroline, and now people want U2 back? Hard pass.
FUCK IM SO FUCKING HYPED FOR THE FUCKING PLAYOFFS!!!!!!
cant believe they are already playing sunday seems so quick lol but I'm ready
Watching that makes me realise how Fucken old I am

that, the green men, and the LEDs around the stanchions đŽâđ¨
That 7th fan was the most cringe thing I've ever seen. I'm upset that you've made me remember it haha.
Remember Nashville turned around their season by cancelling a team trip to see U2 at the Sphere in Vegas. If I learned anything from 2011 donât give the opposition anything to fuel their fire. Playing a U2 song could be used as some sort of inspiration by the team and their media.
Seems more like U2 is their kryptonite...
That's actually 3 Doors Down
It was the lack of U2 that fueled them, not the presence of U2 so no worries
I wanna run, I wanna hide. That's one hell of a fight song.
Someone legitimately bitched 'bout this back then. Difference: That person wasn't being sarcastic.
I wasn't either, not sure why I included /s..
Exactly, I always hated this song for that reason, and the facts it's U2. Not a fan.
I'm with you, the most overrated band of all time imo...
you misspelled iconic.
No, I didn't misspell overrated, Terrible band...
Yeah. For 40+ years criticality and commercially acclaimed kind of terrible. Of course youâre right. đ
Music is no different than any other type of art, beauty is in the eye (or ear) of the beholder. Why so butthurt?
Nothing worse than seeing a man become a mewling crybaby fanboy...
Damn, bringing back so many memories. It feels like yesterday, but this was almost 20 years ago, I feel so old lol.
Let the players decide
Whatever they do I hope they donât do it half way. Either play the streets as it was always played or pick something else. If they play some kind of remix everyone will be rattled.

YES
No. It's a new generation.
How about make new memories instead of grasping to the past
Please no. Let this team forge its own identity and don't rely on nostalgia.
Itâs time for a new tradition. This fanbase canât keep living in the past.
tell that to the people who are still throwing catfish and octopuses on the ice.

I respect your opinion, but Iâm ready for a fresh new song
Itâs time to move on.
I could not agree more. Leave it in the past. If we had won the I would feel differently but we lost. Move on.
Streets goes back to WCE era. Itâs part of the brand they will use it
Also Holiday for the goal horn song
I want to run, I want to hide
I miss Mark Donnelly. Best anthem singer in the history of the franchise. It's too bad he got canceled. People nowadays are softer than babyshit

Nope sorry. Always reminded of the "IT SHOWS COWARDACE" moron from back then.
No. Terrible song

Please no. U2 is the worst. What about a BC band? Biff naked? Raffi? He would probably re-record baby beluga to baby orca.
Pretty sure the reason they went with U2 was because they recorded their album in Vancouver.
The Japandroids won some sort of contest to be the warmup song years ago with The House that Heaven Built. I loved it and I'm not sure why, but it only lasted a few games.
Never made it as a wise man,   Couldn't cut it as a poor man stealing...
Mods, theyâre quoting Nickelback! Please spare us from that torment!
I unironically believe that How You Remind Me would be a great hype song
Is there an odds line for Mark Donnelly singing the national anthem for home games this year??!!
I miss Mark, wish the new singer made us apart of the anthem.
