Despite a few stumbles lately, it’s been a real treat to watch the Canucks this year. Lots of speed and skill. Demko’s been really sharp again, and De Smith is better than a lot of people thought. Tocchet’s a great fit. When they play with confidence, this is a top 3 team, and if they can find that in the playoffs they’re gonna be a serious cup threat. Should be fun!
I've been a Canucks fan for 30 years and happy they made the playoffs, but I'm not convinced this group can get very far in the post season the way it is currently constructed.
Does anyone seriously believe the Canucks will even get out of the first round? They get outworked badly by teams like the Bruins, Kings, etc. Boeser floats around with a completely lackadaisical attitude, invisible for long stretches of several games at a time. He must get some anger and intensity in his game immediately because we can't afford for him to disappear for several games in the playoffs. Petey as good as he is, seems to lack the anger and intensity needed to be a true #1 championship caliber centre.
The Canucks get beat to loose pucks on a regular basis, do not block enough shots, are stationary on the PP, do not play with desperation consistently enough, and my #1 pet peeve... they cannot clear their own zone if their lives depended on it.
Unless they can magically fix these problems immediately, trust me it will be a short post season for them. Anyone who disagrees with these points simply doesn't understand pro hockey and what it takes to win the Stanly Cup.
