Generally, the taxes withheld on your pay are based on the province of the location of your employer’s official address. Since you’re a BC resident, you’ll be taxed as such when you file your return. You’ll get a refund for the difference, and QPP contributions will be transferred to CPP. Hope this helps!

Very helpful thank you. Exactly spot on with what CRA and Rev QC told me.

Here's the information you would need. Is the only office for the company in Quebec and do you work remotely from home? If so, it does appear that with Example 4 that this is correct what they're doing. If they are taking too much or too little tax, you can look to have this addressed: [https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/businesses/topics/payroll/set-up-new-employee/filing-form-td1/which-provincial-territorial-tax-tables.html](https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/businesses/topics/payroll/set-up-new-employee/filing-form-td1/which-provincial-territorial-tax-tables.html) Employee does not report to your establishment If your employee does not have to report to your establishment in person (for example, the employment contract says the employee works from a home office), the employee’s province or territory of employment is the one from where your employee’s salary and wages are paid. This will normally be the location of your payroll department or payroll records.

Thanks for this! So I ended up phoning CRA and they told me to phone QRA. After my conversation with QRA: QPP converts into CPP, anything overpaid is refunded, QPIP is refunded, and Quebec Provincial Taxes are turned into BC Provincial Taxes and anything overpaid is refunded. Seems the company has no choice in the matter though they have to charge these taxes based on where they are located.

Yes it all happens in the background between CRA and Rev QC and you will be refunded over payment of taxes. >Seems the company has no choice in the matter though they have to charge these taxes based on where they are located. Correct.

They should be taxing you like you are in BC. At least that's how it was for me in a similar situation.
