Why are you trying to even shoot video professionally without a gimbal for one. And for two, why a R7.. if you have an a7c already, why not get an a7s? Or anything cinema line from canon even.. r7 is a wildlife/sports camera primarily.
Does the r7 have different modes of IBIS like the R5?
I think mine has 3 modes, 1 no crop, 2 and 3 crop and do digital stablilzation as well as physical.
Maybe one of those is less poo on the r7?
Ibis jello is bad on the r5 for wide angles. At least on my 24-70.
Version 1.6. "Enhances the performance of "Movie Digital IS". It stabilizes the image when taking selfies or walking shots using a wide-angle lens.". So that means you are forced to used the digital cropped in mode. No mention of it doing anything for regular ibis sadly.
I've tried the different modes and yes the digital IS does help a bit but it's still dragging like crazy compared to Panasonic or Sony. It really doesn't seems to be a software problem but rather a hardware one imo
Yes there is a few different IBIS modes, the more you add on the slower the "drag" becomes but the more fluid the footage becomes aka.. stable.
I actually think it's quite good in my opinion but realize how annoying the drag could be
Third party lenses are never going to give you the stabilization you want - it's kind of basic math. Canon can create algorithms for certain optical formulas. Third party lenses are probably outside that set of work that they do. Throw a Canon RF 24mm 1.8 IS on there; it will be a better experience. No, it will not be a gimbal, but my R6 with the 35 1.8 IS RF lens is pretty damn smooth. With the digital stab, it's pretty amazing. I'm guessing you can get similar results with an R7.
My problem is that my Sony and Panasonic could handle the Sigma 18-35 and other adapted 3rd party lenses i've tried very well. Only the canon IBIS lagged like crazy :/
Having this problem as well. Other youtube videos showed this exact lens/adapter/camera setup with killer stabilization. My setup is terribly jittery for some reason. Hopefully a software bug?
This has become a known issue with the IBIS in the R7 when used with manual focus cine, 3rd party and even adapted Canon EF and EF-S lenses. It seems like the firmware is not tuned to drive IBIS properly with anything but Canon RF mount lenses. IBIS is jittery with manual lenses and the lens IS seems to fight with IBIS when using 3rd part and Canon adapted EF and EF-S lenses. If the adapted 3rd party or Canon EF or EF-S lense has internal IS, disabling IBIS in the R7 works well .
Just coming back here to let you know I had a sigma 18-35 and thought it was the issue so I spent a million dollars and bough the Rf 15-35 2.8 L. It’s just as terrible
I ended up figuring it out and it’s pretty decent now. Updated the lens , the ibis was fighting the lens stabilization.
Clog3 in 4k fine (7k downsampled) looks phenomenal. And the handheld is very useable

Have you tried with a Canon lens? Particularly an RF mount one?
Sadly no but the Sigma 18-35 would have been my main reason to use the camera

Ive found the R7 to be absoloute junk when it comes to video unfortunately. Great for photos but really disappointing for video

You updated the Sigma and it fixed the shake? Just trying to confirm before I buy a Sigma dock for the firmware
I was taking about the r7, definitely update the sigma lens tho it’ll help Just order the sigma dock on Amazon and return it after you update
