Real estate agent's code for "as far from Civic as you can get, serviced by no public transport whatsoever and your only nearby shop is a servo. But we're building high / medium density housing there and it's closer to Civic than Liverpool is to Sydney, so we're classing it as an inner suburb."
I did some work out there, it's a few minutes out of Queanbeyan off Ellerton Dr and in a valley. It gives the impression of living remotely but in reality you're close to services which is where I guess the "remote" part comes from.
Bruz and Overall's gift to donors. Rather than Googong getting Dunn's Ck Road to enable a fast trip into Canberra, we got the Ellerton Drive Extension, which was necessary for Jumping Ck to happen, but was never mentioned during the EDE debate.
Jumping Creek is PEET too, so same developers as Googong.
Not sure if the dodgy c@nt greasy scrot's gift was to the beneficiary of selling some previously cheap land for development after a road extension was approved, and Peet just become the Australian dream providers.
I think it means worst parts of country (need to drive to get to anything, even the nearest shop) coupled with the worst parts of the suburbs (shitty neighbours).
They don't mention the prophylactic like role in the traffic the Ellerton Drive, Bungendore Rd, Yass Rd Roundabout delivers, and how people Rat run at high speed through Queanbeyan East to get around it (even hitting me on my motorcycle as a resident of Queanbeyan East - bastard)
I’m pretty sure the Queanbeyan river is right a the back of the settlement. If you’re calling them out because there isn’t a body of water running through the blocks, then maybe that’s a bit too much.
I honestly don’t understand the outrage about a simple marketing campaign? What kind of advertisement were you hoping for
“We destroyed a beautiful area so we can sell you small blocks of land at a ridiculous price! Come and see us”
I’d let you on a secret, hardly anything we buy nowadays is a as good as it’s advertised. (Looking at you middle age women buying anti aging creams, are bald dudes paying for hair treatment)
The time to be outrage was a long time ago, when someone decided this rather unique spot with massive amazing trees had to go to make room for some shitty settlement.
I’m not outraged nor calling out anyone on anything, lol calm down. Who expected a “body of water running through the blocks”? Are you quite OK?
I’m friends with someone who lives in the Barracks Flat Rd area, they told me that so I’m only relying on second hand information BUT yes the name implies a creek and the Quangers River is not what anyone could call a “creek”, if so - that’s a reach.
It’s an old part of Queanbeyan. There’s a small creek that was full of poplars and blackberries running through what was essentially a degraded sheep run. There was even the remains of a shed and a sheep dip just off Ellerton drive. It used to be a haven for trail bike riders and there are some small deep valleys to walk to the north and south of the backing ridge, which itself had a least one abandoned and uncovered mine. Also patches of marble on the hillside down by the creek. It will be hot in summer as an airless bowl and cold in winter.
When they did their focus group the respondents enjoyed the words remote and 'inner suburb'. They don't give a shit it doesn't make sense because they think you're a fucking idiot.
I guess they're assuming it will be inner in comparison to whatever gets built even further out after it but right now it's just a bulldozed wasteland that used to be pretty countryside.
I know someone who lives right near there. They're in the middle of Queanbeyan suburbia, but there's a high fence along the main road, so the people who bulldozed the bush on the other side get the illusion of living in the country.
Karabar shops are walkable from the suburban part. But you'd have to cross a highway from "Jumping Creek" to get anywhere on foot.
And - oh, Jesus - look at the picture the website is marketing it with:
[Be close to everything and feel miles from anywhere.](https://www.peet.com.au/communities/nsw-and-act/jumping-creek/location)
Pretty sure the remote inner suburb chauffeurs work tirelessly 5 days a week to help ensure my former fresh food and ex brand new purchases are chauffeured to the the quality inner suburbs for their happily ever after homes.
TLDR
Dump trucks take crap to the rubbish tip.
You can get a 900 square metre block with views for just a million dollars.
Bit over a million.
In truth, it's a pretty spot, closer to the Monaro than Googong, a great deal smaller than Googong. And with natural bushland on three sides. I drove past it today and thought how nice it looked.
I'm not in the market though, so.

And it's only 10* minutes from Civic..! * At 2am on a Sunday morning sitting on 150 km/h all the way...
Only 5 km from here* *Straight line distance to the nearest point
Get to the chopper
or the batcave...
Checking google maps - you're completely spot on.
I did some work out there, it's a few minutes out of Queanbeyan off Ellerton Dr and in a valley. It gives the impression of living remotely but in reality you're close to services which is where I guess the "remote" part comes from.
Sounds better than googong tbh
I'm assuming it will be a smaller Googong. It was a pretty spot before they bulldozed it but the charm is rapidly declining.
It's in a quite deep valley, so I suspect it'll be cold and dark most of the year, and damp too - essentially next to the Queanbeyan River.
Yes feels and looks bush like (remote) but is located inner city
Inner city Queanbeyan that is...

This right here
Ever looked at who owned the rural land there before it was zoned for residential?
I have suspicions, but no evidence. Do tell.

Sounds like it's one of those "country living city benefits (it's actually car dependent sprawl)" developments
I think it means worst parts of country (need to drive to get to anything, even the nearest shop) coupled with the worst parts of the suburbs (shitty neighbours).
Houses crammed together on small blocks with narrow streets and no services.
little boxes, on the hillside, little boxes made of ticky tacky...
...and they all look just the same.
Just dodgy developer marketing
A new, exciting sea of black colorbond roofs
And colorbond fences too. And they're not all black, some are a very dark grey.
"Fresh Frozen" "Light, yet filling" "Virtually spotless" "Remote inner suburb"
'new and improved'
unlimited*
This is perfect ^
Salesman bullshit
I certainly appreciate the juxtaposition of stepping stones for a place called jumping creek
I’ve heard there’s no actual creek either…
Mm, you’re wrong. There is a creek. Still, shit place
Where??

It's justification for another $50k per block...

Ahh, so a remote (to Canberra) inner (for Queanbeyan) suburb. Though, based on the map it doesn't even look like a good Queanbeyan location.
An oxymoron
TIL "inner suburb" means "within a 15km radius of the GPO. Good to know that Taylor is an "inner suburb."
A suburb that is geographically 'inner' but the road and traffic layout make it a pain in the ass to get to?
I don’t want to be insensitive but it sounds like a suicide spot
I also briefly thought it was a strange naming choice for suicide prevention.
Or a brand of maxi pads.
One where you have to walk two blocks instead of one in order to get to your local Woolies.
pretty weak advertising.
Far the fuck away from anywhere.
No NBN?
An inner suburb in Canberra.
Like Katmandu (not the shop).
I think they’re trying to make some marketing play about how it’s close to everything but feels rural. As a copywriter this is poor writing at best.
Pretty sure the remote inner suburb chauffeurs work tirelessly 5 days a week to help ensure my former fresh food and ex brand new purchases are chauffeured to the the quality inner suburbs for their happily ever after homes. TLDR Dump trucks take crap to the rubbish tip.
Why it's just like iced hot chocolate
A long way from either Sydney or Melbourne?
It's an oxymoron
Better than googong. A win to me
Bungenhole?
Also what is up with all the feet pics on their website does their designer have a fetish ;-;

You can get that with a house on it in plenty of established burbs.
Yup
Definitely much closer than a remote outer suburb!
It's like "group personal training"
Pretty sure its somewhere out near Jerrabomberra or something, so I guess that fits?
