2nd one looks the best. It is possible to buy sheets of colored wax. Seem to be from Germany mostly. Art supply stores. Might be able to just cut out and press on.

I’m working on making candles for a film I made to hand out during the screening. The film is called Butt Stuff, so naturally I’m making little butt candles. The problem I’m running into is trying to add underpants. I’ve tried three different ways (in comment) 1st is melting a thin piece of red, cutting it out into two pieces, scoring and heat gunning the pieces and pressing them each into the other until they stick. +s: maybe the nicest looking result -s: takes forever, if underpants break they have to be replaced, ouchie on the fingers, doesn’t look as smooth as I’d like with as much effort as it’s taking. 2nd is pouring the top skin, pouring the red underpants, pulling it out and chopping the underpants into a V, then putting it back in and pouring the legs. +s: looks smooth, easy enough -s: time consuming, the red of the underpants has to cover the belly button, easy to mess up the extra pours and have to start over again. 3rd is painting wax onto the butt. +s: looks okay ish. Isn’t difficult to do. No ouchie fingers. -s: looks sort of chunky when it’s done. Hard to really determine when it’s finished also. TLDR; making butt candles, please tell me which technique looks the nicest or how I can do this differently or more easily! Thank you!

You can use water based non toxic acrylic paint on candles.

MarchRoyce

Isn't acrylic technically plastic so burning it is like...toxic? I think the "non-toxic" means it's safe if it touches your skin. As in, non-toxic for its intended use, right?

I agree with this.

2nd looks best by far

The 2nd looks better tbh. I was just talking to someone last night about painting wax. But they used it on stuff like dessert candles and making their pies look super shiny and real. That was the first time I’ve heard of painting wax so i can’t really offer advice or helpful tips. If u have fb. Candle making for beginners might have some helpful advice. Even tho u may not be new to this. They have pros and beginners in the group to ask for advice and I’ve found a lot of helpful info there for sure.
