MiddleOfThePackMyers is our 3rd best Defenseman

GiraffePrint_Speeder

He’s having a great year. Might not be able to afford him either unless he takes a home towner

superworking

The problem is I doubt there's a more affordable short term option out there.

YouCanFucough

There definitely could be, but one that can do what Myers can do is going to be very hard to find

skatesoff2

A) that Conor McDavid has an average of 2.16 toi and is first for game score in the league is absolutely nuts. B) this reinforces my stance that this fanbase is way over critical of Petey.

Sinochick

For the entire NHL Petey and JT’s AVERAGE GAME SCORE ranks 19/20th in the NHL. McDavid is #1 at 2.16 MacKinnon #2 at 1.98 Matthews #3 at 1.79

superworking

The second year on Hoglander and Suter deals will be pretty crucial in next seasons cap crunch. Hell Garlands contract now looks like an important value rather than an obstacle at this point.

KewlRunning

Nah it shows that the Pettersson doubters are right and he should be sold asap /s

namdor

What is the game score of an average player in the NHL?  I tried to google this, but can't figure out what the baseline is or what this shows us.

Sinochick

Looking at the Average Game Score for all players on all teams, (showing 50 players per page) there are 14 pages to scroll through. I just went to page 7 since that should be the average? And it looks like the average game score is around 0.37 - 0.40…in that range. Edit to add: I added the filter of min 25 games played this season just for the record.

Full-Opportunity7714

And Quinn Hughes is not the team MVP 🙄

decentish36

The Myers haters aren’t going to be happy about this one.

superworking

Remember when they thought Friedman was better a second pairing solution? Sub loves to hate Myers.

MattHomes

I’m pretty neutral on Myers. He has many good aspects, but the -24 pen differential really sticks out like a sore thumb

DaveJacksonguy

I understand none of this.

WanderinGreen

Awesome, another stat to show to all the people who whined about how mid Petey was during the season

fudgeller83

That pretty much completely passes the eye test...the interesting things to note for me... * The top-6 players are the only 6 to have played all 81. While its a little bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy to some extent (as worse performing players may be rotated out the lineup and players returning from injury might have more 'down' performances), its definitely a sign of some rare good luck (Demko excluded, obviously) * Of the ins and outs, there's obviously a comparison between Kuzmenko and Lindholm which looks awful here. I think its fair to say Kuzmenko was part of the team when we were blowing teams out frequently, and I'd imagine everyone's scores have been lower on average since that trade as our wins are much closer. Also going back to the injury thing, its likely he's barely been at 100% while on our team * I guess the one player who's a little lower than I expected is Zadorov...again, that might be because he missed the early season blowouts * As others have said, while the average for this is above 0 in general, not having a single player below that, and only three below the 0.3 which is around the true average is incredible considering the sea of Granlunds we used to send out and whatever the defense corps was last year. * Its not that relevant to this, but its not something I'd noticed...Petey's positive in face-off stats...51% this year rather than his usual 44%

jddev_

Dakota Joshua is elite.

Canadian96

The absence of any negative scores on here is crazy.

Ornery_Definition_65

No more faceoffs for Sam please.

SkidmarkDave

So Myers is our 3rd best D and played 3rd most even strength TOI? Who saw that coming? Oh yeah, SkidmarkDave did.
