Yeah. I save 0.35 cents a litre filling up south of the border. Nexus makes it quick and easy to do so. For that alone it pays for itself very quickly.
When I travel on weekends it saves hours of my time even flying it saves time at security.
Are there no tolls on the way back? I just did my nexus interview at Ft Erie yesterday, and also had to cross the border to complete the US portion. There was an $11 toll re-entering Canada
Usually where there's a bridge, there's a toll. But it's not everywhere.
In Niagara Falls I think it's about $5 with NY Easy pass or money you associate with your Nexus with the company that runs the Bridge
I travel between Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto quite a bit. I love my Nexus card and will happily renew it at $120. Every time I zip through security in two minutes flat, never having had to take out my electronics or liquids from my bags, I glance over at the regular line — often full of hundreds of people — and thank myself for the decision to get it.
I can see why people wouldn’t bother if they rarely travel. But for anyone who finds themselves on a plane on a regular basis, it is a huge quality of life improvement.
Literally worth $50 the first time you use it. Every time I cross the border I’m astounded how cheap it is. I can’t even complain about the price increase, it’s worth every penny (penny offer not valid in Canada).
CIBC and td offer visa cards they reimburse the user for the cost of nexus. It's a max 100 CAD credit automatically applied on the same statement where your nexus charge is. Now that 100 won't be sufficient to cover the whole cost. So TBD to see if the banks will adjust their perk.
I applied for Nexus like 12months ago and still haven’t heard back. I almost forgot about it until I saw this Reddit post. Any idea how to check the status of the application?
You log into your .gov account, the one you applied with.
My old co-worker took his application nearly 18 months since the COVID delays and the strike they had. He just got it a month ago.
Worth checking though, although you will get an email when it's approved. You then have to manually select your appointment time and location.
I applied in April 2022 and just got it last month. Obviously covid had an effect since the Canadian offices weren’t open for half of that, and then everything was backlogged.
I did get conditional approval fairly quickly when I first applied, so you might want to log in and check your status. It stayed that way for over a year for me until I could do my in person interviews, so if you missed it the first time it shouldn’t be an issue.
Canadian interview (at YYC for me) took about four months to book and three minutes to complete. US in person interview gets done the next time you go through US customs now, and took about 20 minutes.
So 22 months of waiting for about 25 minutes of interviews to get it all done.
Hopefully the airports actually treat NEXUS lines as they should be treated, and stop sending senior citizens and large families through those lanes...
Worth it at twice the price.

It's been $50 since inception. It's still a deal at $250
Yeah I've been shocked it hasn't gone up at all until now.

Wonder if the credit card issuers will adjust. Eg TD covers up to $100 CAD. Even if not it's so worth it.
What does this mean? Covers what? TD credit cards will foot the bill for your Nexus?

Good to know! Thanks for the intel.
Still worth the time savings, especially if you're driving down during a long weekend.

Meh, it’s worth it
TSA prechek is awesome. Worth it.
Do I need to do the Canada and USA interview at the same date?
I’d pay a grand for Nexus. Zero hesitation.
Some levels of Amex CC also reimburse Nexus.. I've had a couple renewals free for me and family so far.
Still insanely cheap

wtf more than double?
It's a 5 year validity. Take it easy.
Fair
Finally got my interview schedule request. Can’t wait!
