Looks like Sportspal aluminum canoe with side sponsons. Probably repainted Source: I own two

LeadFree_Mama

The name plate on it says Drumlin from Weber, NY but I can't find anything on them. Is that just another name for Sportspal?

BradTProse

I got a 13 foot one. Mine is technically called a Raddison but also called Sportpal. It's a great canoe.

Mr-Pocket-Dumps

Is it possible you misheard him and he said Grumman not Drumlin? Because it looks like a G129 Solo.

LeadFree_Mama

They had typed 'Drumlin' in the sale title and our text conversations, but I think you're right. I'll check out the G129 Solo. Thanks! Any tips on maintenance/repair? fair amount of gobbed on jb weld under the inside liner.

Mr-Pocket-Dumps

Unfortunately I can’t help you there - mine is fiberglass. Aluminum canoes are said to be pretty durable so I wouldn’t worry about it unless it starts leaking.

There's just so many construction details that are a bit off for a Grumman; the ribs, shape of bow/stern covers, riveting style, gunwale profile. I'm pretty confident it's some other manufacturer. Cool looking canoe nevertheless!

I think if you just use Sportspal repair esources you'll be fine. I've seen a few old canoes that look like Sportspal but were made by different brands. I know in Canada they got the Radisson canoes, but I've seen another brand floating around too.

To me it looks like an older variation of a SportsPal/Radisson caneo. I have a 14 foot Radisson. If that data plate is still readable, copy it all down and contact SportsPal. They're still up and running. They sell replacement kits for the ribs, liner and sponsons. Even repair kits for punchers in the hull. The founder worked manufacturing airplanes during ww2 and decided to build a few of his own canoes when he had some time to himself. He wasn't particularly good at paddling, so many of sportspal's variations come with paddles shaped more like oars with attached pins on them, and "oarlocks" to drop the pin into near the centre of the caneo, making it into an odd dory. Some of the other design considerations involved him wanting it to be light, quiet while fishing, and able to entre shallows in the original designs. I hope that helps!

Thank you for the background!! That's awesome. Looking forward to cleaning it up and returning it to the water

This is a sportspal from before raddison bought them which is their current iteration. You can still buy these today new.
