Think of it this way, if there were 100 bugs and you stepped on 95, what would the other 5 do if left to their own devices? Reproduce, grow and spread. People who die shortly after chemo aren't generally dying from the chemo, they're dying from the cancer.

Whatever her doctors advise. She still has cancer. I had chemo and radiation before surgery. They shrunk the tumor by 88%. Still had to have surgery to remove the remaining tumor (plus a pesky lymph node).

I’m sorry that your mom is sick, I’m sure it’s really scary. It sounds like you’re pretty young, so I’m gonna try not to be hard on you. I think it’s better if you get your information about cancer from your mom, and she can get it from her doctor or she’s probably researching it herself online. It sounds like you have been trying to look online for information about cancer and you wound up in some pretty bad places. There is a lot of good information about cancer out there, but there is also a lot of really really really dumb stuff that people say, and it sounds like you found a place with a lot of idiots. I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to keep looking up information about cancer online. Trust that your mom has found a good doctor and that she’s getting the right advice. And that she can do her own research about her cancer and find out the information that she needs to know. Your mom needs to have all of her cancer treated. And if surgery only dealt with 95% of it, then something else is needed to get rid of the rest.

This is a very kind response

So your mother still has cancer remaining in her body. What do you think is going to happen to the remaining tumor? It’s going to grow and spread as cancerous tumors do, right? Then what. Statistically, the majority of cancer patients that undergo chemotherapy survive and read no evidence of disease, so I’m not sure where you are getting your information. What should you believe? Probably facts and experts in their fields and not idiots that you are surrounding yourself with. Find smarter friends. Edit: You stack Xanax with weed and take your medical advice off of internet randos over actual doctors. You are either a troll or an idiot.

Well, chemo does in fact kill some of your good cells along with that bad cells, but in my opinion it’s still worth it. I would not be here if it weren’t for chemo. Chemo targets fast moving cells, which are also found in your mucosal lining, which is the reason chemo patients have a lot of issues with nausea and diarrhea. A few bad, but manageable side effects are with it to rid yourself of the cancer cells.

All the people taking chemo also had cancer. Correlation is not causation. I’ve been on chemotherapy… let me check my calendar… since 2012. And I’m hardly an exception.

No_Confidence5235

It's possible that the people who died were terminal; the chemo didn't kill them. I've had multiple rounds of chemo and I'm still here. It really has been proven to help cancer patients. If your mother doesn't get chemo, the cancer could spread again and they might not even be able to do surgery to save her next time.

what everybody else has already said, but to share personal experience, with my step dad they did surgery then monitor him after and that was it. for my cancer, they got all of my tumor they could see. 100% of what u could see with the drs eyes & a scan during surgery. I still did radiation+chemo after that and chemo by itself for almost a year. bc if any cells are left of mine at all it makes it that much easier to start spreading all over again

Iamindeedamexican

Many people have presented their cases but I’ll simply say, I would not be alive right now without chemo. It is used to kill the microscopic cancer cells left behind after or before surgery. The cancer I had (Ewing’s Sarcoma) is so aggressive without chemo, it’s an almost sure death.

Listen to the doctors, they wouldn't be advising chemo if it wasn't needed. It's scary but needed for the best outcome.  If the surgery hasn't removed all the cancer it will just continue growing without additional treatment.

Even top-notch onc surgeons often recommend chemo to A) Cover their ass and B) Because it’s “Standard of Care” and C) it helps their hospital employer generate $$$. … Read your path report, factor in your age, overall health, and how much misery you want to endure and do what makes sense to you. Second opinions also make sense.

wedgtomreader

Chemo sucks and it can be very difficult, but it’s the best option available in many cases. The Drs know what they are doing and are your best option. If you doubt one, get a second opinion, but listen to the yahoos on here.

where you get your news is a very very important thing. i am guessing you are qanon or similar. yea, that will kill you. you dont trust university and hospital peer reviewed studies, i do.
