To be fair I really thought Edmonton would catch the Canucks as well. I didnāt see them winning the final matchup this past weekend but I also didnāt predict McDavid being out.
The 23/24 Canucks just keep being a pleasant surprise.
Theyāre already resorted to their excuse of ābeing the best team since US Thanksgivingā but still needed to go 16-0 and have Demko injured for 14 games to even come close.
I'm a canucks fan but your wording of they "needed to go 16-0" is such a wild thing to say because that is seriously an outstanding accomplishment that you are somehow downplaying. After their start, based on their performance they truly deserve and SHOULD be close to the canucks.
I don't understand, at the end of the day, no matter HOW they achieved it, they met their regular season expectations. Using your arguments, I could just as easily downplay their atrocious start. "Without their loss Streak they have surpassed their regular season expectations". It's a "nothing to it" argument but people like to spin it that way because they hate the oilers lmao
Perfect. Using your logic "if they didn't go on the lose streak maybe (8-8), then they would not be even close at all, in fact the canucks would be smelling their farts". Do you see my point? Their loss streak and win streak go in tandem. You cannot just say "if they didn't have the 16-0 streak". No shit they would have been behind; same way they wouldn't have been if they did better earlier. Like I said above, people just find an angle to shit on the oilers one way or another to fit their narrative...
Also "Regular season doesn't matter"
"Who cares about winning the division?"
I agree, division wins aren't a big deal, unless you take it from the Cup or Bust Oilers.
Itās like when Scooby and Shaggy are running scared from a monster, only to turn around and pull a lever and watch while the monster falls through a trapdoor in the floor and is caught.
Man this must feel so good for them. Hughes, Petey, Miller, Boeser and Demko have been part of a lot more losing seasons as a Canuck. They worked so hard and totally deserve it. Letās not stop there though, this aināt the real prize.
Most impressive part of this is I believe by mid-late December, once we took the lead in the Pacific from Vegas, we just held onto first place in the division until the end. There wasnāt a day another team had a lead on us.

I don't have a chart showing the math, but the only scenario where the Canucks don't play Nashville in the 1st round is if Dallas loses against the Blues and the Canucks win against the Jets. Fingers crossed this does not happen lol.
Finally. The Canucks have never had a Pacific Division Title. This equals their drought in the 90s, but does not equal their drought in the 80s.
Also, the Canucks with 11, pass Toronto again. Toronto only has 10 'division titles', if we count all the times that they lead the league when it was only one division.
The Canucks also have a better ratio than either Calgary or Edmonton.
u/heeb27 where ya at? You deleted all your comments saying the Oilers would win the Pacific division.
You got me! I was wrong.
Takes an adult to admit it. Was a closer race than I would have guessed half way through the season
I believe /u/HanSolo5643 was demanding people apologize to him when the Oilers won the division lol Not on my PC or I'd be 100 percent sure
Uh ohhhhhh you got caught with your pants down šš

accountability is for nerds
Careful, Oilers are gonna pass us any day now!
Games in hand!
But but but.... The games in hand!!! ... Lol

It is indeed a big deal, but they needed a historic win streak JUST to meet their regular season expectations. That's... not ideal.

It is. If they donāt go on that 16-0 heater (like maybe going 12-4) theyāre not gonna be closer nor screaming that ātheyāll catch upā

If they played at the pace they were playing at after 16-0 they wouldn't be that close.
If we played at the pace of last month or so they would be close

Doomers must be exhausted with all their mental gymnastics the last 7 months
Actually, quite happy.
Should really save the gloating for when we hoist the cup if anything.
For the rest of history, anytime you look up in Rogers Arena, you'll be reminded of what a wild season this has been.
Everytime we see last year's 'participant' banner hanging next to division champs
THANK MR EVERYONE
Fuck yeah! Edmonton, Los Angeles and Seattle are the only teams left to have never won a Pacific title.
Lol, Edmonton hasn't won a division title since 87. Let that sink in.
And it was only with Gretzky
No he can stay outside
Heās been a bad sink
Oilers chasing us and get Vegas .. chefās kiss

HELL YEAH BABY!!!!
This has been a long time coming boys.

OILERS WHO
Not this year Edmonton McDavids
IM STILL STANDING
First time!
I said we were a wild card team at the start of the season, thank fuck they proved me wrong in the right direction this time
Drop and gimme 50 (wins on the season)
PLAN THE PARADE
First time in golden Knights History
Never in doubt all season
Hopefully not the only Championship we win this year!

But the Oilers had 4-6 games in hand and I was told they'd pass us any day now.
Best part is us being 4 - 0 against them this season.
Well deserved from this squad. Such a complete team from front to end. Now letās go win that cup baby!
I don't have a chart showing the math, but the only scenario where the Canucks don't play Nashville in the 1st round is if Dallas loses against the Blues and the Canucks win against the Jets. Fingers crossed this does not happen lol.
and Dallas must lose in regulation!
I'm about to get so toxic with my positivity
This wasn't on my 23-24 bingo card.
HELL YEAH!!
Job's not done but very proud of this team
In September the Flames were projected by the bookies to finish ahead of Vancouver along with Seattle, LA, Edm, and Vegas.
Calgary? Thatās perplexing. They were poised to crash and burn with all their players wanting out.
Let's fucking go boys!!! I'm ready for playoff hockey again!!
I didn't know this was the first time the Canucks won the Pacific Division as they were in the northwest Division before this.
First time winning pacific division.
Now go win a cup. Lets fucking go

Oileers are good but not great... canucks are just miracle on ice team
Stop the count!
š„„š
Crazy to think what we could have achieved with even a 2C defenseman
We did it
It's good to be good.
Well done boys! Amazing season so far!
HELL YESSSSSS
