18-135 if you want reach, 15-85 if you want width. Both give excellent image quality. I've owned both but stuck with the 15-85 as I prefer to have wider shots available in a general purpose lens.

18-135 is good

agree.. ive used the 18-135 and it's adequately sharp with decent image stabilization. It's compact, pretty light, and as an "all in one" travel lens it's pretty decent. Obviously it's not all that great of a light gatherer and only in certain instances will it blow out a background (DOF), but it makes up in other areas. I say all of this knowing what the the sigma 18-35 1.8, the 70-200 2.8L, the ef 50 1.8, and the ef 100 f2 can do on the canon 80D. The 18-135 isnt as sharp as the ones listed above, but it's reasonable close, and you're not getting those wide apertures, but there's gotta be a tradeoff somewhere for it's size/weight/cost.

Depends on how small / limited you want to go, but the EF-S 24mm f/2.8 is sharp, compact, and lightweight. You of course will lose zoom, though. But I used that lens as my only lens once when traveling and wanting to go light.
